The million Celtic wingers linked with a transfer to the champions rated and slated

Brendan Rodgers famously quipped about having a million wingers during his first spell in charge at Celtic.
The Hoops boss has had a fair few in his second stint but all of a sudden wide men are thin on the ground at Parkhead.

Star man Jota is out of commission until 2026, Luis Palma looks to be on his way out and there are still questions whether Yang Hyun-jun has what it takes to cut it at the club.

Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda are the main men – even though Maeda played through the middle for half of last season and James Forrest is still around, of course, but at 34 years old now, a 60-game season is a big ask.

It's no wonder Rodgers is looking to strengthen in the wide areas – and has cast his net far and wide.
There might not be a million of them yet, but the Hoops are in the hunt for plenty and here are the names who have shot to the top of the wishlist. Record Sport rates and slates them here...
Benjamin Nygren
The Nordsjaelland wide man is a hot property in Denmark after an impressive season and breakout performances for the Sweden national side.
The 23-year-old was a sensation as a teenager when he burst on to the scene at IFK Goteborg but his big move to Genk didn't quick spark and he spent a couple of seasons in Holland.

He's hit the gas again in Denmark though and was a smash hit for Sweden in recent clashes, notching two goals in three games.

Nygren is heading into the final six months of his contract and could be picked up for a bargain £2million – although there is interest elsewhere.
Michel-Ange Balikwisha
The Royal Antwerp attacker was a target last summer before injury halted the move but he remains on the watch list.
At 24-year-old, he's got bags of experience in Belgian having previously been at Standard Liege and was a regular for the Red Devils at under 21 level.

Balikwisha is heading into the final year of his contract and while Antwerp might be looking for up to £5m, Celts might be able to land him for less.
Sondre Orjasaeter
The Norwegian under 21 cap came close to joining Celts in January but felt he wasn't ready to make the jump from Sarpsborg.

The Hoops haven't gone away though and there's a feeling the time could now be right for the attacker, who can play on either flank or through the middle.

Orjasaeter wouldn't come cheap though. Celtic's £4m bid was bounced in January and Sarpsborg are looking to bank up to £7m after a solid start to the season in Norway.
Nilson Angulo
Celtic scouts have clearly been busy in Belgium land the Anderlecht attacker is another one on the wishlist.
The Ecuador international – who turns 22 this month – has been attracting attention from all over Europe after an impressive display against Brazil last week.

It's thought he could be secured for around £3m – but it would depend on interest from elsewhere.
Raul Moro
Celtic have been watching the Real Valladolid prospect for a while – but they are not the only ones.
Moro was a stand out for the La Liga side during a tough season when they went down and they are looking to cash in.

The Spain under 21 star's value has rocketed though – and it could cost at least £8m to get him in the door.
Nottingham Forest are also thought to be in the hunt, along with Bournemouth and several sides in his homeland.

Josh Smith homers and scores all 3 runs for the Texas Rangers in a 3-1 win over the White Sox

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Josh Smith homered and scored all three Texas runs in his fifth consecutive two-hit game to help the Rangers beat the Chicago White Sox 3-1 on Friday night. The leadoff hitter had a single in the first and scored on Corey Seager's sacrifice fly. Jacob Webb (4-3), the second of seven pitchers in a bullpen game for the Rangers, worked two innings for the victory as they won for the fifth time in six games. Robert Garcia loaded the bases in the ninth before closing out his fifth save in seven chances. White Sox starter Adrian Houser (2-2) allowed three runs and six hits over five innings. After conquering Europe, PSG now have sights set on Club World Cup glory

Paris Saint-Germain players step off their plane after arriving in Los Angeles on Tuesday ahead of the Club World Cup (Frederic J. Brown) Freshly crowned kings of Europe, Paris Saint-Germain arrived this week in the United States for the Club World Cup and are treating FIFA's lucrative new competition not as a nuisance at the end of an exhausting season but as a serious objective. "I think it is an incredible competition," PSG coach Luis Enrique said of the Club World Cup in the immediate aftermath of his team's UEFA Champions League triumph in Munich two weeks ago. Advertisement "Our aim is to be competitive and try to win a fifth trophy of the season." The Qatar-backed French giants could be forgiven for wanting some time to bask in the glory of their 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in Munich which allowed them to finally win the Champions League for the first time in their history. There had been numerous agonising failures in Europe's elite club competition, as well as billions of euros spent on transfer fees on stars like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, prior to captain Marquinhos raising the trophy aloft. "We have made history for the club, for the city and for the whole country," defender Lucas Hernandez told sports daily L'Equipe after the PSG squad paraded their trophy down the Champs-Elysees avenue in Paris, attended a reception with President Emmanuel Macron and celebrated with almost 50,000 fans at their Parc des Princes stadium. Advertisement PSG have played 58 matches since last August and also swept all the available domestic trophies in France this season, as has become the norm in recent years. - No time to stop - But there is simply no time to stop and reflect. Many of their players, including Champions League final hero Desire Doue, spent last week on international duty before returning to their club and departing for Los Angeles, where they will begin their Club World Cup adventure this weekend. "The tournament itself is a really attractive prospect," Luis Enrique told "We have to strike the balance between managing the physical and mental fatigue we're experiencing now at the end of a long season and harnessing the motivation that comes with being involved in the competition." Advertisement PSG's opening game will be against another European heavyweight as they take on Antoine Griezmann's Atletico Madrid at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, just outside Los Angeles, on Sunday. They will then also face South American champions Botafogo, of Brazil, before moving north to take on Seattle Sounders in their remaining Group B matches. Expected to qualify for the knockout phase without too many issues, PSG could end up playing a total of seven matches if they make it all the way to the final in New York on July 13 -- just a month before their scheduled first game of next season in the UEFA Supercup against Tottenham Hotspur. The strain of such a long campaign is telling, with Ousmane Dembele -- their top scorer this season with 33 goals -- struggling with an injury picked up playing for France last week. Advertisement They did not manage to add any new players to their squad during the brief transfer window that opened at the start of this month ahead of the tournament -- reported interest in Bournemouth's Ukrainian defender Illia Zabarnyi did not turn into anything concrete. But the rewards for success in the Club World Cup are enticing and should be enough to keep Luis Enrique's squad focused on their objective, with up to a stunning $125 million in prize money on offer for the best performing European team if they manage to go all the way. bap-as/ea
