Toni Braxton slammed for wearing 'inappropriate' lingerie-style outfit to her son's graduation

Daily Mail15-05-2025

Toni Braxton is being dragged for the outfit she wore to her son's graduation, with social media users branding the ensemble 'inappropriate.'
The 57-year-old He Wasn't Man Enough singer took a trip to Washington, D.C., to watch her son Diezel, 22, collect his college degree from Howard University over the weekend.
However, the sweet moment was overshadowed online by Toni's attire as she turned heads in what appeared to be a black sheer button down shirt that showed her bra and a mesh see-through skirt that exposed her thighs.
She accessorized the striking look with a black hat and large black sunglasses, while elevating her small frame in black heels.
Proud mom Toni shared a video of Diezel walking across the stage to collect his degree.
Captioning the upload, she penned: 'I got the best Mother's Day gift! My son is officially a HOWARD UNIVERSITY GRADUATE!!
'I'm so proud of you @diezel.braxton and can't wait to see all the amazing things you'll accomplish! YOU DID THAT! Proud #BoyMom.'
Diezel also shared a series of snaps from his milestone moment, including a close-up of his mom's striking ensemble.
However, social media users were quick to call out Toni's look as 'not appropriate' and even likened it to 'lingerie' as they accused the singer of upstaging her son.
Taking to the comments on Instagram, one asked: 'What in the holy moly is that she's wearing?'
Another said: 'She made sure his graduation was NOT about him. How sad.'
'Ain't no way you wore that sh** to his big day dressed like it's a pimps funeral,' added a third. 'What be wrong with people these days? Like for real. THIS is weird. No Sun dress. No pant suit. Nothing light and motherly. THIS!'
A fourth continued: 'That was so not appropriate at a graduation, for your child especially!'
'Congratulations,' wrote another. 'Too bad your momma outfit is getting all the attention, next time Toni wear something more appropriate.'
A sixth added: 'I love THE Toni Braxton but respectfully, what does she have on at her son's graduation?'
'Why is Toni wearing lingerie to her son's graduation?' asked a seventh.

Toni shares Diezel Ky and Denim Cole with her ex-husband, singer-songwriter Keri Lewis, whom she was married to from 2001 to 2013.
Last month, it was reported that Toni had a secret wedding with her longtime boyfriend, rapper Birdman, last August.
However, according to TMZ, two days later they separated and she filed for divorce two weeks after that with her attorney stating that the marriage was 'irretrievably broken.'
Toni and Birdman first started dating in 2016 and were on-and-off for two years before getting engaged in February 2018. They then called off the engagement in 2019.
Early last year she denied that they had secretly tied the knot.
Toni and Birdman were not together in early 2024 when she said she was 'looking forward' to dating again.
She told People about her single life and her plans to start looking for a boyfriend.
'Single is nice,' she admitted. 'I haven't practiced it yet, but I'm going to soon because I've been wrapped up in this show.'
She added: 'I'm looking forward to getting out there and dating.'
However, Braxton also admitted that she is nervous to get back out on the dating scene again.
'I mean, dating can be scary too. It can be a little bit,' she said before revealing the type of person she is looking to date next.
Of her ideal partner, she said they would be 'a nice guy, someone who will watch Lifetime with me all day long, at least once in the week.'
