Calling all animal lovers! Think you need to travel all the way to Africa to go on safari? Think again. The animal experiences available in NSW are just as diverse and wonderful as our landscapes, which provide plenty of places to have close-up encounters in the wild. But if you're hoping to spot more than roaming wallabies and roos, our top wildlife parks also offer the chance to see Tassie devils, giraffes, echidnas and even cheeky quokkas. Want to know the best spots to see them all in one place? New research has just unveiled the most picturesque wildlife locations in the world, and the top spot is right here in NSW. The researchers at Titan Travel recently published a Wildlife Safari Index, which aims to spotlight the best destinations around the world for animal lovers outside of Africa. They compiled a list of locations offering the ideal balance of diverse wildlife, endangered species conservation and accessible travel, then ranked them across categories like most affordable, top-rated and most Instagram-worthy. The top scorer? Featherdale Wildlife Park in Sydney's west.
Located deep within Sydney's sprawling west – just a 45-minute drive from the CBD – Featherdale boasts the world's largest collection of native Australian wildlife. With more than 2,000 native animals, including 68 endangered species, the park puts a big focus on conservation – but also on unforgettable hands-on encounters with its (generally) cute mammals. You can hand-feed wallabies and kangaroos, pat a koala, step into a penguin enclosure and snap a quokka selfie – talk about a guaranteed Instagram win!
Victoria's Werribee Open Range Zoo ranks as the second most Insta-worthy wildlife location, with more than 126,000 tags. The highlight is the zoo's open-air safari buses, which take visitors on an African-inspired journey to see giraffes, rhinos, zebras and hippopotamuses splashing in the river.
Just outside of Melbourne, Healesville Sanctuary claimed fourth spot for the most picturesque wildlife experience (94,400 tags), with Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park following closely in fifth (56,900 tags). You can check out the full results below.

Love Island couple split weeks after jetting on romantic holiday together

Love Island fan-favourite couple Ronnie Vint and Harriett Blackmore have split. It comes just days before the new series of the ITV2 dating show starts. Ronnie and Harriett both headed to South Africa earlier this year to appear on Love Island All Stars and rekindled their romance after meeting and falling for one another on the previous series of the show during the summer. However, their rekindled flame appears to have burnt out as it's understood the pair have parted ways again – just weeks after enjoying a romantic holiday in Ibiza together. Both Ronnie, 28, and Harriett, 25, have erased all traces of one another on their Instagram feeds and have also unfollowed one another, too. It comes after fans have been discussing rumours of a split between the pair in recent days, after they noticed the pair's social media activity. It comes just a few weeks after the pair enjoyed a romantic holiday in Ibiza together – posting a TikTok video about their trip. Ahead of the trip, Harriett gushed to Mirror about her romance and upcoming adventure with Ronnie. When asked how things were between the pair, she said: "Super good! We're actually going away on holiday together this week – we're off to Dubai. Everyone keeps asking if it's our first holiday together, and in a way it is… but also, we kind of met on holiday! We've both been crazy busy lately, so I'm excited to get away, just the two of us. It's been a roller coaster, but a good one." The pair had also been planning to move in together this month – but their split will clearly put a stop to those plans. Harriett told us: "Yes! In June. Everything's happening at once. We're moving up towards London, which is exciting. It's really close to Matilda [Draper], so we'll be spending a lot of time with her, and going back and forth." And when asked how she's feeling about the big move, she said: "Actually fine. People say the cracks show when you move in together, but because we met in the villa and lived in each other's pockets every single day, we'd already crossed that bridge. This is just a new chapter."

This breathtaking coastal drive is the hottest road trip in Australia right now (spoiler: it's not the Great Ocean Road)

Indicators at the ready! The Great Ocean Road is undoubtedly the most iconic road trip in Australia, but it's time for Victoria's crown jewel to step (or swerve) to the right. Another breathtaking coastal drive has stolen the spotlight as Australia's top trending road trip for 2025, and it packs in arguably more jaw-dropping sights. But hey, we'll let you be the judge of that one… To uncover the top-trending routes, the car insurance experts at Rollin' analysed year-on-year online search data for 22 of Australia's most popular road trips. Leading by a long way, the Great Barrier Reef Drive sped into first place, recording a remarkable 117 per cent jump in online monthly searches over the past year. Starting in Cairns, this 140-kilometre journey follows the coast north to Port Douglas and then over to the Great Barrier Reef, where travellers can live out their Little Mermaid dreams. We suggest making a pit stop at Mossman Gorge to swim in croc-safe waters, or take a guided Dreamtime walk through the ancient Daintree Rainforest. From there, continue cruising up to Cape Tribulation, where two immense World Heritage-listed wonders (the reef and the rainforest) meet together in perfect harmony. Australia's second-hottest road trip right now is the Grand Pacific Drive from Sydney to the Sapphire Coast, which saw an 83 per cent surge in searches. This scenic journey is another favourite for travellers chasing epic ocean views and dramatic cliffside landscapes – and it also brags what might be the most photogenic stretch of road in Australia: the legendary Seacliff Bridge. The third trendiest road trip is Western Australia's 1,200 kilometre South West Edge from Perth to Esperance, which saw a 33 per cent increase in search interest. Rounding out the top five were two other WA gems: the Gibb River Road and Cape to Cape, both recording a 22 per cent jump in searches. You can discover more of Australia's favourite road trips here.
