Tiger Woods, a 15-time major winner sidelined after rupturing his left Achilles tendon in March, warned US Open golfers in a social media video Wednesday there's "no faking" about Oakmont.
The 49-year-old American, a three-time US Open champion, underwent surgery to repair the injury but has no timetable for his return to competitive golf as he misses the US Open for the fourth time in five years.

In an Instagram post, Woods gave this week's US Open field some advice about coping with the deep rough, tricky bunkers and fast greens of Oakmont, as well as a warning.
"You just have to hit the golf ball better," Woods said. "There is no faking about Oakmont.
"The golf course is big, yes, but it's just -- there's no way around it. You just have to hit the golf ball well and it favors longer hitters, just because of the degrees, the complexes."
Being in the fairway to properly approach the greens is crucial as well, Woods said.
"It just helps so much to be coming with a shorter iron, to be able to sock the ball," he said. "It's about missing the ball on correct spots... because if you don't, it's horrible."

Woods shared second at the 2007 US Open at Oakmont but missed the 2016 edition of the event on the same course following back surgery the year before.
Woods has not made the cut at the US Open since he shared 21st in 2019, the same year he won his most recent major title at the Masters.

Connor turned 21 with his girlfriend by his side. 'Love you lots,' Kyle wrote alongside a photo of the couple with drinks in hand. Connor and Lauren adopted their bernedoodle, named Lenard. My mom snuggled me so much. I'm so happy! The couple celebrated the holidays together — with Lenard by their side, of course. Lauren continued, 'I knew you were my person from the day we met and I can't wait for the beautiful life we are going to create together. Thank you for the most thoughtful, picture perfect proposal that I could never have imagined. I love you more than anything. 🤍🤍.' The couple said 'I do' on a private island in Ontario, Canada. The Detroit Tigers enjoyed a day off on Monday as they basked in the glow of their American League best 43-24 record. Detroit is scheduled to take on the Baltimore Orioles Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. ET at M&T Bank Stadium in downtown Baltimore. Recently, former MLB player Trevor Plouffe was featured on the Instagram account of longtime host Chris Rose as he shared a warning with the Tigers franchise about a fierce competitor worth keeping an eye on in the American League West. Jake Meyers rounds the bases during a June 8 game vs. the Guardians. © Ken Blaze-Imagn Images "The Astros could overtake the Tigers as the best team in the American League," the Chris Rose Sports page wrote on Instagram in a video clip viewed over 67,000 times. Advertisement "The thing with the Tigers that worries me is, they're very young," Plouffe said. "And like, you know, they've only started winning recently and the air in the clubhouse is different when there's like expectations and things like that." "Even with different personnel, the vibe in the Astros' clubhouse has always been the same, the standard has always been high even through new managers... You know, if I'm a bettin' man, and I'm betting what team do I think has a better record at the end, I still kind of feel like it's the Astros."
