Qatari students win advanced global rankings and special awards at Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2025
DOHA: Qatari students participating in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2025), held in Columbus, Ohio, USA, from May 10 to 16, achieved remarkable accomplishments that confirmed the research and innovation excellence of Qatari students on the global stage. Students Nawaf Al-Amri and Khalid Al-Sulaiti from Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys won fourth place globally (Grand Award) in the Implicit Systems category, for their innovative research project entitled ' Drone-Enabled H2S Gas Leak Detection with Geofencing for Enhanced Worker Safety'. Students Ali Al Hammadi and Fahad Al Tamimi from the same school also won fourth place globally (Grand Award) in the Microbiology category, for their research project, ' Assessment and Development of Biotechnological Testing Methods for Detecting Bacterial Contaminants in Unlicensed Artesian Wells around Doha'. In an additional achievement that reflects the integration of institutional support, student Aya bint Nabil from Al Kawthar Secondary School for Girls received a full university scholarship from the Saudi Mawhiba Foundation at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals for her outstanding research project, ' Hormonal Harmony or Discord? Unraveling the Influence of Social Media Engagement on Cortisol Dynamics and Stress Perception in Emerging Adulthood'. The Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation Council also awarded students Ali Al Hammadi and Fahad Al Tamimi a special award in recognition of their outstanding research project. Minister of Education and Higher HELolwah bint Rashid Al Khater congratulated the students in a social media post. "Thank you for your dedication and efforts, you have warmed our hearts and raised our heads high among nations," she added. These ambitious achievements embody the fruit of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education's vision to empower students with research and innovation skills, with strategic support from the Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation Council. This is in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to prepare a generation capable of innovation and effective contribution to building a competitive knowledge-based economy. This distinction confirms Qatar's growing presence in international scientific forums and reflects the level of scientific and research maturity our students have reached, thanks to the integrated care and educational environment that stimulates innovation.

Saudi Arabia Secures 23 Awards at ISEF 2025
The Saudi Science and Engineering Team has exceled at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2025), winning 23 awards, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). Held in Columbus, Ohio, from May 10-16, 2025, ISEF 2025 saw the participation on 1,700 students from 70 countries. Saudi Team at ISEF 2025 The Saudi national team comprised 40 students who participated with outstanding projects in promising scientific fields. They won a total of 23 awards, including 14 grand awards and 9 special awards. The grand awards won by the Saudi team at ISEF 2025 included 3 in the second place; 5 in the third place; and 6 in the fourth place. Impressive Track Record Saudi Arabia's participation in ISEF is supported by the Saudi Ministry of Education and the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba). Since 2007, the Kingdom has been an active participant in ISEF, the largest global competitive scientific forum for high school students in the fields of science and engineering. With the outstanding accomplishment in the latest edition, Saudi Arabia's record at ISEF has reached 183 awards, including 124 grand awards and 59 special awards. Prestigious Awards At ISEF 2025, Saudi students showed unparalleled skills and talent in various scientific disciplines. The second place went to three Saudi students: Maryam Al-Muhaysh (energy), and Areej Al-Qarni and Jiwan Shaabi (environmental engineering). The special awards went to Fatima Al-Arfaj (chemistry), Areej Al-Qarni and Saleh Al-Angari (environmental engineering), Abdulrahman Al-Ghannam (material sciences), and Sama Bukhamseen (embedded systems). Saudi students win 23 awards at ISEF 2025 in Ohio

This year's delegation included 40 students presenting cutting-edge projects in fields such as energy, environmental engineering, medical sciences, plant sciences, and materials science. Saudi Arabia's total medal count at ISEF since its first participation in 2007 has now reached 183 awards, including 124 grand prizes and 59 special awards. Dr. Khaled Al-Sharif, acting secretary-general of the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), said the achievement is a result of strategic cooperation between Mawhiba, the Ministry of Education, and other national partners. He emphasized the importance of such partnerships in nurturing young talent and projecting the Kingdom's scientific excellence globally. Saudi student joins global panel at ISEF 2025 for second year in a row

Saudi Students Arrive in USA for ISEF 2025
A delegation of 40 talented Saudi students specializing in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) has arrived in Columbus, Ohio, to participate in the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2025). The event, taking place from May 10 to 16, is expected to bring together more than 1,700 students from 70 countries. Representing the Kingdom through the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) and the Ministry of Education, Saudi Arabia has been a consistent presence at ISEF since 2007, earning a total of 160 awards to date. The Saudi team has completed a year-long intensive training program led by Mawhiba, which included expert evaluations and six progressive stages aimed at enhancing research and presentation skills, ensuring their readiness for this prestigious global competition.
