Stevie Wonder Has the Perfect Response to Wild Rumor He's Not Really Blind
During a show for his Love, Light and Song U.K. tour in Cardiff, Wales, the singer poked fun at the wild speculation and addressed the crowd: 'I must say to all of you, something that I was thinking, 'When did I want to let the world know this?' But I wanted to say it right now. You know there have been rumors about me seeing and all that? But seriously, you know the truth.'

He continued: 'Truth is, shortly after my birth, I became blind. Now, that was a blessing because it's allowed me to see the world in the vision of truth, of sight. See people in the spirit of them, not how they look. Not what color they are, but what color is their spirit?'
Wonder has kept things lighthearted when discussing his blindness. During a 2015 appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman, the musician listed a catalog of the best advantages of being blind including, 'You can act like you don't see nothing when you really do' and 'You can say you didn't see that when you did.'
His optimism for life began early in his childhood. When discussing his journey with journalist Wesley Morris and Barack Obama in 2024 for The Wonder of Stevie podcast, Wonder said, 'I was born. Shortly after that, I'm blind. My mother went through the different things, and so my experience with that was deep.'
The 25-time Grammy winner said his mother would cry 'every night,' and one time he told her: 'Mama, you shouldn't cry, you're making my head hurt.'
'And I said, 'Maybe God has something for me that's bigger than all this,'' recalled Wonder. 'History proved that true.'

Commons Leader rolls out Oasis puns to describe year since Labour's election
Commons Leader Lucy Powell drew on the Oasis back catalogue to describe a year since Labour's first King's Speech in 15 years, after the Brit Pop band's recent reunion in their home city of Manchester. Little by Little, Ms Powell racked up seven mentions of Oasis material in the 50-second recap of the parliamentary year in the Commons on Thursday, ending by saying she hopes the Labour Government will 'Live Forever'. Her comments came in the last Business Questions before the parliamentary recess, which will begin next Tuesday. The Manchester Central MP said: 'I couldn't let this opportunity pass without telling the House that Manchester is buzzing right now with its bucket hats, its music, and even parkas in this hot weather. As we've all come together to celebrate the Oasis reunion. 'When Oasis were last performing at Heaton Park it was under a Labour government, and the shadow leader (Jesse Norman) invited me to give the House a few more groaning puns, so if he'll forgive me. 'Some Might Say this Government has a Masterplan for change, of course, I know it's not been a great year for the party opposite since their biggest election defeat in history, but perhaps they need to Stop Crying Their Heart Out, Don't Look Back In Anger, and hope that Reform Fade Away. 'Talking of which, last year we have seen Reform come on the scene in the House of Commons, some of their MPs have had better attendances than others. 'The honourable member for Clacton (Nigel Farage), as usual, is probably on a beach Half A World Away. 'There's more, there's one last one. Let's hope this Labour Government Live Forever.' Commons deputy speaker Nusrat Ghani responded and called the comments 'interesting'. Ms Powell had been asked by Conservative shadow leader Mr Norman what the Government planned to do to protect veterans who had served in Northern Ireland from prosecution. He said: 'Hundreds and thousands of men and women went to Northern Ireland, not of their own accord but under orders and in the chain of command, on the Queen's business, to combat the most serious terrorist organisation in the world at the time, and to protect human lives and human society.' He said the decisions by Labour to abandon the Legacy Act had left veterans in their 70s and 80s 'exposed to legal harassment, anxiety and trauma'. Ms Powell replied: 'This is a complex situation, and we need to resolve it. He might disagree with this, but the previous government's Legacy Act was found to be unlawful and unworkable and is now subject to further court action. 'That means currently that nobody is protected by it, and nor does it give people the justice that they want, because there would be so much legal uncertainty about the status of doing so. 'That is why our priority is finding a way forward that gives veterans, survivors and communities confidence in the process. We will take our time to do this.'

Every week, we interview top chefs from around the UK, hearing about their cheap food hacks, views on the industry and more. This week, we speak to Stephen Parker, corporate executive chef at Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beers... The worst thing ever to happen to the food industry is… the celebrity chef culture that has exploded over the past few decades, thanks to the likes of channels such as The Food Network. Cooking shows have shifted their focus from skilled cooking to personality, making many chefs entertainers rather than craftsmen. Real kitchens are much grittier and less glamorous than the ones seen on TV - creating a style-over-substance idea that really doesn't exist in the real world. One cheap place I love to eat in the UK is... in London's Borough Market. I had the most incredible risotto from the Wild Mushroom Risotto stand. The creamy risotto was topped with garlic and truffle oil, fried leeks, spring pesto and parmesan… I can't stop thinking about it! I loved how even though this was a simple dish, it packed in so much flavour and was made super-fast using fresh ingredients. Money blog: The key to a great burger is… the fat content and quality of the meat, which plays into how great the burger is after cooking. The meat needs to have enough fat to achieve a great sear on the outside, while the cut of beef is important to ensure that the juicy burger is full of extra flavour. My favourite ketchup has to be... Heinz baby - all day. Are there even any other options? The one thing I hate that some customers do is… order their burgers well done. In my opinion it's overcooked and doesn't give you the same culinary experience as eating a burger cooked to medium. At Black Tap, we pride ourselves on serving fat, juicy burgers that aren't overcooked. Food influencers are... constantly changing the game when it comes to the hospitality industry. They are great for helping to inspire chefs and restaurants alike to be on top of our game. Not only do they push businesses to be even bigger and better, but encourage restaurants to continue pushing boundaries when it comes to flavour combinations and food and drink trends. The idea that Michelin food is the tastiest you can get is false... Night markets, street food and real family-owned restaurants are leading the way when it comes to flavours and innovation. Chefs at establishments like these pour their hearts and souls into the food they're creating as they have such a passion for it. In my opinion, the tastiest meals I've ever had are connected to the memories that go along with them and how I was feeling at that moment in time. The best city in the world to eat in is... Singapore. Not only is it a multicultural hub, but it's also where my wife is from. We take a lot of inspiration from Singaporean dishes when cooking at home. Some of my favourites include Hainanese chicken rice, fried carrot cake (super delicious) and chilli crab. For nearly two decades, the singer-songwriter starred in feature after feature, but she never found the same level of success as an actress that she quickly earned as a musician. While some of her movies were commercially successful, only a few allowed her to incorporate the musical talent that made her a household name in the first place. Perhaps most memorably, Madonna took on the role of Eva Perón in the film version of Evita. The project remains one of her most important movie roles, and the accompanying soundtrack is still adored by fans – mostly of the singer herself. This week, it becomes a chart win once more. Evita Returns to the U.K. Chart Evita returns to the Official Soundtrack Albums chart in the United Kingdom this week. The full-length, credited solely to Madonna, reappears at No. 50 on the ranking of the bestselling soundtracks across the nation. Evita hasn't been spotted on the Official Soundtrack Albums chart for more than half a decade. The last time it landed on the list was in December 2018, when it resurfaced at No. 42 before disappearing again. Evita Has Logged Over 100 Weeks on the Chart Over the years, Madonna's Evita has spent a total of 109 weeks somewhere on the Official Soundtrack Albums chart. In all that time, the project has cracked the top 10 only once, and just barely. The full-length reached No. 10 in August 2006, and it hasn't returned to that competitive region since. The Evita Revival Played a Big Role Evita is back on people's minds as a revival of the show performs well on the West End in London. West Side Story actress Rachel Zegler leads the production, and this week, she and composer Andrew Lloyd Webber hit No. 1 on several charts in the U.K. with a new take on "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," perhaps the most famous tune from the show. Another Madonna Hit Returns as Well As Evita returns to the Official Soundtrack Albums chart, one of Madonna's earliest hits — one not connected to the film — also rebounds. "Erotica" becomes a top 20 smash once more on both the Official Vinyl Singles and Official Physical Singles tallies, reentering those lists at Nos. 12 and 17, respectively.
