'Was getting a lot of complaints': Anupamaa producer Rajan Shahi breaks silence on Alisha Parveen's abrupt termination
Anupama, featuring Rupali Ganguly as the protagonist, is one of the top shows in the Hindi television industry. While the show is mostly in the news for its twists and turns, it has also remained in the news for its actors leaving the show one after the other. Actor Alisha Parveen was cast as Anupama 's adopted daughter, Rahi, however, her tenure in the show was short-lived. The actress claimed that her termination was abrupt. However, in an interview with Vickey Lalwani, show's producer Rajan Shahi spoke at length about what exactly transpired.
Rajan Shahi shared, "Certain things were very good about the said actor (Alisha Parveen) when there was one sort of a performance but there were stages of performances. Ultimately, it was a love story, which she had been told. Hum apni taraf se poori effort karenge (We took all the efforts from our end) but that energy level was not there to match that part with the love story that was happening. So, I was getting a lot of complaints from the creative team and my directors saying that 'nahi hai un mein x-factor' (There's no x-factor in her). Ek performance jahan high energy thi, cheekha chilli thi, emotions correct tha, aap talent ko ek baar do baar chaar baar meetings huyi, it was not an abrupt call. The channel was also seeing and there was a lot of disappointment from their side that it (the performance) was not up to the mark."
He continued, "One month before the termination, I had a talk with her at an award function that the director is very unhappy, and this was told directly. It's not like it was not told and then suddenly you are told to leave.
Recalling what Alisha claimed after her dismissal from the show, Rajan Shahi shared, "There were a lot of allegations made. She said that somebody was responsible for my going. Vo ek bachkaani baatein thi, vo ek self defense tha, vo apna justify karne vali baat thi. Hum zyada ghuse nahi kyunki humein bhi next sochna hai. (That was a childish move for her self-defense. She wanted to justify herself. We didn't dive much into this matter because we wanted to think about the next step.) I could make out that extra effort was not being made there and she said that she was unable to get the romance with her onscreen partner (Shivam Khajuria)."
Rubbishing all the allegations made by Alisha Parveen, Rajan Shahi said that when the production house grooms an actor, does multiple workshops, and invests time in them, is because they want to have a longer journey, otherwise, why would anyone invest so much time in any actor. At that point, I had to take a leap of faith because it was very critical for me."
Previously, in an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, Gaurav Khanna was asked if Rupali Ganguly was the reason behind him quitting the show. To know, what he said, watch the video below:
Sudhanshu Pandey, Madalsa Sharma, Paras Kalnawat are a few names among others who quit Anupama.

UP Police's 'Housefull 5'-inspired road safety post garners praise from Riteish Deshmukh
Lucknow, The Uttar Pradesh Police has used a creative social media post inspired by the recently released Hindi film "Housefull 5" to promote road safety and highlight the importance of wearing helmets. The post has drawn appreciation from actor Riteish Deshmukh, who is part of the film's ensemble cast. On June 9, UP Police shared a graphic on their official X account, mimicking Housefull 5's distinctive double climax format. The police post offered two contrasting visuals as "climax choices" for two-wheeler riders, one showing a man wearing a helmet and another showing the same man with a head injury and bandage, having not worn a helmet . The caption cleverly read: "Book your climax wisely". The post quickly gained traction on social media, clocking over 1.32 lakh views, 1,200 likes, and around 650 retweets within 24 hours. Joining the chorus of appreciation, "Housefull 5" actor Riteish Deshmukh quote-tweeted the post and commented: "Be Responsible ' Make the right choice. @Uppolice #RoadSafety #Helmet" The state police headquarters on Tuesday confirmed that the post was issued on the instructions of Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna as part of an ongoing campaign to increase public awareness on road safety through engaging digital content. In a press statement, UP Police said, "The post was created to encourage helmet usage in a relatable and entertaining manner. Using pop culture references helps connect better with the public, especially youth. Our aim is to ensure safety messages are seen, understood, and followed." The department added that it has consistently used creative campaigns to spread awareness on important civic and traffic issues. In the past, actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Manoj Bajpayee, Disha Patani, Emraan Hashmi, and Ali Fazal have also engaged with UP Police's social media posts. Housefull 5, the latest installment of the popular comedy franchise, features Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan, among others. The film has generated buzz for offering two alternate endings, giving audiences a choice in how the story concludes an idea the police cleverly repurposed for their road safety campaign. Uttar Pradesh is among the states recording most number of road accidents, injuries and fatalities. So far this year, over 7,700 road users have lost their lives in road crashes in the state, according to an official data accessed by PTI.

The release model will be flexible, with show counts increasing in real-time based on audience response. A source close to the project revealed, 'The makers were exploring several release ideas, and the plan at the moment is to bring the film on approximately 1250 screens.
