Souths feeling Munro's pain after yet another injury
Munro scored two first-half tries against the Dolphins on Friday night but did not return after half-time as the Rabbitohs sealed a 16-14 win to open their NRL season.
At full-time, Munro was seen with his right arm in a sling and, after only one game to begin the year, told teammates he feared another collarbone injury.

A long-term injury would be a bitter blow for Munro, who managed only four games last season as a result of two separate collarbone fractures.
"He's done one in both shoulders now," Souths coach Wayne Bennett said at full-time on Friday.
Munro had been due to begin last season as a first-choice winger at Souths before his injury struggles, and looked poised to finally have extended time in the backline at first-grade level this yera.
The 20-year-old has already shown glimpses of his potential, and won over the rugby league community by scoring two tries against Penrith days after his mother's sudden death last August.
Stand-in Souths captain Cody Walker said the Rabbitohs were feeling Munro's pain after his latest injury.
"Everyone's disappointed at the club but he's already positive as it is," the five-eighth said.
"I was just talking to him in the sheds, he thinks he's done it again, but he said he'd be right."
The depleted Rabbitohs can ill-afford to lose more troops given Cameron Murray (Achilles), Latrell Mitchell (hamstring), Alex Johnston (Achilles) and Euan Aitken (pectoral) are already out.
Utility Jayden Sullivan came into the backline against the Dolphins after Munro went down but specialist winger Fletcher Myers appears likelier to start in Souths' round-two game against St George Illawarra.
As Munro began another stint in the casualty ward, Souths centre Campbell Graham and Dolphins captain Tom Gilbert made their long-awaited return on Friday night.
A troublesome sternum injury had sidelined Graham since September 2023, while Gilbert's shoulder and knee issues had combined to keep him out since that year's State of Origin series.
Between them, the two men had been absent from the NRL for a combined total of more than 1200 days.
Gilbert said it had been emotional to make his return after so long.
"I just wanted to embrace it," he said.
"You never know when your last game is. I just really enjoyed the week and saw the opportunity to play another first-grade game. I just wanted to take it with both hands."

Scott Sattler is reportedly being 'targeted' for a role in the Gold Coast Titans' front-office, in a move that could help turn around the NRL cellar-dwellers. And it could actually pave the way for Titans forward David Fifita to move to South Sydney this off-season. The Titans seem destined to get the wooden spoon in 2025, with Des Hasler's side sitting last with three rounds remaining. Titans officials have declared Hasler will remain coach in 2026, but there's increasing speculation he won't. On Friday, leading journalist David Riccio revealed the struggling club is eyeing Panthers premiership hero Sattler for a managerial role. As well as playing 118 games for the Panthers and captaining them to the 2003 premiership, Sattler also played 54 games for Gold Coast and debuted for the club when they were known as the Seagulls in 1992. He also played for the South Queensland Crushers and Gold Coast Chargers, and has a strong affiliation with the area. In 2006 he was appointed as the Titans' football manager and held the role until 2008. Riccio revealed on SEN radio on Friday: "I think we all believe there's going to be movement at the Titans around their head coach Des Hasler, but it's my understanding they're going to target Scott Sattler. Scott was the inaugural football manager when the Titans first came into the comp and was part of the only finals campaign of the Gold Coast Chargers (as a player). "There's a deep affinity with Gold Coast rugby league in the Sattler family. It's my understanding that Scott will be targeted to be the Titans' new GM of football, or a very senior football management role, to be part of what I believe will be a massive overhaul. I firmly believe this will develop into the next two to three weeks." Sattler would no doubt be able to play a role in recruiting and retaining youngsters. If Sattler does join the Titans in coming weeks, one of his first decisions might be whether the club keeps Fifita or lets him walk. The former State of Origin star has only played eight games in 2025, and has undergone season-ending ankle surgery. The 25-year-old is under contract until the end of 2026, but is reportedly eyeing an early exit to join the Rabbitohs next year. Earlier this week, Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett admitted he's definitely interested in signing Fifita if he's released from the Titans early. 'Souths' salary cap is super tight. They don't have the scope to accommodate David Fifita at full freight," he said. 'So, whether or not the Titans would be willing to chip in, and what is David Fifita worth on the open market now? We know Wayne loves to take a chance on players. I don't know whether he is the player they need at South Sydney. 'But if you've got Keaon (Koloamatangi) back to the middle and Fifita on an edge, it would make them stronger. But they need to get him at a super cut-price.'

'Cannot be ignored': Michael Ennis calls out glaring truth about Latrell Mitchell
Michael Ennis and Warren Smith have both declared that Jye Gray must remain as the Rabbitohs' starting fullback over Latrell Mitchell - not only for the rest of this season but for 2026 as well. Gray was superb again on Thursday night as Souths thrashed the Dragons 40-0. The diminutive fullback made a staggering 353 running metres from 31 carries, scoring a try and breaking three tackles. It was just 17 metres shy of the all-time record for most run metres in a single game (370) - set by Joey Manu last season. The Rabbitohs have now won seven out of 14 games when Gray has started at fullback in 2025. With Mitchell in the No.1 jersey, the Bunnies are just 2-5 this year - albeit against some higher-ranked opposition. Mitchell missed five weeks with a quad injury between Rounds 18 and 22, and played left centre when he made his return against the Titans in Round 23. But his return only lasted one game, and he's missed the last two weeks with a pinched nerve in his back. All up he's only played 11 out of a possible 23 games so far this year. Gray has been much more durable, playing 17 games at either fullback, five-eighth or off the bench. The Bunnies have the bye in Round 26 before a clash with the Roosters in the final round of the regular season. Coach Wayne Bennett is hopeful of having Mitchell back for one last game before their season ends, but he'll have to make a tricky call as to what position he plays. Michael Ennis says Jye Gray's form 'cannot be ignored' Speaking in commentary during Thursday night's game, Ennis and Smith declared there's no way Bennett can shift Gray. "If Latrell does return, surely he stays at left centre where he was a couple of weeks ago," Smith said. Ennis said: "You cannot ignore Jye Gray. He had four try-saves last week (against Parramatta). He had a try and another try tonight. I think Gray stays at fullback and Latrell goes back to left centre for sure." Smith added: "I guess the bigger question is, do they begin 2026 in that formation?" Ennis responded: "That will be fascinating." Crucially, the Rabbitohs face the prospect of losing Gray to a rival club if he doesn't get the playing time he deserves. The 21-year-old is believed to be on the radar of the Perth Bears for their inaugural season in 2027, and comes off contract with Souths at the end of 2026. Tellingly, a poll of over 50,000 Yahoo readers shows the overwhelming majority believe Mitchell should be playing centre rather than fullback. Latrell Mitchell could help Alex Johnston make history Bennett has usually preferred Mitchell at fullback, and turned him from a centre to a No.1 when he signed him from the Roosters back in 2020. But the goalposts have changed in recent times, and Mitchell has shown he's a gun centre when playing there for NSW and Australia. Johnston bagged a try on Thursday night to take his career tally to 210 - just two shy of Ken Irvine's all-time record. But it could have been more on Thursday night if Mitchell was playing inside him. Johnston's record with Mitchell at left centre is much better than without, and there were a number of instances on Thursday night when Tallis Duncan (a second-rower playing centre) went himself instead of trying to set up Johnston.

Dan Campbell's squad dominated the day on both sides of the ball, and towards the end of practice, the benches cleared due to a fight between Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams and Dolphins defensive back Ifeatu Melifonwu. After practice, Melifonwu spoke about his heated confrontation with Williams, stating that it was just football. "I asked Ifeatu Melifonwu about the scuffle with him and Jamo today," Eric Woodyard of ESPN said on X. "He [Melifonwu] said 'it's football.' However, Williams had a different response to the fight at the end of joint practice. The fourth-year receiver went to Instagram and posted a picture of himself with sunglasses with a one-word caption, "Mood." According to Colton Pouncy of The Athletic, the Lions completely embarrassed the Dolphins on Wednesday. Pouncey called it "the most lopsided joint practice I've ever seen." Both teams will have another joint practice on Thursday and end the week with a preseason contest at Ford Field on Saturday. If the Thursday's practice and the preseason game are anything like Wednesday's practice, Mike McDaniel and Miami are in for a long week. Detroit will end the preseason at home versus the Houston Texans and then start preparing for the roster cuts. The Lions will take on the Green Bay Packers in Week 1 at Lambeau Field.
