Pro-Palestine thugs are becoming a threat to democracy
If you want to understand the mentality of 21st-century Leftists, you need to read a writer who died decades before they were born. Aldous Huxley is best known as the author of the dystopian novel Brave New World. But, in my view, his most chillingly brilliant lines are to be found in a foreword he supplied for an edition of Samuel Butler's Erewhon, in 1933.
'The surest way to work up a crusade in favour of some good cause,' wrote Huxley, 'is to promise people that they will have a chance of maltreating someone… To be able to destroy with a good conscience, to be able to behave badly and call your bad behaviour 'righteous indignation' – this is the height of psychological luxury, the most delicious of moral treats.'
I remember those words every time I read about the gleeful cruelty of modern progressive 'activists'. Such as the anti-Israel protesters who have taken to targeting Luke Charters, the Labour MP for York Outer.
Last week, Mr Charters has revealed, a group of masked thugs flung a tin of baked beans at him in the street, while chanting, 'Labour, Labour, genocide.' Then, on Saturday, around 20 of them tried to block the entrance to his constituency surgery, while bellowing, 'Luke Charters, you can't hide, we charge you with genocide.' As a result, he says, several constituents were too scared to attend meetings they'd arranged with him.
What on earth could possess someone to think it's acceptable to hurl a tin at an MP (or, indeed, anyone?). Huxley knew. These foaming narcissists clearly believe that their cause is so unimpeachably righteous, they're entitled to bully anyone who doesn't share their fanaticism. And they do it with the most jubilant relish.
Of course, Mr Charters isn't the only MP to be plagued by such people. One night in February last year, a mob of anti-Israel protesters angrily demonstrated outside the family home of the then Tory MP Tobias Ellwood. And last July, the Labour MP Rushanara Ali said that during the election campaign she'd 'spent as much time talking to the police and responding to threats and hostilities as I did talking to voters'. Certain groups, she said, had been 'weaponising' what she called 'legitimate anger about what's happening' in Gaza.
Such behaviour goes far beyond 'peaceful protest'. If frenzied mobs are not only intimidating MPs, but deterring their constituents from visiting them, there can be only one conclusion. Pro-Palestinian thugs are becoming a threat to democracy.
Still, I don't suppose they care. These moral treats are so delicious, they couldn't possibly give them up.

ONE of the UK's worst rapists has been jailed for drugging and attacking women - with 24 potential victims now coming forward. Since launching an international appeal in March this year, 24 women have got in touch to say they may have been raped by Zou. Officers confirmed they will continue to liaise with the Crown Prosecution Services about future potential charges. Detectives examined 1,270 separate videos along with nine million messages recovered from his devices to reveal more victims. They - along with eight of the ten women Zou was convicted of raping - have not been identified by police. Police released an image of jewellery and clothing that the fiend kept as twisted souvenirs in a bid to track down potential victims. During his trial, jurors were told Zou first came to UK in 2017 to study engineering at Queen's University in Belfast. In 2019, he began a master's degree at University College London before beginning a PhD there in 2021. The court heard between 2019 and 2023, he raped two of the women in London, while the other eight were at unknown locations in China. Haunting videos recovered by police showed victims being raped while they were unconscious or semi-conscious and slurring their words. In one, the woman appeared to have bruising to her eye, cheek bone and above the eye brow. 8 8 Another victim, who was drugged but conscious, cried out "I don't want" as she was attacked by Zou. Zou claimed some of the women were "role playing" and all consented to any footage that was taken of them. In harrowing victim impact statements, the women told how they were too terrified to confront Zou. Recalling an attack in 2021, one said: "Stumbling out of the room I found myself in a completely unknown place… exposed and violated without my consent. "For a long time afterwards I blamed myself, wondering if I had given him the wrong impression. "I hated him, but I also hated myself for failing to protect my own body." While a second woman told the court she still wonders "why me" following her own ordeal. In his evidence, the fiend gave a chilling insight into his warped fantasies and revealed his "favourite" type of porn involved sleeping women. He said he preferred it when the women "appear to be still and quiet when they are having sex". When asked by his lawyer Mark Cotter KC if he liked women being asleep, he continued: "Yes, that's my favourite type. But I could not find that." Zou told jurors he instead watched "specialist timestop" pornography. His depraved crimes came to light in November 2023 when one brave woman - a Chinese national - reported him to the police. She told how she was dragged into a bedroom by Zou, who made her drink vodka laced with drugs before he raped her. Officers raided Zou's flat in London and found a variety of date rape drugs including Ketamine, Xanax and MDMA. They also discovered multiple 500ml bottles of Butanediol, which is made into well-known date-rape drug GHB by the body when swallowed. Police recovered his devices, which uncovered an "unprecedented" wealth of material for them to investigate. They found Zou was "constantly" engaged in conversations on social media sites like WeChat and Little Red Book, which led to more than nine million messages being uncovered. Serial rapist who drugged and filmed 10 women in London and China jailed for life
A PhD student suspected of being one of the UK's worst sex offenders has been jailed for life after drugging and raping 10 women in London and China. Zhenhao Zou, 28, had filmed his harrowing attacks on his unconscious victims. Only two of the women have been identified and the other eight yet to be traced. The Chinese national, who had been studying at University College London, had kept a trophy box of women's belongings, which included a red lipstick, earrings and different hair bobbles and clip-on hair extensions. His victims have told of being 'haunted' by his attacks on them, with one saying she had 'lost faith in human beings', and another adding that she had been left with severe physical and psychological distress'. Since his conviction, 24 women have contacted the Metropolitan Police following publicity in the media around Zou's trial to say they think they may have been attacked by him. After a month-long trial, Zou, who was most recently living in Elephant and Castle, southeast London, was found guilty of raping three women in London and another seven in China between September 2019 and May 2023. He was convicted of 11 counts of rape, with two of the offences relating to one victim. During his trial, jurors in the case were forced to watch the disturbing footage, with some left in tears. Zou was also convicted of three counts of voyeurism, 10 of possession of an extreme pornographic image, one of false imprisonment and three of possession of a controlled drug with intent to commit a sexual offence, namely butanediol. He will now serve a life sentence with a minimum term of 24 years behind bars, after being branded a 'sexual predator' by the judge. Jurors heard that Zou comes from a wealthy family, and was able to afford thousands a month in rent to live in an expensive new-rise building as an international student. His flat was full of designer clothes, and he wore a Rolex and had undergone cosmetic procedures including a hair transplant and facial surgery. In a victim impact statement, one of the women he attacked said she felt 'fear' towards Zou, saying his family is 'very powerful' in China. While he appeared to those who met him as a 'smart and charming young man', prosecutors said he is in fact 'a persistent sexual predator, a voyeur and a rapist'. Using WeChat and dating apps, and also using the name Pakho online, Zou would often befriend fellow Chinese students before inviting them for drinks at his flat, where he would drug and rape them. The student first moved to Belfast in 2017 to study mechanical engineering at Queen's University before heading to London in 2019 to do a master's degree and then a PhD at UCL. Eight of his rapes took place at an unknown location in China. His crimes began to be uncovered in November 2023, when a woman went to police to allege that she had been attacked by Zou. There was not enough evidence to bring a criminal charge over her claim, but when Zou's phone was seized officers found disturbing videos of him raping unconscious women, and pipettes and sedating drugs in his flat. One of the two victims who has been identified by police told the jury she was raped after Zou pushed her to drink excessive amounts of alcohol and would not let her leave his flat in Elephant and Castle in May 2023. The second, who is now living in China, said she was also raped by Zou, in his student flat near Russell Square in October 2021, when she was unconscious. Police found hundreds of hours of disturbing videos and photos that he kept, around half of which are thought to have been filmed in the UK and half in China. The case has chilling parallels with Reynhard Sinaga, 41, who was jailed for life in January 2020 at Manchester Crown Court after being found guilty of 159 counts of sexual offences against 48 different men. He also befriended his victims and invited them back to his flat, before drugging and sexually assaulting them. One of his victims said: 'I experienced for the first time a loss of consciousness. I opened my eyes for a few seconds during the sexual assault in his room, he was thrusting violently against my body. 'I was completely powerless and could only use all my strength to tell him I was menstruating and demand he stop his actions. 'Although I lost consciousness just moments later, his face in that moment will clearly stay in my mind forever. As a result, I now experience severe physical and psychological distress.' The woman also told of feeling 'waves of nausea and disgust' after she was attacked. She added: 'I know words will never fully convey the depth of this wound. But one thing is certain, what happened that night is etched into my soul forever. His face, his expression – they will never leave me. I will never forgive him.' UK detectives have said the Chinese authorities were 'responsive and helpful' over the investigation into Zou, although no properties where he lived in China have been searched even though many of his crimes took place on Chinese soil. After Zou's trial, they began discussions with China about whether social media appeals to potential victims could be made on WeChat and Little Red Book, which are more commonly used in the country. Zou was convicted of rapes that he committed in China in a UK court because foreign nationals living in Britain can be convicted of crimes committed abroad if the act is an offence in both countries.

Zhenhao Zou: Student who drugged and raped 10 women in London and China jailed for life
A Chinese PhD student found guilty of drugging and raping 10 women has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 22 years. Zhenhao Zou, 28, was convicted of multiple sexual assaults on women in the UK and China in March, where he used drugs to incapacitate his victims before raping them. The trial at Inner London Crown Court heard how he used the drug butanediol to render his victims unconscious, and how he used hidden cameras to record nine of his assaults. 3:16 Jurors found him guilty of 11 counts of rape against 10 women between 2019 and 2023. Three of these women were raped in London and seven in China. Only two of his victims were identified during the trial. Since his conviction, police have now identified one of the other victims involved in this case. The prosecution said Zou embarked on a "campaign of offending of the utmost gravity". He targeted young Chinese women, inviting them to his flat for drinks or to study before he drugged and assaulted them. Zou used hidden cameras or his mobile phone to record the attacks, keeping the footage and sometimes the women's belongings as souvenirs. Officers discovered nearly 1,300 videos in one of the biggest cases the Met's digital forensics lab has ever dealt with. The rape material the jury had to watch was so graphic that jurors have been excused from jury service for two decades. During the sentencing hearing, the victim impact statements of three women were read out. The first said she'd woken up to find the former PhD student raping her in 2021. She said it happened while "unconscious" after being out drinking for four or five hours with friends in London's Chinatown. The woman said: "That moment will clearly stay in my mind forever. As a result, I now experience severe physical and psychological distress. The memories trigger migraines, physical pain in the places he violated, and an overwhelming urge to scrub myself clean. "To this day, I struggle to trust anyone. I avoid new friendships, trapped in the aftermath of what he did." The second victim was raped while "drunk and unconscious" at Zou's flat in London's Elephant and Castle in May 2023. Zou filmed the attack and took intimate images without her knowledge using a small camera by the bed. "No matter what I did, I could not sleep; whenever I closed my eyes, the events of what happened to me kept replaying in my mind," she said in her statement, outlining her "mental agony and pain". "I am not sure anything will help what I have gone through. The only thing I want him to know is that if he does this again, I will do everything in my power to send him back to prison." The third woman was unidentified during the trial until she came forward as part of the police appeal. This woman was raped at an unknown location in China, and Zou filmed her rape while she was unconscious. She told the court: "When I recently saw that face again in the news reports, my trembling body reacted faster than my conscious mind. Now insomnia and anxiety rage anew. "Reliving this feels like I'm being forced to watch my past self endure repeated violations." Zou is currently at the heart of the UK's largest rape investigation. Following Zou's conviction, investigators shared that they believed Zou's offending was on a much larger scale than the 11 rape convictions. Metropolitan Police detectives believe Zou could be the "most substantial and prolific offender we've come across in recent times". Officers believe more than 50 other women could also be victims of Zou, which would make him one of the worst sex offenders the UK has ever seen. Investigators have further video material showing unidentified women being attacked, and police believe around 25 of those incidents happened in the UK and 25 in China. An international appeal was launched for these women to come forward, resulting in 24 reporting that they may have been raped by Zou. It's understood that some of these women form part of the 50 additional women that police say have also been targeted by the former University College London student. Police are particularly keen to hear from women from the Chinese student community who may have met Zou and were living in and around London between 2019 and 2024. Following the sentencing, the Metropolitan Police said the reports made by 24 women "continue to be investigated thoroughly by a dedicated team of officers" and the force "will continue to liaise with the Crown Prosecution Service around potential future charges". 0:46 Commander Kevin Southworth said: "First and foremost, our thoughts have always been with the courageous victim-survivors of Zou's heinous and predatory crimes." He added: "I hope the fact Zou can no longer harm others serves as a small amount of comfort to the women who have suffered immeasurably. "I would also like to take this opportunity to stress that our investigation remains open and we continue to appeal to anyone who may think they have been a victim of Zou. Please come forward and speak with our team - we will treat you with empathy, kindness and respect." Zou first moved to Belfast in 2017 to study mechanical engineering at Queen's University before moving to London in 2019. He then studied for a Master's degree at University College London from 2019 to 2021, followed by a PhD at the same university from 2021. Police say "investigators have not received any reports from women who met Zou while he was living in Belfast but remain in contact with Police Service Northern Ireland", but that anyone with concerns should come forward.
