RPO announces summer concert series schedule

Yahoo25-05-2025

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — RPO Outdoors returns this summer with a lineup of community concerts performed by Rochester's own Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.
RPO announced the full schedule for the season on Wednesday, highlighting an exclusive 8 free events to be held in popular Rochester areas and 6 ticketed venue events during the entire month of July.
'The RPO plays dozens of free concerts all over the area throughout the year, but there's something special about performing outdoors in the summer. On some nights, our audience can number in the thousands, and they include families with children who are having their first RPO experience, as well as seniors who haven't been to the Eastman Theatre in decades. It's thrilling to make those first connections, and reconnections, with members of our community,' said RPO Assistant Conductor Jherrard Hardeman. Hardeman will conduct several of the concerts during the series.

Taylor Swift finally owns it all: Every album, every song, every era

Swifties have plenty to celebrate on Friday as Taylor Swift announced that she now owns the master recordings of her first six albums after years of trying and failing to buy them. Sellers or buyers housing market? Zillow's analysis for 250 metros Walgreens buyout could change the future of pharmacy care How to watch the UEFA Champions League Final 2025 live online or on a TV, including free options Swift posted the news to her website, explaining that she was able to purchase the original versions of the albums from Shamrock Capital, the private equity firm that bought the recordings from music manager Scooter Braun in 2020 for at least $300 million. In an emotional letter, Swift called securing her masters a dream come true, describing herself as 'endlessly thankful' to Shamrock Capital for handling the deal fairly and offering her the first chance she's ever been given to buy back her own music. 'This was a business deal to them, but I really felt like they saw it for what it was to me: My memories and my sweat and my handwriting and my decades of dreams,' Swift wrote. After two decades 'of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away,' Swift admitted that she almost stopped believing that she would ever own the original recordings. 'But that's all in the past now,' Swift wrote. 'I've been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found out that this is really happening. I really get to say these words: All of the music I've ever made . . . now belongs . . . to me.' In 2019, Braun acquired Nashville indie record label Big Machine, along with the rights to the albums Swift had recorded there. After Braun's purchase, Swift stated that she was in no way consulted on the deal and had suffered from 'incessant, manipulative bullying' by the industry executive. 'It's a shame to know that I will now be unable to help grow the future of these past works and it pains me very deeply to be separated from the music I spent over a decade creating,' Swift said after the deal went public. In light of her struggle to regain control of her own music, Swift set out to rerecord the albums she didn't own. She began issuing Taylor's Version updates to her missing catalog albums in 2021, putting out rerecordings of Fearless, Red, Speak Now, and 1989 accompanied by previously unreleased songs. Fans eager for news that Swift had finished rerecording her sixth studio album, Reputation, have plenty to cheer but are still in for a wait. In her announcement, Swift divulged that, 'full transparency,' she's less than a quarter of the way through the process. 'To be perfectly honest, it's the one album in the first 6 that I thought couldn't be improved upon by redoing it. Not the music, or photos, or videos. So I kept putting it off,' Swift wrote, adding that she's happy with a now-finished rerecording of her self-titled debut album. 'Those 2 albums can still have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right . . . But if it happens, it won't be from a place of sadness and longing for what I wish I could have,' Swift wrote. 'It will just be a celebration now.' This post originally appeared at to get the Fast Company newsletter:

Scooter Braun Is ‘Happy' Taylor Swift Bought Back Her Masters

After a contentious feud, Scooter Braun says that he is "happy for" Taylor Swift, now that she has the rights to her entire music catalog. On May 30, the "Cruel Summer" singer revealed that Shamrock Capital had allowed her to buy back her music, music videos, concert films, photography, and more, with "no strings attached." In 2019, Swift announced to the world that she was going to re-record her entire music catalog after Scooter Braun acquired her music. At the time, she called it her 'worst case scenario' and described how she had pleaded with Big Machine's Scot Borchetta for years 'for a chance' to own her work. Instead, she revealed that she had only been given 'the opportunity to sign back up at Big Machine Records and 'earn' one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in.' 'I learned about Scooter Braun's purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world. All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I've received at his hands for years,' she wrote at the time. 'Scooter has stripped me of my life's work, that I wasn't given an opportunity to buy…' she continued. 'Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.' Braun, who has since stepped away from artist management, told The Hollywood Reporter in a brief statement on Friday that he is 'happy for her' and left it at that. Additionally, a source told PEOPLE magazine that reports claiming that Scooter encouraged Shamrock to make the deal were false, and that the entrepreneur was not involved in the deal in any way. 'Contrary to a previous false report, there was no outside party who 'encouraged' this sale. All rightful credit for this opportunity should go to the partners at Shamrock Capital and Taylor's Nashville-based management team only,' the source revealed. 'Taylor now owns all of her music, and this moment finally happened in spite of Scooter Braun, not because of him.' Since 2019, Swift has released 'Fearless (Taylor's Version),' 'Red (Taylor's Version),' "Speak Now (Taylor's Version),' and '1989 (Taylor's Version),' leaving many wondering what the fate would be for 'Reputation (Taylor's Version),' and the re-recording of her debut album. Although she told fans that she has re-recorded her debut album, she had less promising news about 'Reputation (Taylor's Version),' leaving some fans to suspect that the full album may not ever be released in its entirety. 'Full transparency: I haven't even re-recorded a quarter of it. The Reputation album was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it,' she told her followers in a lengthy letter published on May 30. 'All that defiance, that longing, to be understood while feeling purposely misunderstood, that desperate hope, that shame-born snarl and mischief.' 'To be perfectly honest, it's the one album in those first 6 that I thought couldn't be improved upon by redoing it,' she revealed. 'Not the music, or photos, or videos. So I kept putting it off. There will be a time (if you're into the idea) for the unreleased Vault tracks from that album to watch.' 'I've already completely re-recorded my entire debut album, and I really love how it sounds now,' she continued. 'Those 2 albums can still have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right, if that would be something you guys would be excited about.' 'But if it happens, it won't be from a place of sadness and longing for what I wish I could have,' she added. 'It will just be a celebration now.' In her letter, Swift admitted that she never thought that she would be able to acquire her full music catalog again. 'I almost stopped thinking it would ever happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away,' she wrote. 'But that's all in the past now. I've been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found out that this is really happening. I really get to say these words.' Further down in her letter, she thanked Shamrock Capital for giving her the chance to buy her music back with 'no strings attached' to their offer. 'All I've ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to be able to one day purchase my music outright with no strings attached, no partnership, with full autonomy,' she continued. 'I will be forever grateful to everyone at Shamrock Capital for being the first people to ever offer this to me.' 'The way they've handled every interaction we've had has been honest, fair, and respectful,' she added. 'This was a business deal to them, but I really felt like they saw it for what it was to me: my memory and my sweat and my handwriting and my decades of dreams. I am endlessly thankful. My first tattoo might just be a huge shamrock in the middle of my forehead.'

Selena Gomez and Travis Kelce Celebrate Taylor Swift Owning Her Album Masters

On Friday, Taylor Swift announced she was finally able to buy the masters to her first six albums, which she has been slowly re-recording after they were purchased by Scooter Braun's Ithaca Holdings LLC in June 2019. The masters then went to Shamrock, who have now sold them back to Swift. Not only is the Eras Tour star celebrating, so are her friends. Swift's bestie, Selena Gomez, shared a shot of Swift in her Instagram Stories with her album covers for Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, Reputation, writing over it, 'YES you did that Tay, SO proud.' Swift's boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, liked Swift's post with the announcement immediately, which read in the caption, 'You belong with me. Letter on my site :)' The letter on the Grammy winner's site was from Swift, and it explained how the albums had come back into her possession. 'All of the music I've ever made now me,' she wrote. 'And all my music videos. And all the concert films. The album art and photography. The unreleased songs. The memories. The magic. The madness. Every single era. My entire life's work.' She continued, 'The passionate support you showed those albums and the success story you turned The Eras Tour into is why I was able to buy back my music. I can't thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but have never owned until now.' Before Swift was able to make this claim, she released new recordings of Fearless (Taylor's Version), Speak Now (Taylor's Version), Red (Taylor's Version), and 1989 (Taylor's Version). However, she had not yet shared a re-recording of Reputation, though fans had expected it this year.
