AP Dhillon Home Attack Was To Create Fear For Extortion, Admits Goldy Brar: 'To Feed A Family…'

Last Updated: Goldy Brar admits AP Dhillon's Canada home was attacked to spread fear, aiding extortion efforts by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, as revealed in BBC's The Killing Call. After Sidhu Moosewala's tragic killing in 2022, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang ramped up its activities—sending threats to public figures including Salman Khan, Gippy Grewal, and singer AP Dhillon. In 2024, AP Dhillon's residence in Canada was targeted in a shooting. Although the singer was not harmed, the message behind the attack was loud and clear: it was meant to create fear. In the BBC documentary The Killing Call, investigative journalist Ishleen Kaur spoke directly with gangster Goldy Brar—closely associated with the Bishnoi gang—about the group's motives. Brar justified the group's actions, stating, 'To feed a family of four, a man has to struggle all his life. We have to look after hundreds or even thousands of people who are like family to us. We have to extort people. To get money, we have to be feared." Brar also reiterated that the murder of Sidhu Moosewala was, in their view, retaliation for the killing of Vicky Middukhera. 'They took Sidhu's fame and in an instant, transformed it into their own notoriety, and it was that notoriety that made it a lot easier for them to extort money," said Ishleen Kaur in the film. When asked whether targeting Dhillon's house was a move to dominate the Punjabi music space, Brar didn't deny the implication, suggesting it was about creating an atmosphere of fear—making extortion calls more effective. The gang's visibility and operations have grown significantly since Moosewala's death, turning them into infamous figures across India and abroad. The shooting at AP Dhillon's home was one more example of how intimidation has become a key weapon in their arsenal. The shooting occurred in September 2024, shortly after Dhillon released a music video featuring Bollywood actor Salman Khan, with whom the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has a known rivalry. The gang has allegedly threatened Dhillon, warning him to 'stay within his limits." In a chilling message after the shootings, the gang warned Dhillon to 'stay within his limits" or face severe consequences, like a 'dog's death". First Published: June 11, 2025, 19:24 IST

‘Daisy Has Driven Everyone Crazy': Karnataka HC Quashes Case Against Man Accused Of Stealing Cat

Last Updated: As the case came up for hearing, Justice M Nagaprasanna remarked: "Cat named Daisy has driven everyone crazy" The Karnataka High Court (HC) on Tuesday quashed a criminal case filed against a man accused of his neighbour's cat named 'Daisy'. As the case came up for hearing, Justice M Nagaprasanna remarked: 'Cat named Daisy has driven everyone crazy". The accused, Taha Husain, was booked for stealing his neighbour's cat in 2023. Husain had moved the high court seeking to quash the case. The case came up for hearing July 23, 2024. Justice Nagaprasanna had then put a halt to all legal proceedings against Husain, granting him interim relief. The court had then held: 'Permitting further proceedings in such frivolous cases will clog the criminal justice system." In July 2024, following the First Information Report (FIR), the police had also submitted a chargesheet against Husain, who was booked under the charges of criminal intimidation, breach of peace, and insulting the modesty of woman under Sections 504, 506 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code. Police had claimed that CCTV footage from the area was reviewed and the cat was seen inside Husain's house at a specific time. Husain's counsel had then argued that cats tend to enter and exit other houses through windows and this cannot constitute a criminal offence. First Published: June 11, 2025, 16:25 IST
