Hajj application process begins Aug 4
Selections will be made on a first-come, first-served basis, in line with the Saudi timeline.
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said Pakistan has been allocated a quota of 179,210 pilgrims — 119,210 under the government scheme and 60,000 for private operators, subject to final confirmation by Saudi authorities.
The government scheme will include both the traditional 38-42 day package and a shorter 20-25 day option. Estimated costs are expected to range between Rs1.15 million and Rs1.25 million, depending on final agreements with service providers.
Pilgrims will be required to deposit Hajj dues in two installments, with the first installment — Rs500,000 for the long package and Rs550,000 for the short one through designated banks, he added.
Minister Yousaf said applicants must hold valid Pakistani passports until at least November 26, 2026, and children under 12 years of age will not be eligible for Hajj this year. He said all pilgrims must be vaccinated with Saudi-approved vaccines.
He said the 'Road to Makkah' initiative will continue at Islamabad and Karachi airports. He said overseas Pakistanis will be allowed to remit Hajj payments to nominated bank accounts under the scheme. The policy mandates compulsory animal sacrifice payments through the official Saudi system, he added.
Minister Yousaf said private Hajj operators, including Dependent Hajj Companies (DHCs), will be subject to strict financial safeguards and transparent digital oversight.
He said these operators must enter service provider agreements with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony and operate under real-time data monitoring to ensure transparency, prevent double bookings, and ensure timely services.
He said a third-party audit system will evaluate the performance of both government and private Hajj schemes. The Punjab Information Technology Board will continue operational digital support, with the Ministry of IT overseeing supervision through NITB, he added.
Minister Yousaf said further measures include the deployment of emergency response teams, the continuation of the "Hajj Guardian Scheme" to compensate pilgrims for losses, mandatory training on logistics, rituals, and emergency protocols, and a fully digitized complaint redressal mechanism.
He said the 'Pak Hajj App' and helpline will assist pilgrims with updates and issue resolution throughout the Hajj process. The Hajj Policy 2026 will help ensure a transparent, efficient, and spiritually fulfilling experience for all Pakistani pilgrims through digitization, regulation, and improved service delivery mechanisms, he maintained.
The Hajj Policy 2026 includes a 70% government quota and a 30% private sector quota. It was highlighted that, following issues with the private sector in the previous year, private companies will ensure the participation of pilgrims who missed the Hajj in 2025.

Russia-Ukraine conflict: FO rejects claims of Pakistanis' involvement
ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office (FO) rejected the claims of Pakistani nationals being involved in Russia-Ukraine conflict, terming it baseless and unfounded allegations. 'The Government of Pakistan categorically rejects the baseless and unfounded allegations of the involvement of Pakistani nationals in the conflict in Ukraine. To date, Pakistan has not been formally approached by the Ukrainian authorities, nor has any verifiable evidence been presented to substantiate such claims,' FO Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said in a statement issued here on Tuesday. The Government of Pakistan shall take up this matter with the Ukrainian authorities, and seek clarification in this regard, he added. 'Pakistan reaffirms its commitment to the peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict through dialogue and diplomacy, in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter,' the spokesperson remarked. It is worth mentioning here that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had claimed on Monday that his warriors were fighting foreign 'mercenaries' from various nationalities including China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and parts of Africa. During 2023, foreign media also reported that Pakistan had allegedly sold $364 million worth of arms to Ukraine through third party US-backed private companies, which were categorically denied by Pakistan. PPP holds rally to express solidarity with Kashmiris
KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Energy, Planning & Development Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani, and Minister for Culture & Tourism Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah stated that under the leadership of Field Marshal General Asim Munir, India has been given a befitting response. God willing, we will soon ensure the Kashmiri people attain their right to self-determination. The case of Kashmir is a case of justice and humanity. Today, India is facing disgrace globally, and, God willing, a decision in favour of Kashmiris under the UN resolutions will be achieved soon. By August 5, 2026, the situation in Kashmir will have completely changed. They expressed these views while addressing the rally marking Kashmir Exploitation Day, which commenced from Peoples Chowrangi and concluded at Mazar-e-Quaid. The rally was also addressed by Advocate Parvez Ahmed, a Hurriyat leader from Occupied Kashmir, PPP's Lal Chand Ukrani, and others. Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh, Saleem Baloch, Sarfaraz Rajar, Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi, Kulsoom Chandio, Owais Shah, Senior Member Board of Revenue Syed Khalid Haider Shah, Deputy Commissioner East Abrar Jaffar, Ghulam Muhammad, and others also participated in the rally. Kashmir and Pakistani flags were displayed along the rally route. Participants held portraits of Kashmiri freedom fighters, and a large number of students were present. While addressing the rally, Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani said that every year on August 5, we mark 'Kashmir Exploitation Day' to condemn Indian aggression and the illegal abrogation of Article 370 against the UN resolutions, and express solidarity with our Kashmiri brothers. He said that in 2024, while we observed this day, we were not as hopeful as we are now in 2025. The humiliation India faced at the hands of the Pakistani forces on May 10 has raised our spirits, and we are confident that by 2026, the Kashmir issue will have seen further improvement. Saeed Ghani said that 'the butcher of Gujarat' Modi, previously refused to even speak on Kashmir, but after the Pakistan-India war, he is now compelled to consider dialogue. He said the world should clearly understand that we will never accept the division of Kashmir, and we continue to stand with the Kashmiri people. He emphasized that India has been globally disgraced, and soon, the Kashmir issue will be resolved. He added that during the war, while the world stood with India, it was Pakistan's Armed Forces and divine help that led to India's defeat within days — the world saw it. Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, in his address, said that, God willing, the days of oppression in occupied Kashmir will soon end. He credited the bravery of the Pakistani army, divine blessings, and national unity for the victory and reiterated commitment to secure freedom for Kashmiris according to their own will. He added that Pakistan is our top priority, and Kashmiris are our brothers. Referring to the atrocities in Gaza, he questioned the world's selective attention and urged them to acknowledge the oppression in Kashmir as well. He noted that Kashmiri leadership remains imprisoned, yet the spirit of the people remains strong. He said Modi is promoting brutality in the region, but Pakistan, under Field Marshal General Asim Munir's leadership and Bilawal Bhutto's global advocacy, is giving a strong response. He pledged continued diplomatic efforts until Kashmir is free and joins Pakistan. Hurriyat leader Advocate Parvez Ahmed, addressing the rally, thanked the Government of Sindh on behalf of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference for organizing solidarity events across the province and amplifying the voice of Kashmiris globally. He recalled Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's words that Kashmir runs in our blood, and even if it takes a thousand years of war, Pakistan will fight for Kashmir. He said August 5 marks the darkest day in Kashmir's history when its special status was revoked, and Kashmiris were stripped of their identity and rights. Advocate Parvez Ahmed lauded the Pakistani army's retaliation to India's 'Operation Sindoor' with their own 'Bunyan al Marsoos', which uplifted the spirits of Kashmiris after 70 years. He mentioned that India has deployed one million troops over 8 million Kashmiris, a stark reflection of its occupation. He praised PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's diplomatic efforts, which have proven that Pakistan stands firmly on the right side of history. He concluded, 'We are Pakistanis, and we will always remain Pakistanis.' Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

Youm-e-Istehsal marked : Pakistan Hindu Council shows strong support for Kashmiris
ISLAMABAD: On the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal (Kashmir Exploitation Day), the Pakistan Hindu Council expressed strong support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Patron-in-chief of Pakistan Hindu Council and Member National Assembly Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, on the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal, said that the day marks a new chapter of repression, denial of rights, and systematic exploitation of Kashmiri people residing in occupied Kashmir. Talking with media outside Parliament House on Tuesday, Dr Vankwani said, 'Today, every patriotic citizen of Pakistan stands united with the brave Kashmiris facing existential threats in their homeland. The ugly events of 5th August 2019 represent a legal overreach as well as a moral crisis that has stripped Kashmiris of their civic rights, identity, autonomy, and dignity.' 'Every patriotic Pakistani stands with our brave Kashmiri brothers and sisters,' Dr Vankwani said. 'History shows that oppressive regimes eventually fall,' he said. He said that Youm-e-Istehsal is not just a national observance — it is a reminder of our enduring commitment to justice for Kashmir. 'The struggle for dignity, autonomy, and identity in Kashmir belongs to all who uphold the values of equality and human rights. All patriotic Pakistani minorities stand resolutely with our Kashmiri brothers and sisters — today, and always,' he said. While condemning this injustice and brutality with innocent Kashmiri people, he said that Pakistan Hindu Council demands that the international community —including the UN, and international human rights institutions — must take urgent action regarding the ongoing human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.
