Dale Earnhardt Jr. to crew chief for Connor Zilisch in NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Pocono

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is adding another title to his NASCAR resumé.
Earnhardt Jr. will serve as the crew chief for Connor Zilisch in the Xfinity Series race at Pocono on Saturday. Zilisch's crew chief Mardy Lindley is serving a one-race suspension for loose lug nuts on Zilisch's car at the end of the race in Nashville earlier this month.
Junior is the co-owner of Zilisch's JR Motorsports car and his team fields four cars in NASCAR's second-tier series. Zilisch's teammate Justin Allgaier won the 2024 Xfinity Series title for the first NASCAR championship of his career.

Zilisch, 18, already has one win over 14 races this season in the Xfinity Series. The road course ace won the third race of the season when he led 26 laps at Circuit of the Americas for the second victory of his career. He missed the 12th race of the season because of a back injury sustained in a hard crash late in the race at Talladega. He returned at Charlotte and has finished second, second and fifth in the last three races.
Pocono could be a race filled with strategy based on how the cautions fall on Saturday. The 2.5-mile track allows drivers near the front of the field to pit under green without losing a lap. If there are long green-flag runs during the first two stages, you'll likely see many drivers in the top 10 forego stage points to pit before the end of the stages and cycle back towards the front of the field during the stage break.
After he crew chiefs Zilisch on Saturday, Junior will be in the booth for Amazon Prime again on Sunday. The NASCAR Hall of Famer is the lead analyst for Amazon and TNT's NASCAR coverage this season. Amazon has two more Cup Series races left in 2025 before TNT takes over for five races ahead of NBC's portion of the schedule.

Baltimore Ravens sign Jaire Alexander following the cornerback's release by the Packers

Jaire Alexander has signed with the Baltimore Ravens less than two weeks after the two-time Pro Bowl cornerback was released by the Green Bay Packers. The Ravens posted a video on Wednesday of star quarterback Lamar Jackson enthusiastically greeting Alexander after he signed with the two-time defending AFC North champions. Jackson and Alexander were teammates at Louisville. ESPN reported that the 28-year-old Alexander was getting a one-year deal with a base value of $4 million and another $2 million in incentives. Emerging as a top cornerback The Packers released Alexander on June 9, ending a seven-year run in which he emerged as one of the NFL's top cornerbacks before injuries limited his availability. Alexander's future with the Packers was the subject of much speculation throughout the offseason because of his hefty contract and recent injury history. He is a two-time NFL Pro Bowl performer. Alexander, who has 12 interceptions, had two years remaining on the four-year, $84 million contract extension he signed in May 2022. His best season was in 2022 when he picked off five passes. Former first-round draft pick A first-round draft pick by Green Bay in 2018, Alexander missed two games early last season with injuries to his quadriceps and groin. He then missed a Nov. 3 loss to Detroit with a knee injury, returned to play 10 snaps in the Packers' next game against Chicago and then was out for the rest of the season. The games he missed were because of injury with one exception. Alexander was suspended for a late-season game in 2023 because of conduct detrimental to the team after he appointed himself captain and participated in the coin toss for a Christmas Eve win at Carolina, his hometown.

NFL wife Kelly Stafford reveals weed gummies ‘make me a better parent'

Kelly Stafford shared her ultimate parenting hack. Kelly, who shares four daughters with husband and Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, revealed in the latest episode of her podcast she "sometimes" enjoys taking THC gummies. "Gummies are great," she said on "The Morning After" podcast. "Sometimes I feel like gummies make me a better parent. They calm me down. It's like the glass of wine." Kelly, who has four children under 8, said she does feel "a little guilty" admitting it. "I feel a little guilty saying it, and it's not like I do it every night, but sometimes I'm like, 'S--- it has been a long day. I don't want to rip my hair out or their hair out, so I am going to just top it off with a little gummy.'" Kelly added that she does have the support of her husband. "This is what Matthew always tells me. He's like, 'As long as they're in bed, fed and happy and feel loved, who cares how they get there?' Just like, just get them there." A recent study by researchers at UC San Francisco determined that eating edible cannabis, such as gummies, has the same cardiovascular risk as smoking marijuana for long-term users. The risk stems from reduced blood vessel function, according to the study, published in JAMA Cardiology May 28. The Stafford family faced uncertainty this offseason amid trade speculation and stalled contract negotiations between the veteran NFL quarterback and the Rams. In March, the sides agreed to a restructured deal. "This is where we both wanted to be, and I'm just glad he gets to play for the team and the coach that he wants to end his career with," Kelly said on her podcast in March. The NFL Network reported last month that, under the new restructured contract, Stafford is due to earn up to $84 million over the next two years. Under his previous contract, that number was $58 million. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

2025 Travelers Championship picks, odds: Sam Burns, Brian Harman among names to watch

After a U.S. Open that literally saw only its winner, J.J. Spaun, finish under par, the PGA Tour resumes with the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Connecticut. While this tournament should challenge its competitors, it certainly won't be the test the Oakmont Country Club put players through last weekend. And this weekend's field features several of the tour's stars, who'll be anxious to put tough performances past them, as well as other who are hoping the U.S. Open was beginning of a run. Advertisement With that in mind here are some picks for this weekend (Odds are from BetMGM): Scottie Scheffler (+300): Oakmont saw the most inaccurate drives, statistically, from Scheffler this year and the No. 1 ranked player didn't lose any strokes from the the tee, according to Even if Scheffler, isn't using the long club as well as we've come to expect, he's still playing great golf. He hasn't finished worse than T8 in a tournament since mid-March and has won three out of his last five starts. Sam Burns (+3000): Burns was leading the field heading into the final round of the U.S. Open. He had a tough back nine including a controversial ruling on 15 that denied him relief from a water soaked area. Save for that half of the round, he was playing Oakmont as well as he had been leading up to the major. Since the Masters, he's only finished outside of the top 20 in one of his seven starts. Burns brings it back close on 14. He'll have that left to tie Spaun for the lead. — U.S. Open (@usopengolf) June 15, 2025 Cameron Young (+4000): Young is another golfer that came into the U.S. Open with a lot of momentum and carried it through. He picked up 2.03 true strokes on the greens, according to while also striking the ball well off the tee. Ben Griffin (+5000): Griffin has been on quite the run over the last month. His last four starts were T10, second, a win and T8. He's picking up strokes all over the course and is in great form. Brian Harman (+6600): Harman historically plays well at this course and tournament. In 14 career starts he's finished in the top 10 seven times, including his last four appearances. It also doesn't seem to matter what sort of form he's in heading into the Travelers making him player to watch in this week's field. Advertisement Sam Burns — Top 5 (+500): Burns has been terrific putting the ball. This course features some challenging greens where' that skill could come in handy. These odds also feel like a good value for a player with Burns' momentum. Brian Harman – Top 10 (+450): As noted earlier, he's finished in the top 10 in half of his starts at this event. These are great odds for what has historically been a coin flip. That's a ⭕ on the card. It's early, but Brian Harman is the only player currently on the course in red figures for the day. — U.S. Open (@usopengolf) June 14, 2025 Tommy Fleetwood — Top 20 (+110): Fleetwood missed a cut for the first time this year at the U.S. Open. In his 13 other starts he's finished in the top 20 eight times. Harry Hall — Top 30 (+130): Hall is playing better than his rank (84), especially over the last month. His last four finishes starting with his most recent were T24, T6, T19 and T20. Betting/odds links in this article are provided by partners of The Athletic. Restrictions may apply.
