Actor Karan Tacker, best known for his powerful performance as Farooq Ali in Kay Kay Menon starrer Special Ops 2, has come a long way in his acting journey. Starting in television, he gained popularity for his charming presence but yearned to break out of the typical roles. Over the years, he worked hard to refine his craft and patiently waited for the right opportunities. His role in Special Ops and Khakee: The Bihar Chapter marked a turning point, showcasing his depth as an actor and earning him critical acclaim. How was Karan Tacker's road to success to establish himself?
During a conversation with India.com, when Karan was asked about how was his entire journey as outsider, without having ties within industry, Karan mentioned that he started from Television industry because films won't accept him as hero. Karan said, ' It was definetely not easy, the reason I started from television was films would not accept me as lead, aur mujhe 15 saal lage hain apne kaam ko prove karne mein ki main kaam kar sakta hoon. Aaj main jis kisi mein kaam karta hoon, wo meri dridhta ki wajah se hai and main isme laga hua hoon kyunki mujhe kaam karna acha lagta hai, toh main inn cheezon ko apne raaste mein aane nahin deta ki main kis medium se aata hu ya kya meri dikkatein kitni rahi hain, but definetely, ek outsider ke liye iss industry mein kaam karna bilkul aasan nahi rehta because of the multiple facts like, if you put it as a journalist that it's challenging to get outsider the same work that everyone is doing.'
He further continued and said, ' But, ummeed yahi hoti hai that you keep working and keep working hard kyunki, jo aapka kaam hai wahi aapke liye sabse bada spokesperson ban jata hai and usi ki badaulat apko naya kaam milta hai.' (But, it is expected that you keep working and keep working hard because your work becomes the biggest spokesperson for you and because of that, you get new work.) Karan Tacker on his working experience in the TV industry
Speaking further, Karan also shared about his days from the television industry and about the hectic schedules, pay disparity and how was his experience of transitioning into films and OTT sector. Karan said, ' Mujhe pay disparity ke baare mein itna pata nahi hai, but as far as TV as medium is concerned, I think television is a more female-centric medium than a male-centric medium. So usually its the women who are getting paid. So, usually, it's the women who are getting paid and the narrative is around them more than the men.'
Karan continued and spoke about transitioning and working in all three sectors. He said, ' Koi challenge aise hai nahi, like har kaam ka apna ek challenge hota hai, aaj aap office jaate hain but jab aapki chutti rehti hai aur uss din apko koi kaam par bula le toh aap usko zindagi se jodkar toh baith nahi jayenge, kyunki ye ek kaam hai aur aapko kaam karne ke liye bulaya hai toh apko kaam karna hai. I think, as actor hum bhi use karte hai iss principle ko ki har ek medium ka apna tarika hai kaam karne ka, har ek medium ka apna ek working style hai. Mera bas yahi maanna hai ki as long as mere paas kaam hai toh sabse important wo hai mere liye, ab wo chahe mujhse 1 ghanta kaam karwayein ya 20 ghante, main kaam karne mein zyada khush hoon, kyunki mujhe cheezon ko lekar zyada complaint karne ki aadat aise rahi nahin hai toh main naa tab TV mein karta tha, naa ab OTT mein karta hoon, main kaam ko lekar humesha excited hi rehta hoon, kyunki as an actors hum kitne hi din kaam kar lein ek saal mein 200 din, ab unn 200 dinon mein bhi khaami nikaalna mera general attitude hai nahin. '
(There is no challenge like this, like every work has its own challenge, today you go to office but when you are free and that day someone calls you for some work, you will not link it to your life and sit down, because this is a work and you have been called to do work so you have to do the work. I think, as actors we also use this principle that every medium has its own way of doing work, every medium has its own working style. I just believe that as long as I have work then that is the most important thing for me. Now whether he makes me work for 1 hour or 20 hours, I will be happier working because I do not have the habit of complaining too much about things, so neither did I work in TV then, nor do I work in OTT now. I am always excited about work because as actors we may work for how many days, 200 days in a year, now finding faults even in those 200 days is not my general attitude.)
