Tate brothers will return to UK to face charges after Romanian legal proceedings, lawyers say
LONDON: Internet personality Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan will return to Britain to face criminal charges once separate legal proceedings in Romania have been concluded, a lawyer for the siblings said.
Britain's Crown Prosecution Service confirmed earlier this week that it had previously authorized charges against the brothers including rape, actual bodily harm and human trafficking.
The Tates are facing a separate criminal investigation in Romania over trafficking allegations, and the courts there have already approved their extradition to the UK.
The brothers have denied all the allegations.
'Once those proceedings are concluded in their entirety then The Tates will return to face UK allegations,' Holborn Adams, the law firm representing the brothers, said in a statement on Thursday.
Andrew Tate, a self-described misogynist who has gained millions of fans by promoting an ultra-masculine lifestyle, separately faces a civil lawsuit in Britain, which has been brought by four women and is due to go to trial in 2027.

Defense Minister John Healey announced the munitions investment program in a BBC interview on Sunday, describing it as "a message to Moscow" as well as a way to stimulate the country's sluggish economy. The Ministry of Defense said it would procure up to 7,000 long-range weapons, built in Britain. The extra investment means Britain will spend around 6 billion pounds on munitions in the current parliament, the MoD said. The Sunday Times reported the government wanted to purchase US-made fighter jets capable of firing tactical nuclear weapons. The MoD did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the report. The Strategic Defense Review, commissioned by Starmer's Labor government shortly after it won power last July, will set out the threats Britain faces and the military equipment and services needed to meet them. Starmer has already committed to raise defense spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2027 and target a 3% level over the longer term. The government has already announced a billion-pound plan to invest in Artificial Intelligence that can be used to enhance battlefield decision-making, and has separately committed to spend an extra 1.5 billion pounds to tackle the poor state of housing for the country's armed forces.

‘Doctor Who' Season Finale Surprises Fans with an Exit and a Familiar Face
A familiar face to 'Doctor Who' fans is rejoining the long-running British sci-fi series as Ncuti Gatwa exits the lead role after two seasons. In Saturday's season finale, Gatwa's Time Lord regenerated and fans got a glimpse of Billie Piper, who played the character Rose Tyler for 35 episodes between 2005 and 2013. Tyler was a companion to versions of the doctor played by Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. Producers are keeping Piper's new role secret for now. 'Just how and why she is back remains to be seen,' the BBC said in a statement after the finale aired. Gatwa took over the role from Jodie Whittaker in 2023. Whittaker was the 13th Doctor and the first woman to play the central galaxy-hopping, extraterrestrial Time Lord who regenerates into new bodies, taking over from Peter Capaldi in 2017. Martin was the second woman. 'Doctor Who' first aired from 1963 to 1989 and returned in 2005. In the US, new episodes air on Disney+.

Pakistan, UK agree to increase cooperation at multilateral fora
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his British counterpart David Lammy on Sunday agreed to enhance cooperation in multilateral fora, particularly the UN Security Council, state-run media reported. Pakistan and the UK enjoy cordial relations. These ties have translated into the two nations harboring cooperation in military, economic, and educational sectors, with the latter hosting a large Pakistani diaspora. The conversation between the two diplomats follows Lammy's first official visit to Pakistan last month, where he met the country's top officials following Pakistan's dangerous military standoff with nuclear-armed rival India. 'They exchanged views on further enhancing bilateral cooperation in multilateral fora, particularly at the UN Security Council,' state broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported. The state media said both leaders agreed to maintain contact. They also agreed to meet on the sidelines of the high-level events scheduled to be held later this month at the United Nations, New York, the state broadcaster said. The UK is one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council along with China, US, Russia and France. The Security Council seeks to maintain international peace and security in accordance with the principles of the UN and investigates any dispute or situation which might lead to international friction. The UK was one of several countries actively engaged in restoring calm between India and Pakistan after the two neighbors were engaged in conflict for four days last month. India blamed Pakistan for being involved in an April 22 attack on a tourist resort in the part of Kashmir administered by Delhi. Islamabad denied involvement and called for an international probe into the incident. After India struck multiple Pakistani sites on May 6 with missiles, describing them as 'terrorist camps,' the two sides traded missiles, artillery and drone strikes for four days before Washington brokered a ceasefire between the two on May 10. Tensions between both nations continue to persist, with Pakistan warning it would respond to any further violations of its sovereignty by India.
