27 Comfy Pairs Of Sandals Reviewers Over 50 Adore
Promising review: "I purchased these sandals for my 80-year-old mother. I was concerned about her footwear and safety. They fit perfectly, give her good support for short-distance walking, and they look fashionable." —sherie hallGet them from Amazon for $39.99+ (available in sizes 6–11 and 12 colors).
Or a Cushionaire cork footbed sandal for a less strappy (but equally comfy and affordable!) look.
Promising review: "I turned 50 last year and the doctor recommended that I wear more shoes with arch support. I love these type of sandals but I was originally looking for another brand (starts with a "B," that is well known). However, who can afford those prices? After research, I came across this brand and ordered them last summer. So far, I am impressed. I wear them almost daily for around the house (inside). The bottom of the sandal is holding up. No wear or tear." —T.HGet them from Amazon for $26.94+ (available in sizes 5–13, including wide sizes, and in 26 colors).
A cushy pair of slides that will basically live by your door at all times because they're the PERFECT slip-on-and-go situation. Plus, they come in plenty of colors, so you can find the perfect look to complement your chosen summer vibes.
Promising review: "This review is long overdue. I work in the pet retail industry. I do receiving and stocking of very heavy pet food, cat litter, etc. for eight hours a day. I work on concrete floors. I'm 60-years-old. I've been an athlete my whole life, and I've had ankle injuries to both feet. I also have severe nerve entrapment syndrome in my left heel, as well as osteoarthritis. I have been wearing traditional flip-flops with a little bit of padding my whole life. When I got to the point that I literally couldn't walk from my bed to the bathroom, I knew I had to do something. My husband had purchased these, and told me about them. I will say, they are not attractive. By that I mean, I would never wear them outside of the house. That said, these are literally THE MOST COMFORTABLE THINGS I've ever put on my feet. When I come home from work, I put them on immediately. When I wake up in the morning, they're the first thing I put on. They have made a huge difference in my pain level and in my life. I cannot recommend these enough if you have foot pain." —yoyogirlGet them from Amazon for $23.99+ (available in sizes 4–16 and in 15 colors).
Some Skecher's wedge sandals if you want to be the height of fashion and the height of comfy. (Get it? ~Height?~)
Promising review: "These are the most comfortable sandals I have ever worn in my entire life. I'm 58-years-old and I have to say these are almost more comfortable and supportive than my sneakers. I've purchased white black and tan. You can dress up with them or you can dress casual with them." —Amazon CustomerGet them from Amazon for $33.60+ (available in sizes 5–13, wide sizes, and seven colors).
A pair of fully adjustable Teva Hurricane sandals because there's no reason to put up with awkward toe-rubbing and too-tight strap pain when Tevas exist. And they have a cute retro look that is sure to have you reaching for them all summer long.
Promising review: "The minute I put on these Teva sandals, I knew I had a keeper ! My last pair lasted over 30 years and are still running, but they are not as cute. Of all the colors available I chose the light blue ones with circle chains in the pattern and they are very elegant . Ever strap is adjustable, if I ever need to loosen them. Also, my 89 year-old feet love the soft and flexible foot pad. If you purchase Tevas, you will be glad you did for many years. Go for it!" —Jean R. WalkerGet them from Amazon for $49.86+ (available in sizes 5–14 and 51 styles/colors)
A pair of classic Clark slide-on sandals to show off that fresh pedicure in style and comfort.
Promising review: "I bought two pairs, one pewter and one natural tan. I love them both. This is the second summer season to wear them and I highly recommend Clark's for quality and they are so comfortable. I can wear all day, and I have problem feet. I love the velcro straps that I can extend to compensate for the bunions on my 74-year-old feet." —LTGet them from Amazon for $45.90+ (available in sizes 5–12, including narrow and wide widths, and seven colors).
A pair of thong sandals so the "beach daze" can be a state of mind (and feet!) rather than just a destination. If you want a touch of White Lotus in your wardrobe, these are practically screaming, "I belong at a high-end resort... minus the murder mystery."
Promising review: "Beautiful sandals. I live in South Florida, Palm Beach County. We all wear sandals down here! These shoes are so lovely. I appreciate these sandals have elastic as I'm 70-years-old and for some reason I cannot wear flip-flops." —Amazon CustomerGet them from Amazon for $21.99+ (available in sizes 5–11 and 11 colors).
A pair of Merrells for any puddle-jumping, damp gardening, and wet sidewalk stomping you've got ahead of you this year. These are designed to dry quickly and handle all kinds of terrain, so no fears about these getting ruined the first, second, or 100th time you put them on your feet!
Promising review: "I have purchased these sandals over the years. They last a long time. The tops of the sandal are a tad large but I have a AAA foot. I get them wet a lot and they dry out nicely. Great arch support. I am 60 and have a little trouble with back and knees...but my daughter dragged me to Washington, DC...walked 13 miles. Then to Epcot (12 miles), the next day at Disney World (11 1/2 miles) — my feet never hurt. She is 27 and I hung in there all day and night walking!! Could have walked a third day!! I told her it is because of the Merrells." —Rosemary CookeGet them from Amazon for $59+ (available in sizes 6–11 and 17 colors).
And some Keen closed-toe sporty sandals if you want those same puddle-jumping abilities, but with a lil' extra toe protection.
Promising review: "Love this sandal. I am an avid birder in Florida. I do a lot of shore-birding and was in desperate need of a sandal that I can get into the water with. Being close to 60-years-old I have various issues with plantar fasciitis, mild arthritis, etc. These sandals fit the bill for me. I purchased these in July and have used them four times for 3+ mile beach walks. This is the first time in 10 years that I have been able to do this without any excessive pain, or needing a few days recovery time from the walk in the water flats." —JNC - 50+femaleGet them from Amazon for $64.95+ (available in sizes 4.5–12 and 29 colors/patterns).
A pair of platform Crocs sandals everyone is going to ask about, because not only are they heckin' stylish, but they're also SUPREMELY comfy. Yes, you're going to have to say, "They are really Crocs," 700 times. Yes, it's still worth it.
Promising review: "These Crocs sandals are EXTREMELY well-structured for safety and comfort. The footbed is AMAZING, which allows long hours on my feet. They go with the full range of clothes — a great help when traveling! At 77-years-old with foot and knee issues, I am VERY FUSSY about shoe comfort and safety, but I'm also style conscious and want shoes that are fun and stylish. These check ALL THE BOXES. These are my FIRST PAIR of Crocs and I've become a big Crocs fan." —Quality-Conscious in AustinGet them from Amazon for $41.24+ (available in sizes 4–11 and 18 colors).
A pair of arch-support flip-flops because flip-flops shouldn't be synonymous with plantar fasciitis pain. These are designed to stay on your feet and not cause strain or tripping, so basically, you should go ahead and get like five different colors to keep your feet ultra happy for the rest of the warm weather days.
Promising review: "If I didn't live in New England, I would wear flip flops year round. I hate shoes. I used to wear regular flip flops but these are a game changer for my 50yr old feet. You feel the difference the moment you put them on. As a member of the sasquash foot club, they are wide foot friendly. All you have to do when you get them is pull the bands out a bit and they will work with you. Can't wait to get new colors for this years flip flop season." —Stacie Kieron Get them from Amazon for $40 (available in sizes 5–16 and 14 colors).
A pair of sports sandals reviewers say you can wear from dawn until dusk and still want to go back and wear the very next day. That's the kind of comfort we DESERVE in 2025.
Promising reviews: "Easy on old feet like mine. Almost 90-years-old." —robert33"This is my second pair of Ecco shoes and the only brand I will purchase from now on. As a senior citizen I find the styles up to date and not old lady shoes. They are super comfortable and I can wear them all day and still feel great in the evening. I would recommend them highly." —Maureen KapnicGet them from Amazon for $85+ (available in sizes 4–12.5 and 36 colors).
A pair of slip-resistant flip-flops that promise to help you glide effortlessly across wet surfaces without turning the whole world into a not-fun slip-n-slide situation.
Promising review: "These are the best flip-flops I have ever owned! I have worn flip-flops for over 55 years and have given them up as I got older due to the lack of support and comfort. I decided to try one more brand of flip-flops that claim to have great arch support and these actually do — these are fantastic, comfortable, cute and do not leave my feet feeling burning tired and sore after wearing for any extended time period. Love the colors and plan to purchase a second pair!" —Norma AnsellGet them from Amazon for $41.99+ (available in sizes 6–11 and 27 colors).
A pair of buckle slides as spunky as they are functional. A deep heel cup, arch support, and adjustable straps mean these will feel custom-made to your foot.
Promising review: "I have problems finding shoes that fit, these shoes are great. Not too loose or too tight, the fit adjustment is perfect for my foot. They're nice looking and I'll buy more in different colors. I'm 76-years-old, hope this helps others." —Janice KGet them from Amazon for $29.99+ (available in sizes 5–11 and 21 colors).
Or a pair of adjustable slides for an equally supportive but more ~subtle~ silhouette.
Promising review: "I have had flat feet my whole life. Never, even as a child, I could not walk barefoot. Orthotics helped when I was younger, but at 67, I am limited to what shoes I can wear. Overpronation is a big problem even after foot surgery on one of them. These sandals make a great house slipper. I was afraid the foot bed would feel like Crocs, just plain hard. These have ridges, not points. My foot feels cradled and does not pronate as badly. As other people suggested, I went a half size larger. Right choice. These are not really a 'rugged' outdoor type sandal. They come in a bag, not a box, so I was a little suspect. But I also like that the adjustable Velcro closure on the top is not a wide one, that I know gets caught as it tends to curl up and ends up opening while you're wearing them. Other than maybe, the fabric across the top being a little more substantial in thickness, I'm pleased and will be buying another pair for light outdoor wear." —DonnaGet them from Amazon for $25.99+ (available in sizes 5–12 and 17 colors).
A pair of bejeweled sandals because when you walk in the room, you can still make the whole place ✨shimmer. ✨
Promising review: "Perfect… bling and comfortable, what else would a 75-year-young diva want? Ladies, fit is great." —VICTORIA RAFFERTYGet them from Amazon for $31.99+ (available in sizes 6–10 and seven colors).
A pair of low wedges with a crossover strap if you want some unique tan lines when you're catching rays.
Promising review: "Love these, very comfortable. I wish they had different color options with sole and fabric. I am 52-years-old and cannot go any higher heel than this. Perfect look and comfort!" —KathleenGet them from Amazon for $45+ (available in sizes 5–11, including wide sizes, and three colors).
A pair of Crocs slides to get an excellent shoe and an excellent canvas for all of your Croc shoe charms.
Promising review: "My 96-year-old mother prefers slides but her podiatrist told her she needs more padding in the sole. She wears a size 7.5 but some reviews mentioned that they run large so we ordered both a 7 and 6. The 6 fit PERFECTLY. Literally as if they were molded for her foot." —Libby DelanoGet them from Amazon for $19.99+ (available in sizes 4–11 and 15 colors).
A rhinestone-embellished open-toe slingback sandal that has just a ~glimmer~ of stylistic oomph so it's both the perfect everyday shoe and great for those in-between — but frequent — casual-but-elevated kinda meetups that seem to pop up every summer. (Looking at you, new fancy brunch place!)
Promising review: "These shoes are so comfortable and adorable! I'm 60-years-old and like comfort, but also like some style. These shoes fit the bill! I'll be going out dancing in them on Friday night!" —ApriljoyGet them from Amazon for $33.11+ (available in sizes 5–12 and 16 colors).
A pair of faux-wood Dr. Scholl's slides if you remember the OG Dr. Scholl's version and want the new, improved updated silhouette in your closet.
Promising review: "Oh how I long for them for all my adult years, I'm now 55....with that being said, I ordered the white ones with the plastic/rubbery bottom! Just got them today, put them on and I love them! They are amazing and comfortable to walk in!! I will be getting more colors! Don't knock these, give them a try.....you might be extremely happy with them as I am!!! The fit is amazing, the comfort is beyond and they are extremely lightweight!" —DonnaGet them from Amazon for $40.30+ (available in sizes 6–11 and three colors).
A pair of Keen back strap sandals for making sure your sandals stay on their feet as they should in the most colorful, comfiest way possible.
Promising review: "I am a 60-year-old woman with arthritis in my feet and bunions on both sides of my feet! I can dance the night away in these sandals without pain at the time or the next day! This is my second pair of this style. I have had the first pair a couple of years now. I still love them. I was just needing another color!" —Connie FunkeGet them from Amazon for $71.73+ (available in sizes 5–11, including wide and 17 colors).

A pair of cute colorful wedge sandals so perfectly meant for warm weather, you'll wonder how you ever survived a spring and summer without these.
Promising review: "These shoes are so comfy and cute that I'm reluctant to share this review. I just bought my second pair — even though my first pair are still in good shape. But they are THAT good — I always want this shoe in my closet. I have walked miles in this shoe all over the world, on cobblestones, uphill, down dale with no blisters, no sore feet and that's saying something for an old gal in her mid-60's. Try them out — just don't buy the last pair. I call dibs!" —CBSGet them from Amazon for $34.95+ (available in sizes 5–11, including wide sizes, and five colors).
A pair of Naturalizer heeled sandals with a cushy footbed designed to be lightweight and comfy while still making you feel elegant and ~above~ outfit panics.
Promising review: "I am 58 and have a lot of foot pain so I tried many different styles for a wedding. I found these to be very comfortable and so cute - not 'granny looking'. These offer great support for planter fasciitis (as well as heeled sandals can). I read reviews and research A LOT before buying something. I wanted to leave this review to help others who do the same. These were a winner." —TinaGet them from Amazon for $53.50+ (available in sizes 5–13, including wide sizes, and 35 colors).
A sweat-resistent high-arch flip-flop with a stylish central strap so you can live life to the fullest without worrying about sweat turning your stride into an oops.
Promising review: "I'm a lifelong flip flow wearer - they're standard uniform for coastal living. At 53-years-old, I'm learning to take care of my feet in order to function (who knew?). I have high arches, and now I have these comfy shoes to get me through the day. They are holding up well, and the strap across the top is soft and comfortable." —Patricia OdhamGet them from Amazon for $38.99+ (available in sizes 6–11 and 13 colors)
And finally, a Cliffs by White Mountain flower wedge sandal if you're so jealous of the summer flowers outside, you just need some on your shoes, too.

If you have ever been to DC then you know how much walking you do. I'm 72 years old and one day we walked 4.5 miles. Yes, I got tired but my feet didn't hurt. I hate to see wintertime come and I won't be able to wear my Flip Flops." —Deb in DixieGet them from Amazon for $29.71+ (available in sizes 6–11, including wide sizes, and five colors).

I've spent the whole summer wearing the 'ugliest hiking sandals in the world' and I regret absolutely nothing — here's why
I hate shopping for summer shoes. Summertime sandals are often uncomfortable (Birkenstocks, I'm looking at you), heavy (Doc Marten sandals, anyone?), or way too expensive (Salomon hiking shoes, even though I love them). I want cool and comfortable summer shoes. Finding the perfect summer sandals can be a hassle for several reasons. The worst one? Women's summer footwear is often very toe-y. There are days when I'm just not in the mood for that. I've been craving a closed-toe summer shoe... and I've finally found the perfect pair. So what are the best walking sandals for women? Well, there's no one right answer, but for me, it's got to be the Keen Hyperport H2 sandals. I tested these shoes back in April, and they still have me floored. Weirdly, there's not one specific price for the Keen Hyperport H2 sandals on Amazon. Each colorway and size is a different price, but the MSRP is $119. The exact style I have is currently $106, down $13, but it differs in larger or smaller sizes. As much as I love wearing sandals in summer, there's always one thing that holds me back: my toes. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't hate my feet. I hate what other people think about feet. I'd rather not put my toes out there for the world, you know. So when it's super hot and I want to wear sandals, I'm usually a vibrating ball of anxiety — especially wearing them to the office. What do you mean, everyone's going to see my toes? Thankfully, that's not an issue with the Keen Hyperport H2s. Thanks to the toe cover, the Hyperport H2s blocks as much toe as ballet flats or moccasins. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. As you can see from the photo above, no toes are visible. Phew. So while the Hyperport H2s are a little more modest than other hiking sandals (I love my Tevas, but sometimes I just don't want my toes to be out), they're still just as breathable. Thanks to the ribcage-like design, my feet were able to breathe during hot weather while staying somewhat hidden. When it's extremely hot outside, I can't wear my Skechers or Converse sneakers. Well, technically I can, but I'd rather not. That's where the Keen sandals come in clutch — they keep my feet cool, comfy, and covered up, even during a heatwave. I'm wearing the Hyperport H2 sandals as I write this, and it's currently 28°C (82°F), which is very hot for the U.K., and my feet couldn't be happier. Given that Keen's entire mission is to create reliable, sturdy, and long-lasting shoes, I think it's fitting that the Hyperport H2s have been my go-to shoe all summer. There's no need to buy multiple pairs of varying styles, because the Hyperport H2s do it all. But the Hyperport H2s are sandals, so surely they're only for super hot days? That's where you'd be wrong. Seeing as they're waterproof — and designed to be river shoes — they're ideal for warm but rainy days. I wore them yesterday when it was about 80°F and rainy, and they were the perfect shoes. Not only did they keep my feet cool, but they also dried relatively quickly after I got inside. No more stressing over my sneakers that are still wet the next day. Although the Keen sandals don't have Gore-Tex, trust me when I say they may as well have. A splash of water slides right off these sandals, and they dry within a few hours, should they get soaked through. When I was testing the sandals for my review, I actually dunked them in the bathtub and timed how long it took them to dry completely. In two hours, the Hyperport H2s were 100% dry. This is no mean feat — I've had hiking boots that I've had to spend hours drying with a hair dryer before. And the best part? The Hyperport H2s are grippy. Like... so grippy. I have never slipped while wearing these shoes, even during torrential rain on slippery pavements, and I'm one of the clumsiest people in the world. While Keen has self-described the Hyperport H2 as "the ugliest sandal in the world", I think that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Yes, the Hyperport H2 has a polarizing design. But doesn't that make them all the more charming? I love bickering with my sisters about the ugliness of these shoes, or jokingly defending them against my colleagues (who think they should be burned). What's the point of having boring shoes? I'd rather have something that is as comfortable as wearing literal clouds (true, the Hyperport H2s have an injected foam sole, which makes them as bouncy as a marshmallow) than something that feels like thousands of tiny needles piercing my skin with each step. So who cares if these sandals are ugly? I don't. I will actually defend these shoes until I'm blue in the face. I think they're cool in an uncool sort of way. I've been wearing the Keen Hyperport H2 sandals almost every day since April, and I don't see our love affair ending anytime soon. I tried this TikTok weighted vest hack — and it's a game changer when it comes to building functional fitness
As a fitness editor, it's not often that I turn to TikTok for workout inspiration. I've seen plenty of fitness fads come and go, and I truly believe that the secret to long-term health and well-being is consistency. That said, one thing I haven't missed is the current weighted vest trend that's sweeping social media. Yet people aren't just wearing weighted vests to increase their calorie burn on daily walks (although read more about this in our rucking feature here), but while doing household chores to turn everyday activities into a workout. The TikTok trend involves wearing a weighted vest while doing everyday chores to increase functional fitness. When we talk about functional fitness, we're referring to exercises designed to mimic everyday activities, like lifting something down from a shelf or carrying a bag of shopping. By working on your functional fitness, you're less likely to experience falls and injuries, and you'll also likely improve your athletic performance as you strengthen the muscles in your body. To sneak in an extra workout, I grabbed a weighted vest and wore it during my everyday chores for a week — read on to find out what happened. As a reminder, if you're new to exercise or you're returning to exercise following an injury, it's always a good idea to check in with a personal trainer or doctor before taking on a new exercise routine. Physios don't recommend running or jumping while wearing a weighted vest if you're a complete beginner. It's important to build up to this slowly to ensure you're not putting your joints under too much stress. Weighted vests are a relatively affordable piece of workout equipment if you're exercising at home. The beauty of a weighted vest if you can strap it on during walks and strength training sessions to increase the resistance on your body. This makes your muscles work harder, helping you to sculpt strong muscles and increase your calorie burn. I purchased this 12 lb weighted vest from Amazon, but there are plenty of different options on the market, with different weights available. When picking a weighted vest for your workouts, the general guidance is to start with a vest that is 5-10% of your current body weight. This is heavy enough to challenge your body, without putting too much strain on your joints and spine. A vest with adjustable weights is a great purchase, as it allows you to increase the load as you get stronger. Of course, if you don't have a weighted vest, you could always grab one of the best adjustable dumbbells and chuck it in a backpack. Just use a backpack that has a chest strap if possible. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Here's what I noticed wearing my weighted vest for chores for the week: Obviously, one of the main benefits of wearing a weighted vest is that, over time, you'll grow stronger muscles and improve your cardiovascular fitness. I live in an old Victorian cottage, and I found that when cleaning, I walk up and down the old, steep stairs multiple times. The addition of the weighted vest sent my heart rate soaring on each climb, and I realized that even without leaving the house, strapping on my weighted vest and walking up and down the stairs was a killer workout. The added weight forces your lungs to work harder, so over time, you can improve your cardiovascular efficiency and increase your VO2 max. This is really important to me as a marathon runner. Ok, so this is kind of cheating, as I did have to leave the house, but any dog owner will know that the twice-daily walks are a key chore you can't skip. I strapped my weighted vest on for my dog walks for a week and found, once again, my heart rate soared and I worked a lot harder than I usually would. That said, this wasn't too much of a challenge for me, as I've been effectively wearing a weighted vest for the past 18 months, as I often carry my son in a sling on dog walks. He's acted as the perfect adjustable dumbbell, as his weight has slowly increased month by month, giving my body a chance to adapt to the load. One thing I noticed immediately is how much I had to think about my core when picking up various baby toys and hoovering. The weighted vest challenges your body's center of gravity, so it's essential to keep your abdominal muscles engaged to stabilize your torso as you move. This meant my abs were getting a workout too, but again, start with a lighter weight to avoid putting any stress on your spine. My verdict after a week? I'm hooked. This was the perfect way to add little bursts of exercise to my daily routine — a phenomenon also known as exercise snacking. It made me realize how much of a workout cleaning already is, as I bent down and lifted objects above my head, unpacking shopping, or carried my hoover from room to room. If you're looking for an easy way to increase your daily calorie burn, TikTok has found it. Follow Tom's Guide on Google News to get our up-to-date news, how-tos, and reviews in your feeds.
