Green energy corporation to lease barren land for solar projects in Tamil Nadu
A senior TNGECL official told TNIE, 'We plan to take land under the Centre's Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme. For the planned solar panel capacity of 420 MW, we will need around 1,300 acres of land.' In the first phase, the corporation had already installed solar plants with a capacity of 3 MW in Ranipet and Vellore districts.
'We are waiting for approval from the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission to go ahead with another 11 MW. Once the lands are identified and approvals are received, tenders will be floated to select project developers,' the official said. Another official explained that these kinds of solar plants should ideally be located within a five-kilometre radius of power substations operated by Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited to avoid high cost of transmission power lines.
The official further said that the discom will sign a 25-year agreement with the developers to purchase power.

Ahmedabad: A city sessions court on Friday granted bail to the Khyati Multispecialty Hospital CEO, Chirag Rajput, in connection with the alleged scam of issuing Ayushman cards to ineligible people to get the benefits of the govt's free healthcare scheme – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). Modi to release 20th installment of PM-Kisan from Varanasi today
Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Saturday disburse the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan scheme from Varanasi, injecting Rs 20,500 crore into the accounts of 9.7 crore farmers nationwide. Aug 2 — the day of release of the 20th installment — will be observed as the 'PM-Kisan Day'. Under the scheme, financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per year is transferred to the bank accounts — in three equal installments, every four months — of landholder farmers' families across the country through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. Modi In Varanasi: From PM-KISAN To Infra, Prime Minister To Unveil Development Projects Worth Rs 2,200 Cr In Uttar Pradesh
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi tomorrow where he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects worth around Rs 2,200 crore at around 11 AM. He will also address the gathering on the occasion. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already reached the city to review the preparations and will be with the Prime Minister during the day. During the event, Prime Minister modi will release the 20th instalment of PM-KISAN. An amount of more than Rs 20,500 crore will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of over 9.7 crore farmers across the country. With this release, the total disbursement under the scheme since its inception will surpass Rs 3.90 lakh crore. The projects cater to multiple sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, urban development and cultural heritage aim at achieving holistic urban transformation, cultural rejuvenation, improved connectivity, and enhanced quality of life in Varanasi. Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several key infrastructure projects. He will inaugurate the widening and strengthening of the Varanasi - Bhadohi road and Chhitauni- Shool Tankeshwar road; and Railway Overbridge at Hardattpur, to ease congestion on the Mohan Sarai - Adalpura Road. He will also lay the foundation stone of a Homoeopathic College and Hospital. Further, he will inaugurate an Animal Birth Control Centre and associated Dog Care Centre. The Prime Minister will inaugurate a synthetic hockey turf at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Sports Stadium. Enhancing facilities for law enforcement personnel, Prime Minister will inaugurate a 300-capacity Multipurpose Hall at Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) Ramnagar and lay the foundation stone for Quick Response Team (QRT) Barracks.
