The Sun8 hours ago

IN honour of Malaysia Day, the 'Equatorial Love Songs – A Special Malaysia Day Celebration' concert is a one-of-a-kind experience that weaves together music, memory and Malaysian identity through the voices of three of Malaysia's most beloved singer-songwriters, namely Rynn Lim, A-Bin (Fang Jiong Bin) and Vchuan Tan.
At the heart of this performance, which will be held at Arena of Stars, Resorts World Genting on Sept 16 at 6pm, lies a poetic narrative shaped by the equatorial essence of Malaysia's ever-shifting weather. From blazing heat to monsoon seasons – the show unfolds in four deeply evocative chapters: Beginnings, Growth, Conflict and Reflection. Each chapter parallels the rhythms of nature with the phases of life and creation, offering a soulful exploration of love, loss, resilience and belonging.
The concert offers a opportunity to witness these three distinct musical voices come together as one. Lim, the celebrated voice from Sarawak, is known for his emotionally rich ballads and warm lyrical style. His notable hits include Porting, Melody, In the Rain, and Gong Ti Bei.
A-Bin, hailing from Penang, brings a raw, expressive power to the stage, delivering songs that speak directly to the heart, such as Bad Guy, Wind, Regret, and I'm Not God.
Finally, Tan, the gifted songwriter and producer from Sabah, infuses the performance with melodic sensitivity and lyrical resonance that have made his works beloved across Asia. His best-known songs include Good Bye Alone, Lan Hao Ren, and All Is Love. He is also the creative force behind numerous Mandarin pop hits, having composed songs for top artistes including Rainie Yang's Longing For, Della Ding Dang's I Love Him (a beloved KTV classic), and Jerry Yan's I Will Love You. To date, he has written over 200 songs for various prominent singers across the Chinese music scene.
Together, these three artistes create a concert experience that celebrates the richness of Malaysian talent and the bonds that unite us as a nation. Ticket prices will be on sale from July 1 and are priced at RM128–RM588.

#SHOWBIZ: Animal lover Cakra Khan keeps 30 stray cats as pets

KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesian singer Cakra Khan unwinds by gardening and caring for his pets, finding it a refreshing way to clear his mind. "I have 30 cats at home. All of them were strays," said the singer, who spends around IDR20 million (RM5,191) monthly on their welfare. "I don't mind forking out that amount, as I believe part of my 'rezeki' (blessings) is meant for them too." Cakra revealed that one of his latest rescues was a cat with a heart problem. "So, to care for the cat, I bought the necessary equipment, including an oxygen generator," he told reporters at a press conference held here today to announce his upcoming 'Divine Concert – Cakra Khan'. "I do all of this just so I feel that I can be useful to someone." When asked why he doesn't keep purebred cats, the 33-year-old animal lover explained he prefers to adopt ordinary cats rather than buying expensive breeds. "As long as the cats are healthy, that's good enough for me," said Cakra, who has been caring for these cats for the past three years. Once rescued, he ensures they are neutered. While he doesn't require a personal helper, Cakra employs a maid specifically to assist him with his uncaged feline companions. The singer also confessed to being a big fan of a particular curry-flavoured instant noodle from Malaysia. "Each time I come here, I bring home a lot of them because the same instant noodle I can get back home tastes a little different," he explained. "Each member of my entourage helps me carry home about four cartons. Sometimes I do get into trouble at customs," he said with a laugh, adding that another Malaysian favourite is Mee Goreng Mamak. Presented by Shiraz Projects, Cakra Khan is set to perform his 'Divine Concert' at KLCC's Plenary Hall on Aug 2. Before that, the same concert will take place at The Star Theatre in Singapore on July 18.

Bella Astillah sheds tears of joy over court's decision to acquit Syed Saddiq

Bella Astillah (far right) is relieved with the Court of Appeal's decision to acquit Syed Saddiq (second from left) of all charges in the RM1.2mil graft case involving funds from Armada Bersatu. Photo: mStar Malaysian actress Bella Astillah was seen tearing up with joy at the Court of Appeal in Putrajaya on Wednesday (June 25) after Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman was acquitted of all four charges in the RM1.2mil graft case involving funds from Armada Bersatu. Bella – who arrived at the Palace of Justice around 8am to show her support for Syed Saddiq, 32 – described the verdict as a 'deserved win' for the Muar MP. 'He's an honest, genuine and brave person who does everything with a sincere heart. Maybe this is a form of repayment for all the good he has done,' the 31-year-old actress told mStar, The Star 's Malay-language news portal. Bella, whose full name is Dayang Ara Nabellah Awang Astillah, also said she won't be commenting further on her connection with Syed Saddiq. 'I'm handing all my future plans to Allah SWT. If it's fated, then Alhamdulillah. I'm a woman. It's not sweet to share my plans for the future. Just pray for the best,' she said. Meanwhile, Syed Saddiq told reporters that he has no plans to 'move to the next phase' with Bella. The former Youth and Sports Minister said his current priority is to spend time with his family, adding: 'I just want to bring my mum, dad and family members out for a meal.' When asked if Bella would be joining for the meal, Syed Saddiq simply smiled and declined to comment. For the record, Bella and Syed Saddiq sparked romance rumours earlier this year after appearing together in a Hari Raya Aidilfitri campaign for a local fashion label. He was also photographed accompanying Bella at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang in March as she prepared to perform Umrah in the Holy Land. Bella was previously married to Singaporean artiste Aliff Aziz, with whom she shares two kids. The former couple first divorced in 2019 after Aliff, 34, was hit with cheating allegations but reconciled in 2020. They divorced for the second time on June 13 last year.
