Fiorentina's Zaniolo denies alleged physical altercation with Roma youth players

Fiorentina midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo has denied being involved in a physical altercation with AS Roma's youth team players following Fiorentina's 2-1 win over Roma in the Primavera 1 Under-20 playoff semi-finals on Monday.
Roma released a statement on Monday night saying that Zaniolo was involved in an incident.
"According to reports, the player is said to have entered the dressing room of the Primavera team after the match and displayed provocative behaviour towards some of the youth players," Roma said.
"During the confrontation, two players from the Primavera squad were allegedly physically assaulted."
The 25-year-old Zaniolo, who is on loan at Fiorentina from Turkish club Galatasaray, posted a statement on Instagram on Tuesday denying physical aggression.
"I went there with the only intention of giving a positive message... Unfortunately, I was verbally provoked by a boy and, mistakenly, I lost my temper," he wrote.
"However, I would like to point out that the facts are far removed from what has been reconstructed and that on my part, apart from a verbal argument, there was no physically aggressive behaviour.
"I want to apologise from the bottom of my heart for what happened yesterday. I know I reacted badly and I take responsibility for it." REUTERS

Finland summons Russian diplomat over second airspace violation in weeks
HELSINKI - Finland's foreign ministry said on Wednesday it had summoned a Russian diplomat over a suspected June 10 violation of Finnish airspace, the second such event in under three weeks. NATO member Finland on Tuesday said it believed a Russian military aircraft entered its airspace off the coast of Porvoo in the southern part of the country, and that the Finnish Border Guard was investigating the incident. Poland charges citizen with spying for Russia
WARSAW - Poland has detained and charged one of its citizens with spying for Russian intelligence services, the State Prosecutor's Office said on Wednesday. Warsaw says its role as a hub for supplies to Ukraine has made it a target for spies and sabotage from Russia. Moscow has repeatedly dismissed such accusations. "The prosecutor charged the detained Polish citizen Wiktor Z. with declaring readiness to act for the intelligence of the Russian Federation and conducting activities for its benefit," the State Prosecutor's Office said in a press release. These included collecting and transmitting information concerning, among other things, the functioning of facilities key to Poland's defence, according to the statement, which did not elaborate. "The suspect, Wiktor Z., is 28 years old and has higher education. According to the findings, he acted out of ideological motives and pro-Russian beliefs," it added. Wiktor Z. was detained on June 4 by Poland's Internal Security Agency and could face between eight years and life in prison, according to the press release. The Russian embassy in Warsaw did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment. Warsaw says Moscow has been behind a series of acts of sabotage in Poland, including a huge fire at a Warsaw shopping centre last year, as well as cyberattacks and disinformation campaigns. Australia's Suaalii fit to face the Lions after broken jaw
SYDNEY - Wallabies back Joseph Suaalii said he would be fit to face the British & Irish Lions in July and August after a month-long layoff with a broken jaw. The high profile signing from rugby league has had a disrupted first season in Super Rugby Pacific with injuries severely limiting his time on the pitch. "My face was really big for a bit, I was wearing a face mask everywhere," he told reporters after meeting some real lions at Sydney's Taronga Zoo on Wednesday. "I'll be fully fit. Obviously, had a toe injury, then my jaw and concussion as well. But you know, it's all part of the game. "It's such an important time for myself and Australian rugby and I want to be playing, so obviously I was a little bit of a nerves but ... I had surgery maybe three weeks ago now and looking good going into the Lions." Suaalii said he had lost nearly five kilograms due to the difficulties of eating with a broken jaw but had put it all back on again since. "I've been eating heaps," he said. "Thanks to my mum and my family around me to help me stay on track." The knee of his Wallabies teammate Andrew Kellaway's was the inadvertent cause of the broken jaw and the winger feared at one stage that he might be remembered as the man who ended Suaalii's chances of facing the Lions. "Nobody wants to crash the Ferrari, that's not what anyone wants," Kellaway joked. "He looks alright, he's doing a lot of talking, which is a good sign." Suaalii said he felt he had played enough rugby to compete at the highest level against the Lions, adding that he would be comfortable playing at fullback, on the wing or in the centres. Australia's one warm-up test against Fiji in Newcastle on July 6 was definitely on his radar, Suaalii said, and he could not wait to tangle with the tourists. "These are the biggest games of my life, I believe," he said. "Some people play it once in your career, and it happens every 12 years."
