Michael J. Fox and other stars of classic film Back To The Future appealed for the public's help on June 3 in locating the red Gibson guitar featured in a memorable scene.
Marty McFly, the time-travelling teen portrayed by Fox in the 1985 film, stunned students at a 1950s high school dance with wild electric guitar riffs played on a Gibson ES-345 Cherry Red guitar in the movie.
The guitar went missing after production wrapped.
"It's somewhere lost in the space-time continuum, or it's in some Teamster's garage," Fox joked in a video released by Gibson.
Co-stars Lea Thompson, Christopher Lloyd and Harry Waters Jr. also urged the public to join the search, as did singer Huey Lewis, whose song The Power Of Love was featured in the movie.
Gibson is filming a documentary called Lost To The Future about the search for the guitar. It also plans to re-issue the ES-345 Cherry Red in October.
People can submit tips about the guitar's whereabout via or via a phone number provided on the site. – Reuters

Sean 'Diddy' Combs tells courtroom artist he looks like a 'koala' in sketches

'Soften me up a bit, you're making me look like a koala bear,' Sean Combs said, according to sketch artist Jane Rosenberg. Photo: Reuters Before the jury in Sean "Diddy" Combs' sex trafficking trial returned from a lunch break on Thursday, the grey-bearded hip-hop mogul turned to face courtroom sketch artist Jane Rosenberg in the first row to make an unusual request. "Soften me up a bit, you're making me look like a koala bear," Combs said, according to Rosenberg. Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty to five criminal counts of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. During the four weeks of his trial, he has worn sweaters and sported greying hair and a goatee. Rosenberg, a well-known sketch artist, has been documenting the proceedings for Reuters in Manhattan federal court, where photography and video recording are prohibited. Combs, also known throughout his career as Puff Daddy and P. Diddy, is not the first high-profile defendant to remark on Rosenberg's depictions of them. Earlier this year, Rudy Giuliani told Rosenberg she had made him look like his dog. The former New York City mayor was in court in a civil case stemming from his false accusations that two election workers helped steal the 2020 US presidential election for Democrat Joe Biden. And in 2023, Donald Trump Jr. had a blunt request for Rosenberg during a civil fraud trial over his family's real estate business: "Make me look sexy." Combs could face life in prison if convicted on all counts in the trial. He has nonetheless demonstrated good spirits during some breaks in the trial, often making a heart gesture with his hands toward family seated in the front row. But his behaviour in court drew a rebuke on Thursday by US District Judge Arun Subramanian. The judge said he had noticed Combs nodding in the jury's direction during his lawyer's cross-examination of a witness. Subramanian said that was "unacceptable" and threatened to kick Combs out of the courtroom if he sought to interact with the jury again. – Reuters

Forging family traditions in steel

TUMPAT: Traditional knifemaker Mohammad Zunurain Daud is a busy man these days, working around the clock to fulfil orders for pisau lapah (butcher knives) to be used in the Qurban ritual during Hari Raya Haji. Demand for butcher knives typically rises two to threefold about a month before Hari Raya Haji, he said. Usually, he would get 20 to 30 orders for the knife in a regular month but the demand can surge to over 150 blades in the lead-up to korban (the act of sacrifice), which is a significant ritual performed by Muslims during Hari Raya Haji. 'These knives are in high demand from customers not only from across Malaysia, but also Singapore and Thailand. 'In fact, I've had to turn down last-minute orders for fear of not being able to make them in time,' he told Bernama at his workshop in Kampung Bunut Sarang Burung recently. Better known among his customers as Zul, he said each butcher knife is sold for RM100 to RM160, depending on the type of steel used. He also makes slaughter knives, which can fetch up to RM300 each. Zul, who has been honing his craft in knifemaking since 2014, said he was inspired to take up the trade after watching his late grandfather sharpening knives for his personal use. Learning primarily from YouTube and several skilled bladesmiths, Zul started teaching himself the techniques and methods. It took him nearly a month before he was able to produce his first knife. What sets Zul apart from other knifemakers is his commitment to traditional methods. Zul forges blades using charcoal instead of gas, which is more costly. 'I use about 30kg of charcoal daily to produce between three to five knives. Each blade requires around 200gm of steel and takes two to three hours to complete. 'As for the type of steel used, I only select specific materials to ensure the quality of each blade. Typically, I use spring steel, bearing steel, and planer blades (mata ketam) to craft a knife,' said Zul, 37. As for the challenges and risks of the trade, Zul said the most crucial and risky part is the sepuh or the tempering process, which hardens the steel used to achieve optimal sharpness and durability. He said this stage is risky and must be performed with great precision, as any miscalculation could cause the blade to crack, rendering it unusable. 'After selecting the appropriate steel size, usually seven to nine inches for a butcher knife and 11 to 15 inches for a slaughter knife, the steel is heated using charcoal, then hammered or machine-ground into the desired shape. 'Once the desired shape is achieved, the blade is sharpened using three types of whetstones graded 80, 600, and 1,200, each with different levels of grit to produce a razor-sharp edge,' said Zul, who has been involved in the craft for nearly 11 years.

CD Projekt launches Cyberpunk 2077 game on Nintendo Switch 2

Boxes with CD Projekt's game Cyberpunk 2077 are displayed in Warsaw, Poland, December 14, 2020. REUTERS/Kacper Pempel/File Photo GDANSK (Reuters) -Poland's biggest game developer CD Projekt said on Thursday that "Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition" had been launched on the Nintendo Switch 2 console, bringing it to Nintendo players for the first time. Back catalogue sales have become more important for developers due to the increasing number of delays to new games. Last month, Tomb Raider owner Embracer said it was leaning on its back catalogue to maintain cash flow while fewer games are being released. Since the release of "Phantom Liberty" expansion to "Cyberpunk 2077" in September 2023, CD Projekt has been relying on sales of existing games from its back catalogue. Erste Group analyst Krzysztof Tkocz said in a note to clients that the release on Nintendo Switch 2 "will have a significant impact on the company's results in second quarter and subsequent quarters". Gaming fans queued up for the launch of Nintendo's Switch 2 on Thursday amid pent-up demand for the more powerful next-generation gaming device. "We expect that this could be one of the most popular 3rd party games at the launch of the new console", Trigon DM analyst Grzegorz Balcerski said in a note to clients. The price of the game has been set at $69.99 for Nintendo Switch 2. (Reporting by Adrianna Ebert; Editing by Matt Scuffham)
