Mawhiba Launches Preparatory Program for Global Scientific Competitions
The King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education, has launched a preparatory program for international participation in the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity (Ibdaa 2025). The initiative aims to equip students for the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2025) in the United States, scheduled for May, and the Taipei International Science Fair (TISF) in Taiwan.
Hosted at the Mishkat Interactive Center in King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, Riyadh, the program runs until February 26. It brings together 50 talented students—19 male and 31 female—representing 15 educational districts. Moreover, throughout the program, mentors will evaluate student projects, develop action plans for enhancement, and provide ongoing guidance leading up to the final competition submissions.
Participants will engage in workshops focused on presentation skills, project exhibition strategies, and competition judging criteria. Additionally, the Scientific Ethics Committee will ensure that all projects adhere to ethical research standards.

Saudi Arabia Secures 23 Awards at ISEF 2025
The Saudi Science and Engineering Team has exceled at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2025), winning 23 awards, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). Held in Columbus, Ohio, from May 10-16, 2025, ISEF 2025 saw the participation on 1,700 students from 70 countries. Saudi Team at ISEF 2025 The Saudi national team comprised 40 students who participated with outstanding projects in promising scientific fields. They won a total of 23 awards, including 14 grand awards and 9 special awards. The grand awards won by the Saudi team at ISEF 2025 included 3 in the second place; 5 in the third place; and 6 in the fourth place. Impressive Track Record Saudi Arabia's participation in ISEF is supported by the Saudi Ministry of Education and the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba). Since 2007, the Kingdom has been an active participant in ISEF, the largest global competitive scientific forum for high school students in the fields of science and engineering. With the outstanding accomplishment in the latest edition, Saudi Arabia's record at ISEF has reached 183 awards, including 124 grand awards and 59 special awards. Saudi students win nine Special Awards at ISEF 2025
RIYADH: Students from Saudi Arabia have picked up nine Special Awards at this year's Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), which was held in Colombus, Ohio, in the US from May 10 to 16. At the time of writing, winners of the Grand Awards had yet to be announced. More than 1,700 students representing 70 countries participated in this year's ISEF, which is billed as the largest global platform for research and innovation projects by school students. Entries are evaluated by more than 1,000 international science experts. The Saudi students who won Special Awards were Fatima Al-Arfaj (chemistry), Areej Al-Qarni and Saleh Al-Anqari (environmental engineering), Abdulrahman Al-Ghannam (materials science), and Sama Bukhamseen (embedded systems). Imran Al-Turkistani (energy), and Lana Nouri (translational medical sciences) each won two awards. Saudi Arabia, represented by The King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) and the Ministry of Education, has participated in the annual fair every year since 2007. It has now won 169 awards, including 110 Grand Prizes and 59 Special Prizes. The Saudi team this year consisted of 40 students selected from among the Grand Prize winners of the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity — the finals of which featured projects from 200 students. The Olympiad is one of the dozens of programs offered annually by Mawhiba for gifted students.
