Fallon Sherrock to take a break from darts in 2026
Fallon Sherrock plans to take "a year out" in 2026 as she tries to rediscover her best form.
The 30-year-old is the leading woman in the game, having made history in 2019 by winning two matches at the World Championship.
She has suffered from health problems for many years and has admitted her game is currently being affected.
Sherrock, who does not have Tour card and competes in the Women's Series, believes the "sky is the limit" after a rest.
"I feel like it will be my B-game [at the moment] and I don't know if I am able to get my A-game out," Sherrock told YouTube channel Online Darts.
"If I'm going to have a year out next year I want to make a bang this year. I want to try to get to everything even if I'm not playing 100%.
"I need to sort myself out, get myself well and then the sky is the limit.
"All I want to do is practise at home for a couple of hours a day and I can't do that at the moment, so it is difficult.
"I've had to pull out of some exhibitions recently because I haven't had the stamina.
"I have had to narrow down what I am playing in at the moment, and that hurts because I love darts.
"Fingers crossed that in a couple of years' time I'll be alright and back to winning well."
Meanwhile, the Republic of Ireland team of William O'Connor and Keane Barry have been drawn alongside Gibraltar and China in next week's World Cup of Darts.
Reigning champions England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have all beed seeded through to the second round at the 40-nation tournament in Frankfurt.

After being crushed 17-7 by the Chinese superstar, the Rocket announced he intended to spend more time in the Middle East and said he planned to pick and choose which tournaments he enters. He has now engaged in another interest away from the table that he'll be able to fulfil wherever he goes by launching his own YouTube channel. With a link to a clip of his momentous 1000th professional century in the Players Championship final in 2019, O'Sullivan wrote on X: 'Finally gone and got a YouTube channel… I will be uploading all sorts here from some of my favourite shots and matches to me cooking to me meeting and chatting to some interesting people. Hope you guys enjoy it!!' However, upon visiting the channel, the only clip available was one of him hitting a 147 in practice while in Saudi Arabia before the World Championship. The 1000th century break clip appeared to have been removed. Still, the announcement went down well with many of his 564,000 X followers. One replied: 'Subbed already. Can't wait for more content. Good luck!' Another added: 'Good luck Ron, keep grafting & playing for as long as you can.' A third quipped: 'Ronnie O'Sullivan cooking must be Fast Food! Speaking after his World Championship exit, O'Sullivan explained his immediate plans, which involved getting away from the UK. 'I think I'm going to be moving out of the UK this year. A new life somewhere else," said the Essex potter, who has a snooker academy in his name in Saudi Arabia. 'I'll still try and play snooker but I don't know what the future looks like for me really. I'm moving away soon so I'll just see how it goes. There's a lot of more important things in life to worry about than a game of snooker. 'For me, it's a big part of my life, but I've got to try and figure out what my future looks like, whether it's playing or not. I'll be moving away to the Middle East but we'll see how it goes. Rory McIlroy credits Canadian Open timing for US Open consistency
The Northern Irishman, who won the Canadian tournament in 2019 and 2022, has been a consistent contender at the US Open in recent years, recording six consecutive top-10 finishes. 'I love that it's the week leading into the US Open,' McIlroy told a press conference on Wednesday. 'I've had six top 10s in a row (at the US Open), so there's something to that.' McIlroy's grouping for the first two rounds includes 2023 European Ryder Cup teammate Ludvig Aberg and PGA Tour University graduate Luke Clanton. He also praised the university programme for helping younger players make the professional leap. 'I think this PGA Tour U programme is so good. If it was up to me, I'd give the college kids five or 10 spots on Tour instead of just one,' said McIlroy. 'I think to bring that new blood through each and every year I think is so important for the Tour, and to see Luke and some of his other peers take advantage of that opportunity and get their cards and come out here and play well, it's awesome to see.' Earlier this week, the Masters champion admitted he was 'p***ed off' that news of his driver failing technical standards made headlines before last month's US PGA Championship. Two days before the tournament was due to start the world number two had the club pulled from his bag after official testing showed it had crossed the threshold, the so-called 'trampoline effect' when the face of the club becomes more springy. Failures are supposed to remain confidential, as no blame is attached to the player in question but the news broke on Friday evening. As a result McIlroy, uncharacteristically, declined to speak to the media over all four days and left Quail Hollow without uttering a word in public after finishing joint-47th. 'I was a little p***ed off because I knew that Scottie's driver had failed but my name was the one that was leaked. It was supposed to stay confidential,' said McIlroy. 'I didn't want to get up there and say something that I regretted, either, because I'm trying to protect Scottie – I don't want to mention his name – I'm trying to protect TaylorMade. I'm trying to protect the USGA, PGA of America, myself. 'With Scottie's stuff, that's not my information to share. That process is supposed to be kept confidential and it wasn't for whatever reason. That's why I was pretty annoyed at that.'
