Shoppers react to Christmas stock spotted in shops in June

And it's not only Christmas items on sale in June that have caused a stir, but 'spooky season' Halloween stuff is also gradually appearing in shops. A post on the Facebook group Extreme Bargains and Savings UK got people talking this week, as a picture of Christmas sweets was posted in Home Bargains. While some shoppers were annoyed by the idea that Christmas had come early, others believed it was a sensible way of planning ahead. One person commented: 'This must be a wind up!' Another added: 'I don't want to think of Christmas just yet. It's only June.' 'Taking the p***,' another said. 'Omg like it's only June! What the hell,' one shocked user commented. But others thought it was a good idea for budgeting, stating: 'Only 29 weeks until Christmas, that's only seven monthly wage packets left.' Discontinued UK Sweets/Chocolates While one person commented: 'Some people can only afford to buy a little at a time, leaving them having to start buying as soon as it's over. It's never too early.' Facebook users also remarked on other stores that they've spotted Christmas and Halloween stock in months in advance. One person added: 'Went to HomeSense/ TK Maxx yesterday…it was flooded with Halloween - have to admit though it's kind of exiting to know spooky season is around the corner.' 'I saw some Christmas stuff in Poundland today,' another added. Recommended reading: When should you start planning for Christmas? While some people may find it a little strange to plan so far in advance, many people turn their thoughts to Christmas at the end of August, experts say. House & Garden says: 'There's no doubt that preparing for Christmas (especially if you're hosting), can be a lot of work. The key, however, is organisation. 'If you get a few things booked in September and October, and then a few jobs checked off the list each week in November and December, the whole thing will feel like a breeze.'

Rachel Reeves warns that Israel-Iran conflict could push up prices

Rachel Reeves has warned that the Israel-Iran conflict could push up prices as costs of oil and gas surged. The Chancellor said the intense fighting had driven up oil and gas prices by 10% - and expressed concern about the impact on trade. Concerns are rising over the Strait of Hormuz - the waterway between Iran and the Arabian peninsula which is vital for global energy supplies. She told Sky News: "There are two immediate concerns. The first is around oil and gas prices. Over the course of this week, oil and gas prices have gone up by just over 10%. They are stille down compared to a few months ago but of course we are keeping an eye on that. "At the same time, trade routes are very important through the Middle East. We've seen disruption there in the past, partly because of the Houthi attacks for example, and so that is of course a concern." Ms Reeves said it was "early days" and the UK is pressing both sides to step back from the brink. * This is a breaking news story. Lidl will soon start selling Stanley cup dupe that's £55 cheaper than the original

LIDL is gearing up to launch a Stanley cup dupe that's £55 cheaper than the original. The discount store's version is almost impossible to tell from the real thing, and it's just £5.99. The Livarno Home Stainless Steel Insulated Mug will be hitting stores from June 22. Just like a Stanley flask, it comes in a Barbie pink shade and has a narrower base to fit in car cup holders. It also has a 2-in-1 lid, which can be used with or without a drinking straw. The body of the flask is double-walled, meaning that it keeps drinks hot or cold. It is also BPA-free, meaning it contains no bisphenol A, which is a synthetic chemical used to make polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. It's often found in various products, including food and drink containers. It can hold up to 1.2L and comes with a three-year warranty. The lid and straw is also dishwasher safe. Original Stanley flasks range between £30 and £60, making Lidl's product £54.99 cheaper. Stanley travel cups are available to buy directly from Stanley's website and other stockists including Amazon, John Lewis, Urban Outfitters, Fruugo and Foot Asylum for a huge £42-£48. Both flasks have a stainless-steel design, double-wall insulation and multi-function sipper suitable to be used with or without a straw. Stanley unveiled an impressive new 2025 line up earlier this year, sending hydration enthusiasts into a frenzy. Since the Barbie collection took the UK by storm in 2023, Stanley has elevated their game with fresh designs that are both practical and Instagram-worthy. Stanley Quencher cups are available to buy directly from Stanley's website, but there are plenty of other UK stockists you can shop from, including: If you're one of the many Brits coveting your very own Stanley Adventure Quencher cup, we have details of where to shop the must-have cup here in the UK. This comes after Lidl unveiled its own take on Crocs. Set to fly off the shelves like clog-work, the headline act, is a shoe-stopping pair of Lidl Adults' Clogs, which come in the iconic Lidl yellow or bold blue. Priced at just £4.99, with sizes ranging from 3.5 to 11, savvy shoppers of all sizes can tap their toes to the beat in style.
