Archie Comics goes Pinoy with Filipino-inspired cover featuring halo-halo

Archie and the gang just got a delightful Filipino twist!
Archie Comics has debuted a special Philippine-exclusive cover of "Betty & Veronica" featuring the country's beloved dessert: halo-halo.
The cover reimagines the franchise's 'three on a straw' moment where, instead of sharing a milkshake, Archie, Betty, and Veronica are seen enjoying a tall glass of halo-halo, with shaved ice, ube ice cream, and barquillos.
In a press release, SuperManila Comic Con announced that the limited-edition variant cover was created specifically for its upcoming event happening on September 6 and 7 at One Ayala in Makati City.
The cover art is the work of longtime Archie artist and writer Dan Parent, who will meet fans during the convention.
The comic will also mark the world debut of a brand-new character, Medusa Doom, who is described as a mysterious and mischievous green-skinned villain.
'This collaboration is a dream come true for Filipino Archie fans,' SuperManila Comic Con co-organizer Sandy Sansolis said in a statement. 'We're incredibly proud to partner with Archie Comics to deliver something fun, unique, and a little mischievous with Medusa Doom's debut.'
Fans will have the opportunity to acquire the exclusive variant in two limited editions: a trade dress version and a virgin variant, the latter showcasing Parent's artwork in full with a text-free layout.
Tickets for SuperManila Comic Con 2025 are now available online. —Carby Rose Basina/JCB, GMA Integrated News

'Pinoy Big Brother' Big Four duos exchange promises and heartfelt final messages

The Big Four of 'Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition' offered their duo partners heartwarming messages and promises ahead of the announcement of the Big Winner Duo. River Joseph admitted that it was 'super unexpected' that he'd be best friends with AZ Martinez. 'I'm so proud of you, how much you've grown, you kept pushing 'til the end and always had faith in God. And me, I'm super proud that I was part of that journey also. I promise that I'll always be a big brother to you, even outside of this house. I'll always be there,' he said. AZ said that she cannot imagine her PBB journey without River. 'You always want to be there for other people. You want to fill their cups. I'll always be here to fill yours. I promise to always be there when you need someone. I'll always be there to listen to you, like how you listen to me. I'll always be there to have faith in you,' she said. Mika Salamanca and Brent Manalo expressed their gratitude for each other. 'I would say you became my best friend in the house. We were honest with each other and we really protected each other even when we weren't duos,' Brent said. 'Thank you, Mika. Thank you for keeping me in check.' 'I'm always going to be proud of you. I'm always going to love you, proud of you, kung sino ka, kung sino pa 'yung magiging ikaw,' Mika replied. Meanwhile, Charlie Fleming told Esnyr that he allowed her to be "more comfortable in her story.' She called Esnyr 'someone I can relate to, someone I can share stories to, someone who can really understand me.' Esnyr likewise said that he felt validated when Charlie chose him as her final duo. 'Pangako, I will be your ate-kuys dito sa bahay o sa outside world man,' he said. Will Ashley and River Joseph vowed that they will always be there for each other, even outside the house. ''Yung ma-pa-promise ko lang talaga bro, pagiging magkapatid, hanggang paglabas 'yan bro. Hindi mababago 'yung nabuo natin dito,' Will said. Ralph in turn told him, 'Lahat ng mga plano natin, hindi lang drawing yan. Isang tawag lang talaga, andun ako. It's the least I could do for someone who supported me throughout this whole 100 plus days. Let me do the same.' Mika and Brent were named the big winners of the season during the Big Night held at New Frontier Theater on Saturday. Will Ashley and Ralph De Leon placed second, Charlie Fleming and Esnyr placed third, and AZ Martinez and River Joseph placed fourth. —JCB, GMA Integrated News

AZ Martinez, River Joseph are 4th big placer on 'Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition'

The duo of AZ Martinez and River Joseph has been named as the fourth big placer of 'Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition.' Clad in matching X outfits, the X duo was awarded on the New Frontier Theater stage during the Big Night on Saturday. X garnered X % of votes to save and X % of votes to evict. 'Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition' started airing on March 9 with a total of 20 housemates — 10 Kapuso and 10 Kapamilya — entering the house. For the first time, the reality show followed a duo format, creating a variety of one Kapuso housemate and one Kapamilya housemate pairings throughout the weeks. The edition also marked the first time that PBB aired on GMA Network. The major collaboration is in celebration of the show's 20th anniversary. CharEs was the first duo to enter the Big Four after being voted by the remaining duos and the house challengers, while RaWi, AzVer, and BreKa won the remaining slots through the Big Jump challenges. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
