Joanna Gaines has been celebrating some pretty big milestones in her family over the past month, especially with her oldest daughter Ella. In fact, she recently shared a big proud mom moment on Instagram that even had her followers getting emotional. Because time passes so fast with kids, it can be tough to keep up.
The Magnolia Network star took to social media on Sunday to share her "proud" moment with 18-year-old daughter Ella; her high school graduation. Ella is the second of the Gaines children to graduate high school, following 20-year-old son Drake who graduated two years ago. The mom of five is really in her feelings about this big milestone, sharing several emotional Instagram posts about her kids leaving the nest. The first post included her 6-year-old son Crew checking out the nest of a mother songbird with the poignant message, "Praying for all you mamas who are planning and prepping for graduation. We did our very best. They will soar. May we hold gratitude for all that was and carry hope for all that's to come."
Now the big day has arrived. And Joanna Gaines shared a sweet video of Ella's graduation, from her daughter in a cap and gown (and chic red heels) to the football stadium where the event was held, to that final hug between mom and daughter afterwards. "So very proud," Gaines captioned the post.
Fans were quick to share their own congratulations with the family, writing messages like, "They have grown up fast! Right before our eyes! Wow! Congratulations, to the Gaines family and all graduates!" and "Congratulations! I can't believe it, I got chills. I've been watching since the very beginning when all the kids were so young. Wishing all the best in all future endeavors."
Gaines went on to share another post about her "fun, busy graduation weekend," noting that she found it "so hard to believe we'll have two kids in college this August" as she spent time picking flowers in her garden, being followed around by little ducklings.
It's definitely a time of change for young Ella, who hilariously broke her dad Chip Gaines' curfew rule on her recent prom night. Chip Gaines admitted he went to bed early that night while Joanna Gaines waited up for her daughter until the wee hours of the morning.
Such is the life of a mom with a kid about to leave the nest. Sure, Ella might be interning with her mom at Magnolia these days, but she'll be headed off to college in August. And Joanna Gaines is clearly just soaking up all of those precious moments with her until she goes.
