‘Anyone For A Morning Swim?': Farah Khan's Witty Take On Mumbai Rains
Farah Khan shares a glimpse of Mumbai's waterlogged streets after heavy overnight rainfall.
On Friday night, Mumbai and its suburbs witnessed a relentless spell of heavy showers, with several areas recording more than 200 mm of rainfall in the early hours of Saturday. While the sudden downpour brought the city to a halt, causing waterlogging and traffic snarls, filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan decided to capture a glimpse of the condition and share it with fans.
Taking to Instagram Stories on Saturday, Farah shared a video giving a peek into the city's rain-soaked streets.
Farah Khan Steps Out Of Her Home After Rainfall
The video shared on her official handle is captured by Farah from inside of her car. The clip, filmed from inside her car, shows a waterlogged stretch where the road appears almost submerged. The sight of a line of autos waiting by the roadside made the street look more like a stream than a busy Mumbai lane.
Never missing a chance to add humour, Farah captioned the story with a witty line: 'Anyone for a morning swim??" Her witty take on the otherwise chaotic scene instantly connected with fans who are used to her candid updates.
Farah Khan Adds Kishore Kumar's Classic To Her Monsoon Clip
To give her video a nostalgic twist, Farah chose an evergreen Kishore Kumar track as the background score. She added Nadiya Se Dariya, from the 1973 Hrishikesh Mukherjee directorial Namak Haram. The song, composed by R.D. Burman and sung by Kishore Kumar, remains an iconic melody. The film featured stalwarts like Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, A.K. Hangal, Simi Garewal and Asrani. By choosing this particular number, Farah effortlessly blended her humorous post with a touch of old-school Bollywood charm.
Mumbai Rains: City Under Red Alert
Meanwhile, Mumbai continues to reel under the impact of the heavy downpour. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the city, warning of extremely heavy rainfall for the next two days. Several low-lying areas, including Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Andheri, Bhandup, Kings Circle, Malad and Goregaon, have reported severe waterlogging, making it difficult for residents to commute. The local train services, often described as the city's lifeline, were also disrupted due to flooding on tracks.
Farah Khan's Career As a Choreographer and Filmmaker
While her humorous posts often go viral, Farah Khan's stature in Bollywood goes far beyond social media. With a career spanning over three decades, she has choreographed more than a hundred songs across 80 films and has been the creative force behind some of Hindi cinema's most memorable dance sequences. Her work has fetched her numerous accolades, including the National Film Award for Best Choreography and seven Filmfare Awards in the same category.
In 2004, Farah made her directorial debut with Main Hoon Na, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Sushmita Sen, and proved her mettle behind the camera. She went on to direct commercial hits like Om Shanti Om, Tees Maar Khan and Happy New Year, cementing her reputation as one of Bollywood's most versatile talents.
Apart from films, she has been a familiar face on Indian television, often invited as a judge on shows like Indian Idol, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, India's Got Talent, Nach Baliye and Zee Comedy Show.
Currently, Farah also connects with her fans through her YouTube vlog channel, where she collaborates with her cook, Dilip, to visit the homes of celebrities. The duo prepares food together, engages in fun conversations, and often reveals candid, lesser-known sides of stars, much to the delight of viewers.

AR Murugadoss reflects on Sikandar's failure: 'I couldn't execute it well'
Acclaimed filmmaker A.R. Murugadoss has opened up about the emotional weight of his recent Bollywood project 'Sikandar', admitting the film did not turn out the way he had hoped. In a candid interview with Velaipechu Voice, the director spoke honestly about the challenges he faced and the personal toll it took on him. 'The story was about a king who never truly valued his wife. Only after her death, when her organs are donated to three people, does he try to fulfil what he couldn't do for her. It was deeply emotional, but I couldn't execute it well,' Murugadoss said. Known for his success with 'Ghajini' — the 2008 hit starring Aamir Khan — Murugadoss admitted that making a film from an original script like 'Sikandar' proved far more difficult. 'I could pull off Ghajini because it was a remake. With Sikandar, that wasn't the case,' he reflected. Despite the disappointment, the director is not turning his back on Hindi cinema. He expressed hope for a return under the right circumstances. 'I will definitely return to Hindi cinema if I find my comfort zone. But when audiences don't connect with my thinking, it affects me deeply,' he noted. Murugadoss remains a respected figure in Indian cinema, particularly in the Tamil industry, where he has delivered multiple hits. His honest comments have sparked conversation online, with many praising his openness about failure and creative struggle. The director will next be helming 'Madharaasi'. It is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language psychological action thriller written and directed by A.R. Murugadoss. Backed by Sri Lakshmi Movies, the film marks Murugadoss's first collaboration with actor Sivakarthikeyan. The cast includes Sivakarthikeyan in the lead, joined by Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Vikranth, Shabeer Kallarakkal, and Rukmini Vasanth. Supporting roles are played by Prem Kumar, Sanjay, and Sachana Namidass. Initially announced in September 2023 under the working titles SKxARM and SK23, the project quickly gained attention as it brought together two major names in Tamil cinema for the first time. The film's music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with cinematography by Sudeep Elamon and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad. Madharaasi is set for theatrical release on 5 September 2025.

From Raid 2 to Kung Fu Hustle, watch these 5 trending films that will leave you stunned with its climax, streaming on...
Few movies in the action, suspense, and emotion genres stand out, weaving cinematic tales that thrill us. Here is a list of some of the best action-packed films currently streaming on Netflix. Each has its own unique flavors, impressive stunts, or unfathomable plots that are guaranteed to engage and entertain. Raid 2 (IMDb: 8.0) Raid 2, featuring Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh, is gripping Indian action thriller that continues the story of a valiant police officer battling crime and corruption. This film's intense action scenes and strong performances make it a mainstay of favorites among high-octane Bollywood thriller fans. Kung Fu Hustle (IMDb: 7.7) This film carries a rare mix of humor and heightened martial arts action. The film retains comic book logic, following a two-bit crook trying to bust into a dangerous gang when he stumbles onto secret martial arts masters in his old neighborhood. It features over-the-top fighting and plenty of laughs, amplifying the action and humor for primo entertainment. My Oxford Year (IMDb: 6.8) It is an overseas youth development domestic film. It tells the story of a young student studying abroad in Oxford. The student is a happy dream chaser, who struggles to adapt to a demanding new environment and a foreign culture while pursuing her studies in architecture. Though less action-oriented, the film has emotional depth, offering a coming-of-age tale with a little more than a flavor of personal growth. Extraction (IMDb: 6.7) This high-octane thriller shows off a dynamic performance by Chris Hemsworth as a black ops mercenary given the impossible job of rescuing a crime lord's son from a hostile city. Relentless action makes the film scarcely able to breathe, and while the direction lacks finesse, the movie compensates with sheer audacity. The Night Comes for Us (IMDb: 7.0) This film from Indonesia, an action spectacle, follows a triad enforcer who is torn between giving in to the triad and doing the right thing. It's known for its violence and the intricate choreography of that violence. Action movie aficionados are guaranteed a visceral experience that pushes the boundaries of action cinema.
