ACC odds, win totals, projections, best bets: Clemson back on its perch as favorite
Clemson has been the dominant force in the ACC for a decade. Even though Dabo Swinney's Tigers have been a tick below the years when they were premier contenders for the national title every season, Clemson still hasn't given up its stranglehold on the conference. Last year, the Tigers lost four games but still managed to win a conference title. This year, Clemson brings back quarterback Cade Klubnik as part of a team that is the clear favorite to win the ACC again. Advertisement The Tigers are just below even money to win the ACC on BetMGM (-110). The expectations represent a shift back toward the prime years of Swinney's tenure. Clemson has an experienced team and is in the top 10 of the preseason polls, including No. 4 in the AP Top 25. From 2015-20, Clemson lost just seven games and made the four-team College Football Playoff every year. In the four years since, the Tigers have lost at least three games every season and haven't finished any of those seasons ranked in the top 10. This season, Clemson's win total is listed at 9.5, with the over heavily favored at -250. The Tigers are also -200 to make the CFP for the second year in a row. As for the contenders, it's the same group of teams that were near the top of the ACC a year ago. Miami is second in the odds to win the conference at +400 with Georgia transfer Carson Beck replacing Cam Ward, the first overall pick in the NFL Draft, at quarterback. The Hurricanes started the 2024 season 9-0, but lost two of their last three to miss out on the ACC Championship Game. Louisville, which didn't crack the preseason polls, is actually ahead of SMU, which is No. 16 in both the Coaches and AP Poll, in the odds to win the conference. The Cardinals are +750 while SMU, which lost last year's title game to Clemson, is +900. The ACC comprises 17 teams stretching across both coasts, but most of those top four teams will play each other in the regular season. The only meeting between those four teams that isn't on the schedule (yet) is Clemson-Miami. If you're wondering about Bill Belichick's North Carolina, the Tar Heels are seventh in the odds to win the ACC at +3000, also behind Georgia Tech (+1200) and Florida State (+2500). Wake Forest and Stanford are the longest shots in the conference at a whopping +35000 (350-to-1). After losing Cam Ward to the NFL Draft, Mario Cristobal dipped into the transfer portal and found himself former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck. Beck is coming off a season-ending elbow injury. Replacing Ward's production is going to be a tall task, and that's before you factor in the injury. The defense should be improved — which isn't saying much — but not enough to make me think double-digit wins will be an easy task. A 9-3 record sounds about right for the Hurricanes this year. Auburn basketball locks in visit with four-star wing Alex Egbuonu
Auburn basketball is working to fill out its 2026 class, and one of its major targets has locked in a visit for November. Alex Egbuonu, a four-star wing from Groton, Massachusetts, has revealed his official visit schedule for the fall. The talented forward will visit Auburn during the weekend of Nov. 1-3, concluding his string of visits that includes Boston College, Georgetown, Florida State, Stanford, and Providence. In an interview with Dushawn London of 247Sports, Egbuonu outlined his recruitment and commitment timeline, as well as what he is looking for in a college home. "The decision will probably come sometime after Christmas," Egbuonu said. "It'll come down to development, relationships with the coaches, and just knowing who I'm going to be with for the season and making sure it's right for me and my family." Bruce Pearl and the Tigers are in a great spot to land Egbuonu, according to Rivals. Rivals gives Auburn a 14.5% chance to land the small forward from Massachusetts, behind Marquette and Xavier. What helps Auburn in this case is that Egbuonu has not scheduled an official visit to Xavier and has already visited Auburn once, unofficially. The 6-6 forward is "built like a football player with a super-powerful upper body, long arms, and good hands according to a scouting report from 247Sports' Adam Finkelstein. Expect Auburn to continue working to sign Egbuonu to be a part of what could be a great signing class for Auburn in 2026. Pearl and the Tigers are also pursuing top talent such as guards Neiko Munday and Colben Landrew, as well as forward Jalan Wingfield. Auburn claims 4 additional ‘national championships' on its football résumé
AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn is claiming four additional football national titles and will call itself a nine-time champion moving forward. The Tigers, for decades, boasted titles in 1957 and 2010. They also claimed the 1913, 1983 and 1993 seasons as meeting national championship qualifications. Now, though, athletic director John Cohen is adding titles from 1910, 1914, 1958 and 2004 to the program's résumé. It's laudable by some and laughable by others. 'For too long, Auburn has chosen a humble approach to our program's storied history — choosing to recognize only Associated Press national championships,' Cohen told On3 for a story announcing the decision Tuesday. 'Starting this fall, we have made the decision to honor the accomplishments of our deserving student-athletes, coaches and teams from Auburn's proud history. 'Our visible national championship recognitions now align with the well-established standard used by the NCAA's official record book and our peers across the nation.' The Associated Press, which began handing out its annual national championship trophy in 1936, credits Auburn with two titles: 1957 and 2010. Banners recognizing those seasons hang inside Jordan-Hare Stadium. The other titles Auburn is claiming have varying degrees of validity. For example, the Bowl Championship Series existed in 2004, and the Tigers failed to make the title game. They finished 12-0 and third in the rankings behind undefeated USC and undefeated Oklahoma.
