MSMEs set to play key role in job creation

Dinakar said that the coalition government has attracted investments worth Rs 9.3 lakh crore in its first year. He added that the state government aims to provide job opportunities to 20 lakh unemployed youth over the next five years. He emphasised that the government is shifting from an 'Ease of Doing Business' model to a 'Speed of Business' approach, ensuring quicker implementation and better synergy across departments to create jobs.
A review meeting was held at the Secretariat with chairpersons and officials from MSME, SEEDAP, and the planning department. The discussion focused on strategies to generate employment through skill training, particularly in underdeveloped districts.
Dinakar also stated that MSMEs play a vital role in achieving 'Viksit AP' (developed Andhra Pradesh) and 'Viksit Bharat' (developed India). He announced that a proposal would be submitted to the Chief Minister to restructure and further strengthen MSMEs. MSME Development CAorporation chairman Siva Shankar elaborated on comprehensive measures being taken to establish MSME parks across Andhra Pradesh. He stressed the need to restructure the MSME department for better policy implementation and to appoint an additional commissioner to oversee these initiatives.
Sankar also highlighted the crucial role of MSMEs in transforming backward districts like Alluri Sitarama Raju and Parvathipuram Manyam by providing skill-based employment to local youth. CEEDAP chairman Deepak Reddy outlined his organisation's efforts to provide industry-aligned training and facilitate buyback financing for trained candidates. As part of the 'Swarnandhra 2047 Vision,' CEEDAP aims to empower youth with skills and create extensive employment avenues.
Reddy announced plans to establish business and entrepreneurial units in rural areas, allowing local youth to find employment within their communities. He stated that 40 such business units have already been identified, with a target to scale this up to 300 in the next six months. Additionally, efforts are underway to introduce 10 more central government schemes in the state.
He further informed that CEEDAP currently trains 16,000 unemployed youth every three months and has set a goal to train more than 60,000 candidates this year. Currently, 103 training centres are operating under CEEDAP, with plans to add 200–250 new centres in various colleges by next year.

Transport dept proposes e-bus charging depot in Mysuru division
Mysuru: The transport department submitted a proposal to the Union govt, for the establishment of an e-bus charging depot at KSRTC Mysuru division to support its electric bus fleet. This dedicated charging infrastructure depot is proposed to be built on 4.5 acres of land at Banni Mantap, where KSRTC is constructing a new suburban bus stand using the land available at the sprawling bus depot. The facility is exclusively to support electric buses operating from Mysuru. It will have features like a charging station, e-bus parking lot, restrooms, and several other facilities. About 100 e-buses can park at a time once this facility is set up in Mysuru. Mysuru KSRTC division has bus depots in different areas of the city such as Vijayanagar, Sathagalli, Kuvempu Nagar, and Banni Mantap for its diesel-operated buses, but the proposed depot is dedicated to e-buses. Mysuru KSRTC division also received e-buses under the scheme. Speaking to TOI, KSRTC Mysuru divisional manager HT Veeresh said that the department already sent this proposal for the establishment of e-bus depot in Mysuru, after identifying 4.5 acres of land available at Banni Mantap. The PM e-drive scheme initiated by the Union govt at a cost of Rs 10,500 cr plans to roll out 14,028 e-buses across nine Indian cities, including Bengaluru, between 2024-26. The scheme also aims to build a network of 72,000 charging points in cities, including Mysuru, along highways to accelerate EV adoption. As the Union govt was also rolling out essential infrastructure such as charging hubs, depots, and related civil facilities to support the incoming fleet, an e-bus depot is also coming up in Mysuru, he said. This e-bus depot is a must for the charging hubs with huge electric plugs exclusively charging electric buses, which are fitted with 145-kilowatt electric motor capacity. This proposal also includes the establishment of charging stations in the city bus stand and KSRTC suburban bus stand, he said. In 4 months, bomb exports from Nagpur touch halfway mark of last fiscal
1 2 Nagpur: It's barely four months into the current financial year, and exports of war material like bombs, shells, rockets, grenades and other projectiles from Nagpur units have reached half of what was shipped out last fiscal in terms of value. By August, bombs and shells worth as much as Rs452 crore have been exported from units in Nagpur which recorded exports worth Rs940 crore under this category during the entire last fiscal. This is over and above the exports of prepared explosives, which include high-energy material like TNT, HMX and RDX, which are later filled into shells. This year, more than Rs60 crore of prepared explosives have been exported so far. Last year, over Rs 628 crore of prepared explosives were shipped out from the units in Nagpur, according to the data compiled by the ministry of commerce. It's strong demand from European countries that is fast swelling the order books. Lately, even export licences are coming fast as compared to a long-drawn process earlier. The requirement following Operation Sindoor that exporters must ensure there is no demand for a similar product by the Indian armed forces, has also been done away with now, said sources in the business. Nagpur has two major players in the segment, Yantra India Limited (YIL), a public sector entity formed in 2021, and Solar Group, a private company. Lately, Nagpur has emerged as a major destination for ammunition buyers. The global buyers are procuring both finished ammunition rounds and bombs as well as prepared explosives, said sources. Even Chandrapur, around 150 km away, has recorded major exports. Bombs worth over Rs 228 crore have been exported from Chandrapur district so far this fiscal. This accounts for 27% of the exports in the last financial year. In 2024-25, bombs worth Rs 840 crore were exported from Chandrapur. The Ordnance Factory Chanda located in Chandrapur is a part of Munitions India Limited (MIL), a Pune-based defence PSU. It is engaged in making shells, Pinaka rockets, apart from a whole gamut of mines and related products. The total exports of finished bombs from Vidarbha, which includes the manufacturing centres in Nagpur and Chandrapur, stand at Rs650 crore till August. Last financial year, exports worth Rs1,780 crore took place, according to the ministry of commerce data. Last year, apart from bombs, other cartridges worth Rs 250 crore were exported. Other cartridges include a wider range of ammunition not under the bombs category, said sources. Even Jabalpur in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh recorded bomb exports worth Rs 3.4 crore. Dushyant Deshpande, secretary of Vidarbha Defence Industries Association (VIDA), said strong demand from European countries has helped not only the bigger units but also the ancillary manufacturers. "A year-on-year growth of close to 50% is expected this fiscal," he said. Sandeep Agrawal of Sandeep Metallics, a company engaged in making fuses for artillery shells, said orders are full till 2031. Fuse helps in triggering the blast. "Export permissions are coming within 15 days or so, and the condition that the export order should not overlap with Indian demand is also no longer there," Agrawal said.
