Felipe's Taqueria
Felipe's Taqueria

Don't let the name fool you: Felipe's is so much more than a taqueria. It's also an evening hub that has a solution to three of Greater Boston's biggest nightlife problems: drinks are relatively cheap, the kitchen stays open late, and there's a roof deck bar with views of Harvard Square. The place has a real come-as-you-are feel. People are friendly, the music isn't too loud, and conversations seem to flow better under the summer stars.

Long Bar & Terrace

Take the elevator up to the 17th floor of the Raffles hotel in the Back Bay: You're here for an elevated experience. At Long Bar, there's a swank indoor lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows, but the view is best taken in from outdoors, on the black-and-cream-tiled terrace. Settle into comfy cushioned chairs and banquettes, sip one of the signature Singapore Slings (said to have been invented at the original Raffles), and gaze out over the beautiful city.

Rooftop at the Envoy

Seven floors up from the mouth of Fort Point Channel, the rooftop of the Seaport's Envoy Hotel boasts a sweeping view of Boston Harbor — from the Tea Party ships past the Custom House Tower all the way to the Tobin Bridge. Reserve a table in the casual dining section or order at the bar and find your own seating on big striped sofas under broad umbrellas. Come winter, the rooftop even has 'igloo' dining.

If your yoga practice is getting stale, bring your mat to free community yoga on the rooftop of the Revere Hotel on Saturday morning and enjoy the Theater District views. Change to chic-casual and return after noon for a build-your-own poke bowl lunch. After sundown, the 15,000-square-foot rooftop transforms into an elegant night spot with a fruit-oriented cocktail list, several bubblies and rosés, and tasty lobster rolls and Thai shrimp lettuce wraps. It's open through October 1, as of this writing.

Saigon Babylon
Saigon Babylon
The rooftop above the Sonder 907 Main Hotel has struggled to find its proper tenant over the years. It was worth the wait for Saigon Babylon. From the team behind Cicada Coffee Bar in Cambridge and the Eaves Vietnamese restaurant in Somerville's Bow Market, this Viet cuisine hotspot serves food as elevated as the restaurant's perch overlooking Central and Kendall squares. It isn't overcrowded like many other rooftops around town, the food and craft cocktails are mouthwatering, and the decor tasteful and eccentric at once.

No-Bake Peaches and Cream Cake? Yes, Please.

Good morning! Today we have for you: A very peachy dessert for the oven-averse A classic Mark Bittman corn and tomato salad Plus, easy potluck recipes that won't have you regretting being social Peaches and cream, always a dream By Mia Leimkuhler Tiramisù, that layered Italian dessert of espresso-soaked ladyfingers, whipped cream and mascarpone, is perfect as is. It is also perfectly riffable: I have Hetty Lui McKinnon's hojicha tiramisù on my must-make list, and the Thai restaurant near me serves a Thai tea tiramisù that I think about each time I walk by. There is a shallow bowl of fuzzy, fragrant peaches on my kitchen table right now, which means the tiramisù to turn to is David Tanis's no-bake peaches and cream cake. Instead of coffee, you dip your ladyfingers in a syrup of white wine, sugar, brandy (or rum!) and almond extract; commenters helpfully recommend using a regular simple syrup instead for those avoiding alcohol. Lemon-zested ricotta, sliced peaches and crème fraîche lightened with whipped cream softly stack to form layers. And like a tiramisù, this is a great make-ahead dessert, a glorious thing to pull from the fridge on a late-summer Sunday. Featured Recipe View Recipe → Classic mentaiko spaghetti: I keep at least two packets of mentaiko spaghetti sauce mix in my pantry at all times; when the craving hits for a salty, funky, umami-bomb pasta, nothing else will do. But every once in a while I grab a package of mentaiko sacs from the freezer section of my Asian grocery store to make this lush (and easy!) dish from Kenji López-Alt. You can watch him make it here. BBQ chicken: A (probably unnecessary) reminder that a big batch of Sam Sifton's BBQ chicken on the weekend pays off huge dividends during the week. His recipe calls for your favorite barbecue sauce; here's a classic one from John Willoughby, a gochujang BBQ sauce from Tory Miller and Elyse Inamine, and a hibiscus version from Millie Peartree. Corn salad with tomatoes, feta and mint: A five-star Mark Bittman classic for peak corn and tomato, because it won't always be peak corn and tomato season. Last weekend I arranged an impromptu park picnic with some friends, throwing together Genevieve Ko's white bean hummus and Ham El-Waylly's cherry tomato labneh dip in less than an hour (they're both very easy). The weather was warm and the breeze was light, and I thought: I need to do a lot more of this before summer ends. So if you, like me, will be pivoting hard to picnic mode, here are 21 easy potluck recipes you can make in 30 minutes or less. I'm really into this sweet and spicy summer fruit salad from Christian Reynoso, which dresses stone fruit, basil and tomatoes in a chile crisp vinaigrette. Thanks for reading!

‘Modern Family' star Aubrey Anderson-Emmons ‘surprised' by the reaction over coming out as bisexual

'Modern Family' star Aubrey Anderson-Emmons said she didn't expect the reaction she got when she came out as bisexual in June. 'I didn't even mean to come out, I just thought the video was really fun. I just thought it was kind of funny. And I was like, 'People will find this funny,'' said Anderson-Emmons, 18, who is known for playing Lily Tucker-Pritchett in the Emmy-winning hit sitcom, said in an interview with 'Them' published on Friday. The former child star added, 'And indeed they did, but I didn't even think of it as, 'Oh, I'm coming out to the world as bisexual, this [is a brave thing] that I'm doing,' because it shouldn't have to be something.' Anderson-Emmons told the outlet that she didn't even think of the social media post as 'coming out,' because 'everybody in my personal life already knows…. I'm very much an open book about who I am. So it was just one of those things that I forgot to mention to the public. It was not intentional at all.' 10 Aubrey Anderson-Emmons in he 'coming out' post. aubreyandersonemmons/Instagram She said she was shocked that it made headlines and got a big reaction. 'It always surprises me when something goes a little bit viral that I do online, because I'll just get one of my friend's screenshots. A couple of my friends screenshotted the 'bisexual coming out' stories that were happening on Twitter and I was like, 'What?' 'I feel like some people are like, 'Stop posting about 'Modern Family.' Some people are like, 'Only post about Modern Family.' I feel like I do a mix of both,' she said.
