Rupali Ganguly Demands National Awards For TV Actors: ‘We Work Hard Too'
The recent National Film Awards have Bollywood and other regional industries buzzing with excitement. Renowned names like Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji and Vikrant Massey took home the prestigious award for their respective performances in films like Jawan, Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway and 12th Fail. Amid the industry's celebrations for big wins, Rupali Ganguly has come out asking the most important question: Why are there no national awards for television artists?
TV actress Rupali Ganguly, who plays the lead in one of the most-loved shows, Anupamaa, shared her thoughts in a candid chat with Viral Bhayani. Not holding back even a bit, she said, 'There are National Awards for everyone—film stars, content creators. But there's nothing for TV actors."
'We Work Very Hard': Rupali Ganguly
Further in the conversation, Rupali highlighted how TV actors are often overlooked despite their long shooting schedules and hard work. During the COVID-19 pandemic, while most industries slowed down, television kept moving at its regular pace and so did the artists. 'Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, we kept working. When a film star works continuously, it makes headlines. But no one talked about how we, the TV artists, worked non-stop during COVID," Rupali added.
She also had a heartfelt request for the Indian Government. The actress said, 'I request the government to recognise our efforts too. We work very hard."
