Stephen A. Smith was so busted playing solitaire during NBA Finals
Oh no, Stephen A. Smith. This is probably not what you what fans to be focusing on during a terrific 2025 NBA Finals now that the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers are all tied up.
The ESPN personality and maybe future presidential candidate was at Game 4 of the series at Indiana's Gainbridge Fieldhouse to cover the contest, but fans on social media caught him on his phone while the game was going on. And to top it all off, it appears that he was playing the classic Solitaire game to pass the time.

Smith ended up responding to all the attention with a joke ... or maybe he was trying to point out that he was playing Solitaire while watching the game on his phone. But either way, there was a lot of attention paid to Smith not watching the game he was at.

As the No. 3 overall draft pick from the NBA's 2022 first round, the 22-year-old Auburn product is eligible for a contract extension during a window from July 1, 2025, until the start of the 2025-26 regular season in late October. Should he not receive one, Smith will become a restricted free agent in the 2026 offseason, and his likely contract will depend in large part on his play during the upcoming season. To say the least, a production uptick after a positive offseason would help him establish more long-term value. During Houston's first-round series loss to Golden State a few weeks ago, Smith's average minutes total tumbled to just 20.4 (and only 12 in a decisive Game 7 loss to the Warriors). Among frontcourt players, minutes for Smith and Tari Eason were scaled down in the playoffs while Amen Thompson, Alperen Sengun, and Steven Adams all played more. It appears that subpar finish to the 2024-25 season has provided fuel for Smith as he begins the 2025 offseason. 'We didn't finish the season how we wanted to, so I was ready to get back in the gym and work on what I need to work on,' Smith told Alexander. HOUSTON (AP) — Rookie Cam Smith hit a tiebreaking RBI single off closer Jhoan Duran with two outs in the ninth inning to give the Houston Astros a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Saturday. Duran (4-2) walked Christian Walker with one out in the ninth and he moved to third on a two-out single by Jake Meyers. Smith then singled on a grounder to center to score Meyers for his first career walkoff hit and Houston's fourth straight victory. Closer Josh Hader (3-0) struck out two in a scoreless ninth for the win. Both teams got strong performances from their starters. Houston's Hunter Brown allowed three hits and two runs with a career-high 12 strikeouts in seven innings. Minnesota's Joe Ryan yielded two hits and two runs while fanning seven in seven innings. Yainer Diaz hit a two-run homer for Houston in the third and Brooks Lee tied it with his shot in the fifth that extended his career-long hitting streak to 14 games. Bryan Abreu struck out three in a scoreless eighth for the Astros. Brown plunked Byron Buxton on the left elbow to start the sixth before walking Trevor Larnach. But he retired the next three batters, with two strikeouts to escape the jam. Buxton remained in the game for the bottom of the inning but was replaced in center field by Harrison Bader in the bottom of the seventh. The team said he had left because of a bruised left elbow.
