Poco F7 review

Poco has officially lifted the curtain on the new Poco F7, and it arrives as a strong contender in the value flagship space, exactly where it's meant to be. As the successor to the much-loved F6, the F7 continues to define Poco's playbook: deliver blistering performance and sleek design without commanding a flagship price.
Over the years, the F-series has become synonymous with remarkable performance-for-price-remember the trailblazing Poco F1 in 2018? That kick-started the legend, and models like the F3 and F5 built on that legacy with Top-tier chipsets, high-refresh-rate OLED screens, and cameras that punch above their weight. The F7 picks up that baton, slotting just above the X-series while undercutting premium killers in Xiaomi's own roster-and it does so with a confidence that's become Poco's hallmark. 5G; Wi-Fi 7; BT 5.4, aptX, LHDC 5; NFC. Misc: Fingerprint reader (under display, optical); stereo speakers.
With the Poco F7, you get a Snapdragon 8-series processor (the S variant, but still technically a flagship chip), a vibrant 120 Hz AMOLED display, and a dual-camera setup promising everyday excellence. All of this comes wrapped in a polished design and backed by fast charging, all starting at a street price that makes you wonder how Poco still does it. In short, it's everything we expected from a new F-series phone, and then some.
Honestly, there are very few obvious omissions from the Poco F7 specs sheet: the display is excellent on paper, the chipset is potent, the stereo speaker setup seems solid, connectivity appears superb. You also get IP68 ingress protection and a 6,500 mAh battery in our international unit (even more on the Indian model), plus fast 90W charging. Unboxing
Living up to expectations all starts with the retail package. The Poco F7 ships in a solid two-piece cardboard box - black with bold yellow lettering, in keeping with the brand identity. The box is solid and protects the phone well. A cardboard cradle on the inside keeps the phone in place. We found no plastic other than a small baggy for the phone, which is pretty good environment-wise.
Now for the impressive bit - the accessory package. In keeping with tradition, Poco includes a charger in the box. In this case, it is a 90W Xiaomi unit with a USB Type-A port. It is accompanied by a proprietary USB Type-A to Type-C cable with an extra pin on the inside. You need to keep track of both bots to properly use fast charging on your device. The proprietary bit is admittedly a bit annoying, but we get that sticking to this older tech is still much cheaper. Moves like that allow Poco to also throw in a nice TPU case in the retail box, so you can start using your new phone immediately.

Xiaomi teases camera-focused smart glasses before tomorrow's big event

Xiaomi has released a number of smart glasses over the years – like the Snapdragon-powered AR-glasses from 2022, the wireless AR glasses it demoed at MWC 2023, the Smart Audio Glasses and more. A new model is coming tomorrow and it will focus on filming first-person view videos, at least that's what the teaser videos focus on. Here's a photo showing the glasses, posted by Xiaomi on Weibo: Xiaomi's upcoming smart glasses Here's the same image with the brightness dialed up: Xiaomi's upcoming smart glasses (boosted brightness) A post on Weibo describes the glasses (machine translation): 'First-person perspective filming. Free your hands, immerse yourself in the moment, record and share your vision.' These glasses will go up against the new Oakley Meta HSTN glasses and previous Ray Ban-branded models. Tomorrow's event will be a big one – it will feature the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2, the Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro, a 41mm version of the Xiaomi Watch S4 and the Xiaomi Band 10. Source

Xiaomi's latest phone is stealing Nothing Phone (3)'s thunder

The mid-range segment of the smartphone market is very crowded, so many companies have decided to insert themselves into a new segment that sits at the threshold between flagship and mid-range tier. The so-called flagship killers are supposed to offer a similar premium experience to top-tier phones, but for a cheaper price. These days, flagship killers no longer use the most advanced chipsets or cameras, but the compromises they make when it comes to hardware affect performance and efficiency too little to matter. Nothing Phone (3) is one of the phones that can be positioned in the 'flagship killer' segment, but only because it uses a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor instead of Qualcomm's top-tier chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Poco F7's main downside is its dual camera | Image credit: Poco Surprisingly, Xiaomi's brand Poco announced a new high-end phone that uses the same Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, the F7. What makes Poco F7 stand out is the fact that it costs half the price. The cheapest Poco F7 model is now available for purchase in Europe for €400 / £390. To make the phone even more appealing, Poco is offering customers, for a limited time, an early bird pricing starting at €350 / £320, which is incredible considering its specs. Apart from the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, Poco F7 boasts a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1280 x 2772 pixels resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, 3200 nits peak brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection. When it comes to battery, Poco F7 outclasses many of the flagships launched this year when. Xiaomi's smartphone packs a massive 6,500 mAh battery with support for 90W wired and 22.5W reverse wired charging. In comparison, Nothing Phone (3) is expected to feature a much smaller 5,150 mAh battery. Poco F7 features a flagship-tier display | Image credit: Poco Perhaps the only aspect where Poco F7 is lacking is the camera. The phone comes with a dual camera system that includes a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 main sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. On the bright side, Poco F7 features an unusually large 20-megapixel selfie F7 is now available for pre-order globally and comes in Black, Silver and White. According to Xiaomi, the phone will receive four years of OS updates and six years of security patches, which is quite acceptable. Even though Nothing Phone (3) has the advantage of looking rather unique, Poco F7 seems to offer a similar premium experience, but in a rather slightly boring package.
