At least 13 dead, several missing in San Antonio after rapid flooding
At least 13 people have been found dead and several more remain missing after heavy rains this week caused flooding on highways throughout San Antonio, Texas, authorities said Saturday. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office and the San Antonio Fire Department confirmed to CBS News on Saturday that the death toll had risen to 13. Officials said on Saturday that seven of the 13 confirmed dead have been identified and that their next of kin have been notified. Their ages range from 28 to 61. Bexar County includes the San Antonio metropolitan area. Earlier Friday, the fire department said its crews were focusing their search on Salado Creek and Leon Creek, and that it had requested assistance from Texas A&M Task Force 1, a federal search and rescue team that operates under the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Heavy rains overnight Wednesday led to water rescue calls just after 5 a.m. local time on Thursday in northeastern San Antonio, near the city's Perrin Beitel neighborhood. The identities of the victims have yet to be released, but one of the victims was identified as a 77-year-old woman, according to CBS affiliate KENS-TV. The fire department believes that those rescued or located were initially in their cars, sitting in traffic, but by the time emergency crews arrived, they had ended up in trees due to water flooding their vehicles. "This rescue/recovery effort will be an ongoing, and extremely thorough process for days to come," the fire department said in an email Friday. "It's hard because I was on the phone when this happened, and then not to have a lot of communication, to see my car, it's devastating to me," Richards told KENS 5. "No one can say to me, 'Hey, this is what's going on.'"

Storms Are Expected in Washington, D.C., on Saturday
There is a significant chance of rain across the Washington, D.C., area on Saturday, the National Weather Service said, and thunderstorms late in the afternoon or evening could coincide with events near the National Mall to mark the U.S. Army's 250th birthday. Thunderstorms can bring a variety of threats, including hail, lightning and damaging winds. Jeremy Geiger, a meteorologist at the Weather Service office that covers Baltimore and Washington, said the agency predicted up to an 80 percent chance of rain during the afternoon and evening. 'I think it's going to rain based on everything I'm seeing, but there is a small chance that it just misses parts of the District,' Mr. Geiger said on Saturday morning. Conditions are expected to be cloudy and humid for much of the day, with a high temperature of about 83 degrees Fahrenheit. Skies were cloudy on Saturday morning but conditions were dry. Scattered thunderstorms will come from northern Maryland as the day progresses, and it's difficult to predict their exact trajectory and where the heaviest impact will be, Mr. Geiger said. 'It could be anywhere within a 50-mile area from just south of D.C. up to Baltimore,' he said. Rainfall amounts are mostly likely to range from a half inch to 1.5 inches, but Mr. Geiger said there's a 'reasonable worst-case scenario' of 2 to 4 inches, possibly even up to 6 inches, if the capital falls within the bull's-eye of the heaviest thunderstorms. Chicago weather: Cloudy start to Saturday, but clearing, warm conditions ahead
CHICAGO - Saturday morning started out with gray cloud cover, but it's expected to get better with sunshine coming in the afternoon. Fox 32 Meteorologist Mark Strehl has the forecast. What to Expect The visibility was not horrible early Saturday, according to Strehl, in most areas, but there was a low cloud ceiling. That is expected to lift toward midday and especially into the afternoon when more sunshine is coming. With that increasing sunshine, the temperatures should rise with forecasted highs into the upper 70s, and even 80 across the Chicago area. As always, it will be cooler along the lake. There were some showers in the neighborhood overnight, but the light lingering rain was south of the Chicago area to start Saturday. What's next For your Father's Day Sunday, there is lots of sunshine expected. Temperatures will rise to around 80 degrees with fair skies and temps dropping into the 60s on Sunday night.
