BVB's late pursuit of Belgian Pro League MVP
Could they be too late for this transfer? Dortmund are reportedly making a last-ditch attempt to sign Club Brugge's and the Belgian Pro League's most valuable player, Ardon Jashari. The Swiss international's market value soared to €32 million, making him the most valuable player in Belgian Pro League history, according to Transfermarkt - his value jumping from €25 million, cementing his status after a standout season with Club Brugge. Advertisement In recent days, AC Milan have tabled bids in the region of €30 million to €32 million, combining fixed fees and performance bonuses. Club Brugge, however, remain firm in seeking a €35 million base price plus additional payments, pushing the total towards the coveted €40 million mark. Dortmund have previously backed out of a deal because of those numbers - but with the sales of Moukoko and Gittens, they are seemingly interested to at least try and discuss a new deal for Jashari. The 22-year-old has only arrived in Belgium a year ago, after completing a transfer from Swiss side FC Luzern to Club Brugge for €6 million. He managed to play 52 games for the Belgian side and was even involved in 10 goals (4 goals, 6 assists) from defensive midfield. At Dortmund, Jashari would face fierce competition from Pascal Groß, Emre Can, Salih Özcan, Felix Nmecha and new signing Jobe Bellingham; but he has already proven to exceed expectations in Belgium - and he would definetly fit into a new profile in Dortmund, due to him being left-footed.

Treasure Trove of 20 McLaren Road Cars s Is for Sale, Most of Them Orange
The personal road car collection of Mansour Ojjeh, longtime McLaren racing team sponsor, is up for auction. There are 20 cars, each of them the last of its line. The collection includes the last McLaren F1 ever built and could go for a record sum. There are car collections, and there are car collections, and the 20 cars currently coming up for auction at Tom Hartley Jnr is emphatically the latter. Let's start with the headliner: the last McLaren F1 ever made, showing just 1100 miles on its odometer. The F1 was McLaren's first road car, and the 20 supercars listed here are basically a snapshot of the brand's roadgoing legacy since, almost all of them finished in a deep metallic orange called Mansour Orange. Tom Hartley Jnr Tom Hartley Jnr You don't get your hands on the last ever F1 even if you're a longtime McLaren fan and owner, and this collection formerly belonged to a man central to the McLaren story. The late Mansour Ojjeh, part-owner of the TAG motorsports and aviation group, joined F1 as a sponsor of the Willams team in 1979. He later moved into ownership of McLaren during the mid-1980s, and he was there for the development of the TAG-Porsche racing engines, which brought early success to the team. Ojjeh was with McLaren for the next 40 years, including being part of the fateful moment, along with Ron Dennis and Gordon Murray, when the idea of the F1 was born. Tom Hartley Jnr Tom Hartley Jnr Ojjeh had other blue-chip cars in his collection at the time, specifically some of Ferrari's best, but as McLaren got going he started to create an all-McLaren lineup. This is that collection, featuring special editions and Le Mans series cars, including a Senna GTR, Speedtail, and Elva. All except for the P1 GTR and the F1 are completely undriven, each one the last chassis built of that particular model. Tom Hartley Jnr Tom Hartley Jnr Tom Hartley Jnr Tom Hartley Jnr It's an interesting way to create a collection, making sure you have the best and last variant made. Since all but two are basically brand new—and those two are museum quality—it's a fantastic opportunity for someone to acquire a collection dedicated to pure McLaren enthusiasm. With the team's F1 team doing so well in this year's championship, the timing is right too. Carefully curated by someone who was in the front seat for McLaren's transformation from racing team to full-scale supercar manufacturer, this collection is sure to fetch the tippiest-top dollar out there. They don't come any more significant than this. Brendan McAleer Contributing Editor Brendan McAleer is a freelance writer and photographer based in North Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Dortmund up against 'superstar' Ramos, aggressive Monterrey: Kovac
Monterrey's Spanish defender Sergio Ramos has plenty of experience and Dortmund coach Niko Kovac said he is a "superstar" (CHARLY TRIBALLEAU) Borussia Dortmund will have to overcome "superstar" Sergio Ramos and his winning mentality to reach the Club World Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday, said the German team's coach Niko Kovac. Former Real Madrid captain and four-time Champions League winner Ramos, 39, is Monterrey's defensive leader and Kovac highlighted the Spaniard's will to win and Monterrey's aggression. Advertisement "He's a superstar you know," Kovac told a news conference Monday ahead of the last 16 clash against the Mexican side. "All the players that are playing so long... it shows their mindset. They are winners, they want to win in every single training session, every single game, they want to be on the top level with every single pass in training," continued the Croatian. "He's a leader, as a leader you want to be as long as possible on a high stage. It's a little bit funny I'm now a coach and he's still a player -- but I think he will become a coach." Ramos will do battle with Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy, who excelled this season and finished as the joint-top goalscorer in the Champions League with 13 strikes. Advertisement The Guinea international is looking forward to taking on Ramos. "It's going to be the first time, I'm looking forward to it, I want to play against Sergio Ramos, he's a great defender," Guirassy told reporters. "We will need to be strong, simply put." Kovac said his team needed to be aware of the combative style Ramos and his team-mates will employ in Atlanta. "The Latin American teams play robust football, with strong physicality -- football is a contact sport, we can't look it like basketball," said Kovac. "I see it in a positive way, it's the way I like to play. We have to adapt. Advertisement "One should not be provoked of course, but I told the players they have to defend themselves if they need to, I think the referees will have open eyes for that as well." The coach has complained about the intense heat at the tournament, with the German side forced to play in early kick-offs under a blazing sun, but Tuesday's match at the air-conditioned Mercedes-Benz Stadium will offer his side some relief. "I think maybe with my statements I sometimes can be a bit annoying when I talk about certain factors that are repeated," said Kovac. "I can confidently say we're looking forward to tomorrow, the conditions will be better. We don't have to play in 45 degrees Celsius. "We've proved we can play high intensity football and this is what we want to do when it's a bit cooler and the conditions are not so hot." rbs/
