Anti-Drugs Agency Freezes Assets Worth 9 Crores In Crackdown on Narco-Financing
The anti-drugs agency or the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has secured the freezing of immovable properties worth Rs 9.20 crore linked to a major amphetamine trafficking case, coming down heavily on narco-financing.
The assets were attached under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), 1985.
The seized assets include a luxury apartment in Jaypee Greens and a factory unit in Kasna Industrial Area, Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, all allegedly purchased using proceeds from international synthetic drug trafficking.
The seizure is part of a wider investigation stemming from a joint operation conducted by the NCB and the Delhi Police Special Cell in October 2024, which led to the busting of a clandestine Amphetamine lab in Gautam Budh Nagar and the seizure of 95.501 kilograms of the drug in both solid and liquid forms.
Sources said the mastermind, a Delhi-based businessman, was operating the lab with help from four others - including a Tihar Jail warden and a Mexican national. All five accused were arrested and remain in judicial custody.
The probe has further revealed that the lab's financing was backed by the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJNG) - a notorious Mexican drug cartel. The syndicate routed funds through cryptocurrency to Dubai, which were later delivered to New Delhi via hawala in three instalments.
Officials said the property attachment marks a significant step in choking the financial networks of transnational drug syndicates.
"This case exemplifies NCB's commitment to identifying and dismantling the ecosystem of drug trafficking," a senior officer said.
The agency has also appealed to citizens to support its anti-narcotics efforts. Any individual with information related to drug sale or trafficking can call the MANAS - National Narcotics Helpline at 1933. The identity of the caller is kept confidential.

Panic broke out late Saturday night at a restaurant in Ghaziabad when a group of armed men stormed in and vandalised the premises, causing chaos amongst diners, including women and children. Tax evasion a national crime, take stern action against fake firms: CM
1 2 Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday directed officials to act against shell companies and fake firms that are deriving undue benefits against the rules. He said that such acts were an attempt to misuse the facilities meant for genuine traders and the matter should be dealt with seriously. The CM, while conducting a high-level review of the state tax department, directed officials to ensure transparency in tax collection and adopt a policy of technological efficiency and strict enforcement. Calling the act of such companies 'unforgivable', Yogi said, "Tax evasion is a national crime that negatively impacts development plans and welfare schemes." Stressing that GST is a consumer-based tax system, he noted that areas with higher population density were naturally expected to generate increased tax revenues for the state coffers. He instructed officials to develop special strategies for zones where tax collection is below average. Yogi directed that information on suspicious firms registered under central GST (CGST) be shared with the higher authorities in Delhi for cancellation of their registration. He ordered in-depth departmental investigations for firms under state GST (SGST). Such inspections are essential to ensure that genuine businesses can operate fairly and without interference." During the meeting, officials informed the CM that nearly Rs 18,162 crore was collected through GST and VAT tax components in April and May of the 2025-26 financial year. The target for the year assigned to the department is Rs 1.76 lakh crore. Appreciating the progress, the CM directed officials to achieve the target through regular monitoring. The CM praised the achievements of 14 zones, including Lucknow, Ayodhya, Bareilly, Agra, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Meerut, Jhansi, and Saharanpur divisions, for achieving increased targets. In contrast, officials in Varanasi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Etawah, Aligarh, and Moradabad were reprimanded for collecting less than 50% of the stipulated target. He said that a detailed report should be prepared covering the role of officials deputed in the low-performing regions and sent to the govt. He emphasized that revenue was not just a number, but the foundation of development, and every officer should carry out their duties with responsibility and sensitivity. "In areas with weak tax collection, additional, joint, and deputy commissioners should personally engage with traders to build trust, cooperation, and a sense of compliance among the taxpayer community," said Yogi.

Yahya was shot dead by IDF soldiers eight months ago. Both brothers were born—and killed—in the Khan Yunis area. Items belonging to them, along with intelligence materials and other bodies, were also recovered. Footage released by the IDF showed a body being dragged from a tunnel under the hospital.
