Railbus' crucial development hub in Dubai Silicon Oasis to be ready by May 2026
Railbus, a leading player in solar-powered, autonomous, and elevated transit systems, said it has made major progress on its new engineering and development hub at Dubai Silicon Oasis, and expects to complete the Railbus Development Hub (RDH) by May 2026. Now under construction, the RDH covers 50,000 square feet and will play a crucial role in the company's future plans when complete. Designed to accelerate the creation and deployment of sustainable, next-generation transport systems, it will serve as the backbone of Railbus' global operations. Dubai hub powers Railbus global vision Railbus is a start-up company that creates the first 100 per cent solar-powered mass transportation system. Registered in the US and headquartered in Dubai, the company said the RDH is purpose-built to support every stage of product development – from initial concept to final deployment. Anthony Joy, the Head of Engineering at Railbus, commented: 'This facility will not only centralise our engineering and production efforts but also create an environment where innovative ideas can move quickly from concept to reality. 'The RDH will give our teams the tools and collaborative space needed to deliver world-class sustainable mobility solutions.' The facility will feature several dedicated zones, including… Engineering and Design Centre: Supports full lifecycle management, including structural simulations and safety systems engineering. Assembly and Fabrication Zone: Equipped with modular production stations and advanced manufacturing tools for scalable assembly. Testing and Quality Control Lab: Built for comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and environmental system testing. Innovation Lab: A space for rapid prototyping, materials research, experimental design, and HMI development. Supplier and Integration Hub: Enables close coordination with clients and global subsystem partners. Showroom and Executive Boardroom: Designed for strategic presentations, vehicle displays, and investor engagement. Railbus has been in the news ever since Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced plans to introduce the system during this year's World Government Summit. RTA's plans include a transport system that will feature vehicles measuring 11.5 meters in length and 2.65 meters in width, with each unit carrying 40 passengers at speeds of up to 100kph. According to the Railbus website, the vehicles' lightweight design and flexibility will reduce infrastructure maintenance costs compared to Dubai's Metro track system. The network will be elevated and end-to-end 100 per cent congestion-free. It will be built with ultra-light non-corrosive composite materials, which will be non-disruptive to build and quick to set up. Individual sections will be fabricated off-site, minimising assembly time.

India and China agree to restore flights and trade flow after minsiter Wang's visit
India and China – the two biggest countries in the world that comprise nearly 35 per cent of the planet's population – have agreed to resume direct flights and step up trade and investment flows as they look to rebuild the ties damaged by a border clash in 2020. The border talks covered issues related to pulling back troops both countries have amassed on their border and delimitation of borders and boundary affairs. There was no major breakthrough on those issues, but Beijing said both countries agreed to meet again in China in 2026. However, the two countries have agreed to resume direct flights – without setting up an exact date at the moment – and boost trade and investment, along with smooth facilitation of visas. Direct flights have been suspended since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. At the meeting of the Special Representatives between visiting Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi and National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval, the two sides agreed to create an expert group under the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) on border affairs to explore 'early harvest in boundary delimitation', and to set up another working group under the WMCC to 'advance effective border management' and maintain peace and tranquillity. The statement was issued after minister Wang's two-day visit to New Delhi. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, posted on X about making steady progress after meeting Wang: 'Glad to meet Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Since my meeting with President Xi in Kazan last year, India-China relations have made steady progress guided by respect for each other's interests and sensitivities. I look forward to our next meeting in Tianjin on the sidelines of the SCO Summit. Stable, predictable, constructive ties between India and China will contribute significantly to regional as well as global peace and prosperity.' Glad to meet Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Since my meeting with President Xi in Kazan last year, India-China relations have made steady progress guided by respect for each other's interests and sensitivities. I look forward to our next meeting in Tianjin on the sidelines of the SCO… — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) August 19, 2025 Modi's scheduled visit to China at the end of August to take part in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation will be his first to the country in more than seven years. A readout from the Chinese foreign ministry said Wang told Doval that 'the stable and healthy development of China-India relations is in the fundamental interests of the two countries' people. The two sides should enhance mutual trust through dialogues and expand cooperation'.

India's VVDN to open electronics manufacturing plant in UAE in global push
VVDN Technologies, an Indian electronics design and manufacturing firm, said on Tuesday it will open a new production facility in the United Arab Emirates within four weeks, part of its strategy to expand capacity and serve rising global demand. The Gurugram-based company, which provides product engineering, software, and manufacturing services, said the plant will be equipped for printed circuit board (PCB) assembly, automated product assembly, mechanical manufacturing, and testing and validation. The facility will support production across multiple sectors including telecoms, medical technology, automotive, cameras, and industrial automation. VVDN sets up UAE production hub VVDN said the UAE site was chosen for its strategic location between East and West, enabling easier access to markets in the United States, Europe and the Middle East and North Africa. 'VVDN's new manufacturing facility in the UAE is a major milestone in our journey,' said Gourab Basu, senior vice president for manufacturing commercials. 'The UAE presents a highly attractive environment for manufacturing, thanks to its strategic location, advanced infrastructure, and growing local market. This expansion reflects VVDN's dedication to bringing manufacturing closer to its global clientele while meeting the increasing demand for high-quality, commercially competitive solutions with a quick turnaround.' The company already operates 11 research and development centres and eight factories in India, and has a presence in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, including Vietnam, South Korea and Japan. It said the UAE facility will build on its existing 'backward integration' strategy, allowing tighter control of its supply chain and faster delivery. VVDN, founded in 2007, is headquartered in Gurugram, India, and Fremont, California. The company provides services ranging from hardware and embedded software to cloud solutions, testing, validation and mass manufacturing.
