Qatari students win advanced global rankings and special awards at Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2025

DOHA: Qatari students participating in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2025), held in Columbus, Ohio, USA, from May 10 to 16, achieved remarkable accomplishments that confirmed the research and innovation excellence of Qatari students on the global stage.
Students Nawaf Al-Amri and Khalid Al-Sulaiti from Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys won fourth place globally (Grand Award) in the Implicit Systems category, for their innovative research project entitled '
Drone-Enabled H2S Gas Leak Detection with Geofencing for Enhanced Worker Safety'.
Students Ali Al Hammadi and Fahad Al Tamimi from the same school also won fourth place globally (Grand Award) in the Microbiology category, for their research project, '
Assessment and Development of Biotechnological Testing Methods for Detecting Bacterial Contaminants in Unlicensed Artesian Wells around Doha'.
In an additional achievement that reflects the integration of institutional support, student Aya bint Nabil from Al Kawthar Secondary School for Girls received a full university scholarship from the Saudi Mawhiba Foundation at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals for her outstanding research project, '
Hormonal Harmony or Discord? Unraveling the Influence of Social Media Engagement on Cortisol Dynamics and Stress Perception in Emerging Adulthood'.
The Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation Council also awarded students Ali Al Hammadi and Fahad Al Tamimi a special award in recognition of their outstanding research project.
Minister of Education and Higher HELolwah bint Rashid Al Khater congratulated the students in a social media post.
"Thank you for your dedication and efforts, you have warmed our hearts and raised our heads high among nations," she added.
These ambitious achievements embody the fruit of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education's vision to empower students with research and innovation skills, with strategic support from the Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation Council. This is in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to prepare a generation capable of innovation and effective contribution to building a competitive knowledge-based economy. This distinction confirms Qatar's growing presence in international scientific forums and reflects the level of scientific and research maturity our students have reached, thanks to the integrated care and educational environment that stimulates innovation.

Qatar Investment Authority, Msheireb Properties sign strategic partnership to advance sustainable urban development

DOHA: Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and Msheireb Properties have signed a strategic partnership to accelerate the expansion of sustainable urban projects in the State of Qatar. Under the agreement, QIA will become a strategic shareholder in Msheireb Properties, joining Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, which retains its majority stake of 51%. QIA has acquired a 49% stake in Msheireb Properties, underlining its confidence in the company's pioneering approach and integrated model for developing sustainable and human-centric smart cities. The partnership aims to fast-track innovative, human-centric real estate initiatives aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the country's drive for economic diversification and environmental sustainability. It also aligns with QIA's mandate to support the development of a competitive Qatari economy and support the advancement of Qatar's Third National Development Strategy (NDS3). The collaboration opens new avenues for Msheireb Properties to expand its award-winning model, following the success of Msheireb Downtown Doha, the first fully redeveloped and sustainable city district in the world. The partnership reinforces Qatar's ambition to lead as a global hub for sustainable development, especially in light of international efforts to reduce emissions and achieve carbon neutrality.
