IU tells unique love story in ‘A BeautifulPerson (feat. Balming Tiger)' MV, Cha Eun Woo appears

IU shares a different kind of love story in the music video for 'A Beautiful Person (feat. Balming Tiger).' The video begins with a guy born as a being made of light, which IU's character observes from afar. The man is loved by everybody since childhood. However, a girlfriend leaves him in the cinema as he glows in the dark room. The man starts wearing a mask to hide his light, and sees another person wearing one. The two bond and it is later revealed that IU and Cha Eun Woo are the people behind the masks. Released early on Thursday morning, the MV for "A Beautiful Person" has already generated a million views on YouTube as of writing. 'A Beautiful Person (feat. Balming Tiger)' is one of IU's tracks from her new remake album, 'A flower bookmark Pt. 3,' which was released earlier this week. IU is best known for the songs "Lilac," "Palette (feat. G-Dragon)," "BBIBBI," "Eight (Prod. And Feat. Suga of BTS)" and many more. IU was in the country in 2024 for her H.E.R.E.H. concert tour at the Philippine Arena. She is also an actress and recently starred in the K-drama series "When Life Gives You Tangerines." — Nika Roque/LA, GMA Integrated News

RPO announces summer concert series schedule

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — RPO Outdoors returns this summer with a lineup of community concerts performed by Rochester's own Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. RPO announced the full schedule for the season on Wednesday, highlighting an exclusive 8 free events to be held in popular Rochester areas and 6 ticketed venue events during the entire month of July. Rain or shine, tens of thousands of people expected to take in Lilac Festival in downtown Spokane

May 16—It could rain on the Lilac parade Saturday night in downtown Spokane as parade procession numbers and, hopefully, the number of attendees inch closer to pre-pandemic levels, said Dave Weatherred, director of parades. "We are definitely ready," Weatherred said. "We hope the weather cooperates, but even if it doesn't, we had a bit of a rain shower last year, and everything we were told was people had a great time anyway." The 87th annual Spokane Lilac Festival Armed Forces Torchlight Parade starts at 7:30 p.m. at Washington Street and Spokane Falls Boulevard. The procession heads south on Washington before zigzagging east and west in a northerly direction until it finishes on Spokane Falls Boulevard near Post Street. A low pressure system moving through the region will bring about one-tenth of an inch of rain from late Friday night to late Saturday night to the Spokane area, according to Antoinette Serrato, meteorologist at the National Weather Service Spokane. Most showers are expected to fall Saturday afternoon, she said. Isolated thunderstorms that could bring heavy rainfall and high winds are also possible Saturday afternoon and evening, Serrato said. Rain and even a shooting inside P.M. Jacoy's convenience store that injured two people happened during last year's parade. The parade was paused and rerouted after the shooting. Weatherred said police officers, who were already spread out along the parade route, responded to the shooting in a hurry and collaborated with parade officials. A person at each section of the parade has a radio with them, so they were able to communicate quickly about next steps following the shooting, he said. "It showed, I believe, that we have some really good policies in place," Weatherred said. Spokane Police Department Officer Daniel Strassenberg, spokesman for the department, called the shooting an "anomaly." He said police are well-versed on where resources need to be and are always prepared. "We're always staffed appropriately to prepare for contingencies if they are to arise," Strassenberg said. Weatherred said the parade will have almost 160 "units." The largest Lilac parade was about 200 units, he said. The units include over 5,000 marching band members who will travel as far away as Seattle to perform in the procession. He estimated 60,000 to 80,000 people will watch the parade, but those numbers could dwindle if storms roll in. About 80,000 people watched before the pandemic. "It's slowly been building back up to the size it was before COVID," Weatherred said. He encouraged attendees to come early and prepare to park on the outskirts of the parade route and walk a bit for viewing.

Lilac Announces Successful Operations of Lithium Demonstration Plant in Argentina

'We've proven that our Gen 4 ion exchange technology can meet and exceed the plant design basis under real-world conditions.'— Raef Sully, CEO of Lilac OAKLAND, CA, UNITED STATES, May 14, 2025 / / -- Lilac, a leading provider of direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology, today announced the successful operations of its lithium extraction demonstration plant in Jujuy, Argentina. The plant featured Lilac's latest fourth generation ion exchange (IX) technology, achieving 91% lithium recovery from salar brine with a lithium grade of 300 mg/L and a 99.4% overall impurity rejection rate. The demonstration plant leveraged a lithium extraction module built with 100% off-the-shelf equipment, matching the commercial design with a vessel sized at approximately one-third commercial scale. This achievement marks a critical milestone in scaling up Lilac IX technology, demonstrating excellent lithium recovery, purity, and IX material cycle life throughout operations. The plant highlights the capabilities of Lilac's technology and team to deliver results under challenging field conditions with a system design that mirrors commercial scale. It operated continuously 24/7 in a remote desert location at 4,000 meters above sea level and leveraged the same controls and automation system planned for commercial deployment. Key Performance Metrics: • Lithium Recovery: 91% • Overall Impurity Rejection: 99.4% • Plant Throughput*: 42 tonnes LCE/year • IX Vessel Size: ~1/3 of commercial scale • Eluate Lithium Concentration from DLE**: 2,300 mg/L * Equivalent throughput if run continuously for 1 year ** Raw eluate prior to any further downstream concentration or treatment Lithium recovery at the Jujuy demonstration plant was stable, averaging 91% and exceeding the commercial plant design basis of 90%. The Lilac IX media delivered excellent selectivity of lithium over major cations such as sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium, and boron. Notably, the Lilac IX process achieved 99.9% rejection of sodium, the primary impurity in the feed brine. The overall impurity rejection rate was 99.4%. Hatch was on-site to witness the operation of the demonstration plant and verified its performance. The consistently high and stable eluate purity supports a cycle life estimate of over 4,000 IX media cycles on the Jujuy brine, which is consistent with the performance seen at mini-pilot scale. 'The success of our Jujuy demonstration plant is a major validation of Lilac's technology and team,' said Raef Sully, chief executive officer of Lilac. 'We've proven that our Gen 4 ion exchange technology can meet and exceed the plant design basis under real-world conditions. This milestone advances Lilac toward full commercial deployment and strengthens our ability to help producers bring new lithium projects online.' About Lilac Lilac exists to solve one problem: lithium supply. By engineering scalable lithium extraction technology, Lilac helps producers deliver lithium faster, cheaper, and cleaner. Our ion exchange technology is rooted in scientific precision and commercial know-how, unlocking lithium supply for global electrification. Our materials, engineering, and approach uniquely position us to develop commercial projects across a range of brine resources. We help lithium producers rapidly and responsibly scale production with versatile, cost-effective, and high-performance technology solutions.
