'Not to you, to your wife': Zelenskyy offers Trump Olena Zelenska's letter to Melania; praises First Lady's message to Putin
Instead of photos of Ukrainian children suffering the war that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy brought to the White House in February, this time Zelenskyy brought a letter from Ukraine's first lady Olena Zelenska addressed to First Lady Melania Trump and offered it to Donald Trump at the beginning of their joint sit-down Monday.
This was taking a leaf out of the recent example set by Trump himself who hand-delivered Melania's letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Zelenskyy praised the gesture and then took out the letter from his wife and specified that the letter was not meant for Trump. "Thank you very much for your efforts, personal efforts to stop the killings and stop this war," Zelenskyy said, adding that Melania's letter mentioned Ukraine's children.
'My wife, the first lady of Ukraine, she gave the letter. It's not to you but to your wife,' he said
"I want," Trump said in his instant reaction.
What Melania wrote in her letter to Trump
"In today's world, some children are forced to carry a quiet laughter, untouched by the darkness around them," Melania wrote. "Mr Putin, you can singlehandedly restore their melodic laughter," it added. "In protecting the innocence of these children, you will do more than serve Russia alone -- you serve humanity itself."

"Such a bold idea transcends all human division, and you, Mr Putin, are fit to implement this vision with a stroke of the pen today," the letter read. "It is time."
During Monday's press conference, Trump spoke about Melania;s letter to Putin, urging him to protect children amid the push to end his war in Ukraine, and said it was 'very well received' by the Russian leader. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, alongside Zelenskyy that Melania 'loves children and she hates to see something like this happening.' 'She would love to see this end,' Trump said. 'She says it very openly, very proudly, and with great sorrow.

Trump vows executive order to ban mail-in ballots, voting machines before 2026
US President Donald Trump pledged on Monday to issue an executive order to end the use of mail-in ballots and voting machines ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, a move likely to disproportionately favour his Republican elections are administered at the state level, however, and it is unclear if the president has the constitutional power to enact the measure. Legal challenges by some states are Democratic voters traditionally more likely to use mail-in ballots than Republicans, Trump's pledge is his latest effort to reshape the midterm election battlefield to his party's advantage. He has also urged Republicans in states including Texas and Indiana to redraw congressional districts to increase the likelihood of a Republican candidate being elected. The November 3, 2026, elections will be the first nationwide referendum on Trump's domestic and foreign policies since he returned to power in January. Democrats will be seeking to break Republicans' grip on both the House of Representatives and the Senate to block Trump's domestic agenda."I am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS, and also, while we're at it, Highly 'Inaccurate,' Very Expensive, and Seriously Controversial VOTING MACHINES," Trump wrote in a social media at the White House, Trump said his Republican Party must get behind the new effort if they want to retain power, and noted the executive order was in the process of being who has promoted the false narrative that he, not Democrat Joe Biden, won the 2020 election, has long cast doubt on the security of mail-in ballots, although evidence of voter fraud is vanishingly has for years also called for the end of electronic voting machines, pushing instead for the use of paper ballots and hand-counts, a process that election officials say is time-consuming, costly and far less accurate than machine counting."Remember, the States are merely an 'agent' for the Federal Government in counting and tabulating the votes. They must do what the Federal Government, as represented by the President of the United States, tells them," Trump wrote in his social media legal experts said states were responsible for administering federal elections under the US Constitution and that only Congress can regulate how they do so."The President has no power constitutionally to dictate to states the manner in which they conduct national elections," said New York University Law School professor Richard Pildes, who specializes in legal issues related to BALLOTSadvertisementTrump's comments follow his meeting with his Russian counterpart on Friday, after which Trump said Vladimir Putin agreed with him on ending mail-in Republican-led states such as Florida have embraced mail-in voting as a safe, convenient way to expand voter participation. Trump himself voted by mail in some previous elections and urged his supporters to do so for the 2024 presidential ballots hit record highs in the US in 2020 as states expanded options for voters amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but the numbers dropped in 2024, according to the US Election Assistance than two-thirds of voters in the 2024 general election cast their ballots in person, while about three in 10 ballots were cast through the mail, according to the US state has some form of absentee or mail-in ballot option, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.- EndsTune InMust Watch

NSF joins Neso protest against illegal immigrants
1 2 Dimapur: The Naga Students Federation (NSF) joined the North East Students' Organisation (Neso)-called sit-in protest across the state capitals in the region at Naga Solidarity Park in Kohima on Monday, seeking immediate detection and deportation of illegal immigrants from the region, reports Bhadra Gogoi. Ejanthung Ngullie, state coordinator, NESO, who chaired the programme, reminded that the Neso has been demanding Inner Line Permit (ILP) regime in the entire northeast region. He said the NSF took part in the sit-in to demand eviction of all illegal immigrants from the region. Stating that the ILP issue is very dear and close to the NSF, Ngullie said it constituted a strong committee called the Inner Line Regulation Commission (ILRC) for total implementation of ILP in Nagaland. "We are here to demand implementation of ILP through proper policy and measures by respective state governments in the seven northeast states to preserve our culture, heritage and democratic stability," he said. Ngullies said it is unfortunate that the ILP regime is in force only in four northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur. He demanded that the central govt take serious note of "our concern" on the illegal influx of illegal immigrants into the northeast, which is affecting the demographic pattern of the region. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Villas In Dubai | Search Ads Get Quote Undo In his address, NSF president Medovi Rhi questioned whether "we are serious about implementation of ILP". "We have to be more serious about the issue," Rhi said. He said not only the student community but also the apex Naga tribal bodies should join hands in checking illegal immigrants into Nagaland. He also asserted that the NSF is not against any Indian citizen but only against illegal immigrants. Taking the opportunity, Rhi appealed to the Nagaland government not to issue any new ILP to those who have been or are being evicted in the ongoing eviction drive against illegal immigrants in Assam.
