Middletown Police installing speed cameras on 2 streets
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — The Middletown Police Department is installing speed cameras on Washington Street and Camp Street, the department said in a release Monday. This is part of the city's initiative to enhance road safety and reduce speeding. The cameras are now active, recording the eastbound and westbound lanes of both streets. Man charged with DUI after allegedly driving wrong way on I-91 in Enfield In accordance with Connecticut state law, there will be a 30-day warning period. During this time, motorists who exceed the posted speed limit will receive warning notices instead of citations. Once those 30 days are up, citations will be issued to drivers exceeding the speed limit by the automated enforcement system. 'The deployment of these cameras aligns with Middletown's broader traffic safety goals and supports the City's Safe Streets and Vision Zero initiatives, strategies dedicated to eliminating traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries,' said the release. Highway robbery: Scammers bring back classic scam
(WHTM) — Ever get a text message saying you owe money for a toll? The messages know how to get your attention. They claim you have an outstanding traffic ticket and that if you don't pay immediately, you'll lose your registration and driving privileges. That got drive Scott Ruby's attention. 'I know that they can be awfully confusing to people, especially my age, who take this stuff for truth,' Ruby said. As summer returns, so does this infamous scam. States are warning drivers they will never text demanding money. The bottom line: Don't respond to unsolicited texts. Easy enough for Ruby — 'I owe so much that I ignore them anyway.' If you're ever unsure, call the state's agency directly at its official number to verify. Find more stories on Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
