Who is Shane Flowers?
Shane Flowers was born on February 10, 1994, and hails from Weymouth in Dorset.
Standing at an impressive 6'4" and weighing in at around 153–160kg, before his Strongman career, Shane was a competitive powerlifter, representing England at international level.
His transition to strongman began during the Covid-19 lockdown, when gym closures forced him to improvise and train with heavy construction items such as bags of sand and weighted scaffolding poles.
He told SunSport: "When Covid-19 hit they shut down all the gyms nationwide.

MENTAL STRENGTH I was homeless and sleeping in barn, now I compete at World's Strongest Man
"With powerlifting you have to train with very specific kit and I no longer had access to that, but I wanted to carry on lifting weights.
"So I literally just bought a budget strongman kit, which was just sandbags and logs — all that kind of stuff.
"I started training on my driveway and realised I was pretty good at it."
Shane's rapid rise
Shane's ascent in the strongman world has been remarkably rapid.
After only eight months of dedicated strongman training, he won England's Strongest Man in 2021 — his debut competition.
The victory propelled him to the Giants Live circuit, where he faced off against elite competitors including the Stoltman brothers and Adam Bishop.
World's Strongest Man launches new career
In his first appearance at Britain's Strongest Man in 2022, Shane finished fourth, narrowly missing a podium spot and a direct qualification for the World's Strongest Man.
He also placed in fifth at Europe's Strongest Man the same year, despite suffering a bicep injury on the final event.
Competition highlights
Shane has consistently delivered strong performances at major events, including:
England's Strongest Man 2021: Winner on debut
Britain's Strongest Man 2022: 4th place
Europe's Strongest Man 2022: 5th place
SCL England 2023: Winner
Giants Live World Open Deadlift Championships 2023: Podium finish with a 430 kg deadlift

In addition to podium finishes, Shane has excelled in events such as the sandbag toss and Atlas Stones, often placing first in these disciplines.
His background in powerlifting gives him a strong foundation in static strength, while his natural athleticism and speed make him a threat in loading races and medleys.
Balancing work and training
Remarkably, Shane has achieved these impressive results while working long hours in the oil industry.
Only recently has he been able to reduce his work hours to focus more on training and recovery, setting up a dedicated strongman gym at home.
He explained: "I basically worked a security role on an oil farm, and I was doing upwards of 84 hours and still trying to coach and train at the same time. I was burning the candle at both ends."
Outside of competition, Shane also works as an online strength coach and maintains an active presence on social media, where he shares training insights and interacts with fans.

The ex-Tottenham star enjoyed the experience so much, the party returned the following night for more football and curry. And he got the result he'd have hoping for too as he watched hometown club Cardiff City beat Swindon 2-1. The 35-year-old, who retired from the game two years ago after a stellar career in which he won five Champions Leagues with Madrid and 111 caps for his country, delighted locals with his 'down-to-earth' charm. He even posed for snaps and signed autographs. The bar manager told the Scottish Sun: "I suspect they were all staying at Gleneagles which is just nearby, but they came here both nights. "He and a few of his pals came along around 6pm, they chose to sit facing the big screens to catch the game - it's the best view in the house. "They had a big feast cooked by our chef Mandeep - who still cooks the delicious recipes he used at Gleneagles. "It obviously went down well - we couldn't believe when they walked back through the doors for round two on Tuesday night. "He was so lovely, polite and down to earth. Micah Richards gasps 'you said that?' as Gareth Bale makes shock revelation live on TV "There was a bit of a crowd on Tuesday night, with the talk spreading through the town, and Gareth was so happy to chat and pose for pictures for fans. "We'd gladly welcome him back - what a lovely customer." It is thought the star, who is well known for his love of golf and has cut his handicap from 'three or four' to just 0.1 since retiring from football, was staying at Gleneagles. Famous faces are often spotted at the quaint, bustling town - with luxury hotel often playing host to the likes of Rod Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence and prince William and Kate. I'm taking a chance on a ‘terrific' 20-1 outsider who simply loves York on day two of the Ebor meeting
There is plenty of value to be had on the Knavesmire MATT CHAPMAN I'm taking a chance on a 'terrific' 20-1 outsider who simply loves York on day two of the Ebor meeting Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) NOT many horses love York like LA TRINIDAD, and I'm hoping the admirable handicapper can at least hit the frame once again on ITV on Thursday afternoon. La Trinidad goes for Roger Fell and Rowan Scott in the hugely competitive Clipper, a Heritage Handicap over a mile. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 The Yorkshire Oaks is the big race on day two of York's Ebor Festival - and Minnie Hauk will have to get her tactics right if she is to reward odds-on backers Credit: Getty So far La Trinidad has raced 47 times in his career, and his form figures at York over the last five years read: 7336-611964-80038-597-5700-35. The son of Bated Breath is back on a mark now of 96 which gives him a chance of a big effort. He ran third here in May off 2lb higher behind Old Cock. He's just a terrific stick and I'm happy to support him for a place. Of course the big race on day two of the Juddmonte International fixture is the Group 1 Pertemps Network Yorkshire Oaks for fillies and mares over 1m4f. It probably will be simple for MINNIE HAUK who will be a short price but tactically this is interesting. I'd imagine Garden of Eden will make the running from Qilin Queen with Minnie Hauk sitting in third and Estrange waiting to pounce. The Epsom and Irish Oaks heroine ultimately will probably be too good in the conditions, with Estrange likely to need a softer surface to show her best. Ryan Moore rides for Aidan O'Brien. In recent times the likes of Snowfall, Enable, Snow Fairy and Alexandrova banged in two Oaks before the Yorkshire equivalent. They were priced at 8-15, 1-4, 5-2 and 4-9 respectively. ITV coverage gets underway today with the Group 2 Lowther Stakes for juvenile fillies over 6f. AMERICA QUEEN was most impressive on debut at Haydock and might be another useful one for Group 1 hero Richard Hughes. A 180,000 euro breeze-up buy in May, the grey was slowly away on debut but came clear inside the final furlong. That was a Class 3 and this is a Group 2 so it will be a very different test, but Moore is booked and she looks a star in the making. There's a sales race in the Harry's Half a Million by Goffs for youngsters over 6f. I liked Italica in this, but now he is out it's really in the hands of TADEJ. With a rating of 106, the Archie Watson runner is already clear in the rankings and he comes to this in banging form having won a Group 3 in Deauville last time. A run on fast ground at Royal Ascot suggests conditions should be no issue even though that success can on good and she ran on soft the time before. Big chance for Hollie Doyle. My hope stepped up to 7f last time and was third in Listed company at Ascot. Prior to that he was a fine winner over 6f at Salisbury. He toughed it out that day under a penalty and he progressed again at the Berkshire track. An each-way selection under James Doyle. Finally the Listed Galtres Stakes over 1m4f. ALICE MONET interests me here for the legend Dermot Weld and Chris Hayes. The daughter of Teofilo has done little wrong, scoring at both Fairyhouse and Leopardstown on her last two starts. Her victory last time came off a mark of 87 in handicap company, so she has a lot more to do here stepped up in trip. But she might be miles better than we have seen so far and Weld is no fool!
