‘Little prick to the ego': Poll shows most Aussies unaware of Labor's economic roundtable
Sky News host Paul Murray discusses how Australian politicians all think they are 'rockstars' and winners of popularity polls. 'Jim Chalmers and the week he is due to have at the economic reform roundtable, now remember when this was supposed to be about productivity, but productivity puts people to sleep but economic reform is a big general term… that also puts people to sleep,' Mr Murray said. 'You know what I love? I love when politicians and, basically all bar a few … they all think they're rockstars.'

Jennifer Holland has 'very little' work-life balance in marriage to DC chief James Gunn
Jennifer Holland admits there isn't much work-life balance in her marriage to DC boss James Gunn. The 37-year-old actress reprises her role as Emilia Harcourt in the second season of her husband's TV show Peacemaker and says that her spouse's responsibilities at the studio can be all-consuming. Jennifer told People: "I've not been, in any way, upset or judgemental with James, but I know that his number one focus right now at this time in his life has been taking on this opportunity that he has at DC with 100 per cent full force. "I think he's doing that with just every ounce of his being, and he wants to make sure that it's everything that the fans could hope for." Jennifer explained how James, 59, is doing his best to put the wishes of the fans first with his stewardship of DC alongside Peter Safran but knows that he is "always going to disappoint some people". She said: "But if anyone could get a little piece of an insider view of what it's like, he just wants to do the characters justice, and he just wants to give it what it deserves for all of these people who've lived with these characters in these comics that they've been reading (and) the characters that the created in their brains and everything. "He's very committed to making it the best that he's able to make it." Holland stars alongside John Cena in Peacemaker and is very complimentary of the WWE legend, who plays the titular character in the series. She said: "We're all just doing our best to service the story, and so it was just an incredible experience, "I couldn't have asked for a better, more professional partner than John in this whole ride from season one to season two, honestly." James and Jennifer got married in 2022 in Aspen, Colorado, with the ceremony attended by guests including Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan and interrupted by a moose. The filmmaker wrote on X - then known as Twitter - at the time: "This weekend I was lucky enough to marry my best friend the love of my life, @jennlholland. "We got married here in Aspen, Colorado at Dunbar Ranch. A moose interrupted the beginning of the ceremony! For those who don't know, moose are the most dangerous wild mammals in North America. But the big dude just wandered by. @MatthewLillard yelled out, 'It's James' Dad!'"

‘Real and right': Why Lynne McGranger wanted Irene's Home and Away exit to matter
It's fair to say there is a tendency in soap land to ensure that every high-profile departure has a high-octane exit to match. Throughout the years, shows such as Home and Away and Neighbours have delivered all sorts of memorable farewells involving earthquakes, explosions, cult kidnappings and, of course, that time Toadie drove his new wife off a cliff on their wedding day. The dramatic goodbye has become a staple of the genre, but when Lynne McGranger decided to call time on her 33-year stint as the loveable Irene on Home and Away, she was determined to do the opposite. 'In Summer Bay, we get abducted, we get blown up in hospitals, we end up in a cult, or we get hit by a bus outside the diner,' says McGranger, who announced her departure in February. 'But I didn't want that for Irene, it had to feel real and right.' For McGranger – whose portrayal of Irene recently earned her the Gold Logie for most popular personality on Australian television – leaving the show presented an opportunity to do something 'educational and age-appropriate'. 'I sat down with Jessica Redmayne, who is one of our beautiful young actresses on the show, she plays Harper,' explains McGranger. 'In 2023, Jess' mum Tina died of Alzheimer's, and that planted the seed in my head.' Dementia is the second leading cause of death among all Australians, and the leading cause of death for Australian women. It's also most prevalent in those aged 65 and over, a fact not lost on the 72-year-old McGranger. 'There are millions of people who watch this show every week, and if Irene's battle could encourage even a few people to seek help if they need it, then it would all be worth it,' says McGranger. After speaking with Redmayne, McGranger approached the show's head writer, Louise Bowes, with a proposal; Irene, one of Home and Away's most loved characters, should exit the series after being diagnosed with dementia.
