Two arrested in protest outside ICE facility after ‘Free Moises' rally

PORTLAND, Ore. () — Hours after a rally in support of an Oregon man who was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the gathering outside the ICE facility in South Portland got tense between protesters and federal agents, resulting in two arrests Wednesday night.
By 11 p.m., the crowd of protesters had grown substantially in the last couple of hours. Protesters were seen lighting fireworks and moving what appeared to be a dumpster in front of the ICE facility. Federal agents were seen deploying flash-bangs at the crowd.
The Portland Police Bureau they have been monitoring the activity in South Portland but have not been involved in immigration enforcement.
Earlier Wednesday, a rally was planned for 7 p.m. in support of a Newberg vineyard worker who was arrested by ICE last week and is now in Tacoma, Washington, according to his family.

There's been a steady presence of protesters outside the ICE facility since last week, with some camping overnight on multiple days. Some of the late-night protests have included people getting arrested for alleged property destruction and other crimes and federal agents responding with tear gas.
Wednesday night, one protester was arrested after police said he was seen 'pointing a powerful laser' at federal officers. At around 11:15 p.m., he was taken into custody for unlawful directing of light from a laser pointer. Police added the protester was wearing a ballistic vest and had a gas mask. He was later booked on a US Marshal's hold.
Then at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, a second protester was arrested for trespassing near trolley tracks by the ICE facility.
In total, 25 people have been arrested by Portland police during protests outside the ICE facility in the past week and a half, according to PPB.
The campers that were once alongside the ICE facility have since been moved down about a block away on South Bond Avenue. Federal agents have warned protesters that if they are on the ICE property, they could be arrested.
