TALK OF THE TOWN: Sherlock star Benedict and the mystery of the vanishing photographs
The actor who played the eccentric but brilliant detective on TV, recently spent an evening mixing margaritas at Trejos Tacos, a Mexican bar on Portobello Road, Notting Hill, after he auctioned off his time for a good cause.
The highest bidder put him to work in the trendy West London eatery, serving cocktails and shots of tequila to her and her friends.
Insiders tell me everyone was enthralled by the attention of their celebrity mixologist, who took to the role exceptionally well.
I hear he doted on his starstruck customers and shook hands with fans.
But news of the actor's good deed was supposed to be kept under wraps, with a strict 'no photographs' policy in place at the restaurant, which is owned by fellow Hollywood actor Danny Trejo.
Despite the ban, pictures of Benedict the Barman did emerge from the night and find their way on to Instagram.
But I hear the over-excited punter responsible for the leak was given a terse telling off and the images removed.
The Doctor Strange star – soon to be seen with Olivia Colman in a remake of the comedy War Of The Roses – had sold off his services at a gala dinner raising money for the London Academy Of Music and Dramatic Art, of which he is president.
Perhaps, Cumberbatch, 58, did not want to be pictured with booze as he's long valued his 'near sobriety', preferring yoga to alcohol.
That explanation would be elementary, my dear...
Nepo babies assemble!
Nico Parker, the daughter of Mission: Impossible actress Thandiwe Newton, made her name in post-apocalypse drama The Last Of Us.
Now I can reveal she is dating actor Cooper Hoffman, son of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.
The pair have been cast in Poetic License, with Jake Bongiovi, son of singer Jon Bon Jovi.
It's being made by Maude Apatow, daughter of director Judd.
You're just like your ex's mamma, Mia
Is Romeo Beckham's ex following in the illustrious footsteps of his fashion designer mother Victoria Beckham?
Model Mia Regan has set up a company called Mr Designs Ltd, listing herself as a designer.
Last week she unveiled a new collection with high street chain H&M, but the launch party for her collaboration was not, shall we say, 'Posh'.
I'm told the low-key affair was hosted at a cafe next to the Woodberry Wetlands in North London, which costs up to £4,000 to hire.
Jazzy has landed a film role to dye for
Socialite Jazzy de Lisser recently made a dramatic change when she dyed her hair from her natural brunette to a bright blonde and now I think I know why.
The 33-year-old daughter of fashion designer Serena Bute has been cast in a new film called Pretty Ugly alongside Nicola Peltz Beckham.
De Lisser will play a woman obsessed with social media beauty while Peltz Beckham, 30, will play 'a provocative make-up influencer'.
Their characters will face a murder and learn the real meaning of the American Dream.
Expect it to be, well, pretty ugly.
Make Ellen a De Generes offer...
A new life in the Cotswolds has not been without its challenges for ex-US chat show host Ellen De Generes and her actress wife Portia de Rossi, as their house suffered flooding which led to them buying a second home nearby.
Now their first mansion, which they bought for £15million, is up for sale – not on the open market but only to the 'right buyer should they approach'.
I think the biggest draw is that the house has its own pub. What's not to love?
Clangers on air
Poor Woody Cook is paying the price for having a famous broadcaster for a mum – everyone gets to know about his howlers.
In her new podcast, Radio 2 star Zoe Ball reveals how Woody forgot to pay his car insurance, an error that somehow resulted in bailiffs knocking on the door.
Zoe also discloses Woody's nicknames for her. 'He calls me Mum and Bass, because I like drum and bass. But also, we're Mumford and Sons. I'm Mumford, he's Sons.'
Sheeran's old togs
Want to dress like Ed Sheeran? I'm told the pop star donates his old clothes to the East Anglia Children's Hospice shop in Framlingham, Suffolk.
Ed's no style icon but if you fancy jeans, hoodies or checked shirts, you know where to go!

Katie Price jokes that her cat's boobs look just like hers as she shares hilarious picture from her family group chat
Katie Price joked that her cat's boobs look just like hers as she shared a hilarious picture from her family group chat on Thursday. Taking to Instagram the former glamour model, 47, - known for her many boob jobs - shared a screenshot of her family chat where she had posted an image of one of her hairless Sphynx cats. She penned underneath: 'Her boobs. Her boobs look like mine' along with a series of laughing face emojis. Her daughter Princess, 18, was quick to comment under the funny image as she said 'I'm dead' along with crying face emojis. While her brother-in-law Harry had responded with a voice note simply of him laughing. Katie wrote in the caption of her Instagram post: 'Our family group chat is going off do look like their owners...'. Katie has had at least 16 boob jobs, three rhinoplasties and two facelifts and has been sparking concern with her extreme weight loss of late. It comes after earlier this month Katie came under fire after another one of her £2000 Sphynx cats reportedly suffered with sunburn during a heatwave. She has owned several pets over the years, but has come under scrutiny after five dogs, a horse, and a chameleon all died while in her care. And Katie has sparked yet another animal cruelty row in early July after her bald cat Kevin was left with sunburn, despite her attempts to protect his skin. In a video, Katie was seen stroking her cat as she remarked: 'Oh Kevin you have been in the sun today, you have got sun burnt despite us putting sun cream on you... look at his little face', reports The Mirror. As she doted on the pet, which looked very red, she captioned her clip: 'Trying to keep the cats out of the sun is hard work.' The video sparked a furious response from Peta spokesperson Elisa Allen, who slammed the star for seemingly ignoring warnings about the proper care for her pets. She told the publication: 'Anyone who warns Katie not to hurt the animals she takes in might as well be screaming into the wind, for all she seems to care. And here we go again: her cat is sunburnt – something she was likely warned about when acquiring a gimmick cat, bred to look odd and be hairless.' Katie wrote in the caption of her Instagram post: 'Our family group chat is going off do look like their owners...' In a warning about sun safety for cats like Katie's, Peta says cats with 'light or no fur can burn easily, which is just one reason to keep them indoors. 'If they do go into a secure garden, apply vet-approved sunscreen and ensure they have plenty of shade. Cat guardians must stay alert, if you spot redness, swelling, or signs of infection, seek veterinary care immediately.' MailOnline contacted representatives of Katie and Peta for comment. Earlier this year, a petition calling for Katie to be banned from owning animals garnered more than 37,000 signatures after seven pets have died under her charge. She attributes these tragedies to 'bad luck,' with most occurring while she was away and has since secured the garden of her new home to ensure her pets' safety. In February, the mum-of-five hit back at those who criticised her, telling The Sun: 'When people say I shouldn't have animals, it's circumstances that were out of my hands. 'It's no lack of me not looking after them or anything like that. I love animals, I love nurturing.' Last year, leading charity PETA penned an open letter to Katie after reports that she had given away her puppy Tank due to 'losing interest'. The charity also offered her £5,000 if she signs a contract to not acquire another animal. 'While your intentions may be good, the ever-growing number of animals who have either died under your supervision or been given away is impossible to ignore, and people are rightly concerned,' PETA Vice President Elisa Allen wrote, in the letter shared by The Sun. 'Whatever you may offer as reasons for their suffering, relinquishment, or demise, the fact is that you are consistently harming these sensitive, sentient individuals, and I hope you agree that this is a solution.' PETA added: 'things have gone horribly wrong with many of the animals under her supervision'. In response to the open letter, a representative of Katie's told MailOnline: 'Katie has asked PETA many times to have a conversation with her directly, but instead they continue to play the narrative out in the media.' 'If they want to have a direct conversation with Kate they can get in touch.' 'Isn't it a waste of charity money or have they got funds available to give out to celebrities, which should be going towards animals?' The reality star has previously dealt with the deaths of her five dogs, a horse and even her chameleon, Marvin.

ITV shares soar as studios business proves a hit
ITV shares rose sharply on Thursday after the broadcaster's studios arm helped drive a better-than-expected first half performance. The group's studios business, which is responsible for shows like Amazon Prime's The Devil's Hour and Netflix's Run Away, saw revenue growth of 3 per cent in the first six months of the year. ITV told shareholders the division's profits are set to rise in the second half due to the phasing of higher-margin sales, including Rivals season 2 for Disney+ and the third season of The Reluctant Traveller for Apple TV. Studios produces in 12 countries, with over 60 production companies around the world It helped offset a 7 per cent decline in total advertising revenue for the period, owing to a tough comparison with last year's men's UEFA European Football Championship. The decline was better than forecasts of an 8 per cent fall. ITVX sees spike in streaming hours Meanwhile, streaming platform ITVX maintained bumper growth, with viewing hours rising 15 per cent. ITV also said it found an additional £15million of permanent non-content cost savings, taking its 2025 streamlining tally to £45 million, and the group expects to spend slightly less than it had previously indicated on content this year. 'We are on track to deliver our 2026 key financial targets, with sustained good growth in ITV Studios and ITVX coupled with strategic cost management as we reshape our cost base,' boss Carolyn McCall said. ITV shares were 8.4 per cent to 84p in early trading, taking 2025 gains to 15.1 per cent. Aarin Chiekrie, equity analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown, said ITV's near-term outlook for ad revenues 'remains soft' but performance should improve as the comparisons with last year's Euro's fade. He added: 'Given the low valuation of ITV and the quality of the Studios business, there's been plenty of speculation about takeover bids in recent times. 'That's likely to remain the case in the near term, and the main driver of the share price until other parts of the business improve performance. 'But given the structural decline in broadcasting advertising, it's not likely to be a swift turnaround.'
