Police baton-charge TRE-3 aspirants protesting near CM's residence in Patna over delay in results
Several protestors claimed they were injured in the police lathi-charge and warned of intensifying their agitation if the government failed to meet their demands. The TRE-3 aspirants said they had been protesting for the past four months, but had yet to receive a positive response from the authorities.
The situation escalated when the protestors, holding placards and banners, allegedly refused to vacate the prohibited area near the Chief Minister's residence despite repeated instructions from police officials. They instead raised slogans against the state government and the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), which conducted the examination.
Some protestors reportedly advanced towards the main gate of the Chief Minister's residence, prompting security personnel to intervene and disperse them. Police later used force to clear the crowd, leading to brief chaos in the prohibited zone. The situation was brought under control following the police action.
Deepa Singh, a protestor from Siwan, criticised the state government for not releasing the supplementary results of TRE-3. 'We are being treated like anti-social elements. We were holding a peaceful sit-in outside the CM's residence, but the police used force, injuring many,' she told reporters.

Barely a few months before the Bihar Assembly elections, the Nitish Kumar-led NDA Cabinet on Tuesday cleared the implementation of a domicile policy in mass recruitment of teachers under the Teachers Recruitment Examination (TRE), providing over 85% reservation for it for natives of the state, which will start with the TRE-4 to be held later this year for 1.10 lakh jobs. On July 8, the NDA government had earmarked the existing 35% women reservation in government jobs for native Bihar women. This quota, in force since 2016, had earlier been open to women from other states as well. The government's Tuesday move came a day after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar directed the state education department to amend the rules to prioritise Biharis in the teachers' appointment. In a social media post Monday, Nitish, who is also the JD(U) chief, said: 'We have been constantly working to improve the education system of the state ever since our government was formed in November 2005. Teachers have been appointed in large numbers in order to strengthen the education system….The education department has been directed to amend the relevant rules to give priority to the people of Bihar in the teachers' appointment.' The NDA government's decision, coming on the eve of the Assembly polls, assumes significance as it is aimed at wooing the vast constituencies of youth and women across the state. Even though the Nitish government had first announced a domicile policy in 2020, it was not implemented in any recruitment examinations. The government later reversed its decision, which led to protests in subsequent years by various student associations. The TRE-4 would thus mark first time when native Bihar candidates, including 35% women, would avail benefits of a domicile policy. On the Cabinet's decision, Bihar additional chief secretary S Siddharth told reporters, 'Bihar Cabinet gave its nod to 'Bihar State School Teacher (Appointment, Transfer, Disciplinary Action & Service Conditions) (Amendment) Rules 2025' under which people hailing from Bihar alone will be eligible for appointment as school teachers in the state'. As per these amended rules, students who have passed matriculation (Class 10) and intermediate (Class 12) from Bihar will get priority in the appointment of education department's jobs, both in teaching and non-teaching ones, said Siddharth, adding that the move would enable natives of Bihar to avail of over 85% job quota. This would leave candidates from other states to appear for examination for only 15% of these jobs. About 60,000 teachers hailing from outside Bihar had been appointed through three TREs conducted over the last five years. Jobs have emerged as one of the key issues in the run-up to the Bihar polls, with a large section of youths and students holding protests over the last several months to press for a domicile policy for recruitment in government jobs. RJD leader and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Tejashwi Yadav and Jan Suraaj Party chief Prashant Kishor have been among the Bihar leaders who have called for a state domicile policy. Tejashwi has even promised 100% reservation across all jobs if the RJD-led Opposition Mahagathbandhan comes to power in the upcoming polls. In his reaction to Nitish's move, he accused the NDA government of 'copying' the Opposition's agenda. Union minister and LJP(RV) chief Chirag Paswan, an NDA ally, has also favoured a domicile policy to give priority to Bihar youths in government jobs. Dilip Kumar, a student leader who led several protests over non-implementation of a domicile policy, said: 'It is a victory of all Bihar students. We always believed in son-of-soil principle. When other states had not opened avenues for us, our government has now done the right thing by rolling out a domicile policy.' Over the last couple of months, the Nitish government has taken various populist measures, which include the hiking of social security pension from Rs 400 to Rs 1,100 per month and the allotment of 125 unit free electricity to all domestic consumers in the state, numbering 1.67 crore families. More sops The Nitish Cabinet Tuesday also raised the honorarium of midday meal scheme cooks from Rs 1,650 to Rs 3,300 per month, benefitting 2,18,622 cooks. The honorarium of 6,000 night watchmen working in secondary and higher secondary schools has been doubled from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000. The honorarium of 2,350 physical education and health instructors has been increased from Rs 8,000 to Rs 16,000. The Cabinet also increased the monthly incentives of the ASHA and community health workers from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000. The makeover of the staid, decrepit central government offices is one of the most ambitious urban upgrade projects of Lutyens Delhi and is part of the Central Vista Redevelopment Project, which was launched in 2019. The CCS has been given a new name now—Kartavya Bhavan—and the first of the ten CCS buildings (or CCS-3) is finally complete and will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday. The original deadline for the completion of three CCS buildings was November 2023. Two other buildings are due for completion next month. New Delhi: Access-controlled offices, swanky conference rooms, open floor work halls, CCTVs on every floor and more. Phase by phase, the Common Central Secretariat (CCS), which will house all the central government ministries, is finally taking shape on the land where the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts once stood in Delhi's Janpath. Kartavya Path and the new Parliament building are part of the redevelopment project. As of now, only the Ministry of Home Affairs has moved into CCS-3 from its earlier North Block address. Next to move in will be the petroleum and natural gas and rural development ministries, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said Tuesday while briefing the media at CCS-3. The Centre has sanctioned Rs 3,690 crore for the construction of CCS 1, 2 and 3. In all, the CCS will have ten new building blocks where the different central government ministries will be housed. At a press briefing Tuesday, housing secretary K Srinivas said the CCS will be ready in entirety by mid-2027. 'By December 2025, work will start on all the remaining buildings and with new building technology that we are using, we will be able to complete it within 24 months,' Srinivas said. The CCS will have 24 main conference rooms with capacity to seat 45 people, 26 small conference rooms that can seat 25 people each, and 67 small meeting rooms that can hold nine people each. The old Central Secretariat complex currently houses the offices of 22 Union ministries, housing 41,000 employees. It includes offices of central ministries housed in Shastri Bhawan, Nirman Bhawan, Udyog Bhawan, Krishi Bhawan and Vayu Bhawan among others. While a majority of the central government ministries will move to CCS, some like the Vanijya Bhawan, which houses the offices of the commerce ministry, and Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan, which houses the offices of the external affairs ministry, will be retained. Other buildings in the Central Secretariat Complex that will be retained include the National Museum and Ambedkar Auditorium. 'These buildings have come up fairly recently,' Srinivas said. The CCS building will also have several green features such as double-glazed glass windows and façade for enhanced thermal insulation, reduced noise, and minimised condensation. There will also be energy efficient LED lighting, occupancy sensors and daylight sensors to achieve 30 percent energy savings. Entry to the building will be through an ID card based access control system—both for officials and visitors. The building will also have power fencing on the boundary wall for perimeter security. There will be an integrated command and control centre for Central Vista from where all the movement in the area will be monitored. Addressing a press briefing on the eve of the PM inaugurating the first CCS building, Khattar said that work on the Executive Enclave is on and will be completed soon. The Executive Enclave is coming up at the site where the South Block stands now. Work on the Prime Minister's new residence has also begun. 'We have bid out the project,' a senior housing ministry official said. The Prime Minister's Residence Complex, which will be part of Executive Enclave-II, is one of the most important and high-profile components of the Central Vista Redevelopment Project. Coming up on Dara Shikoh Road near South Block in Delhi, the complex will be spread over a total built-up area of 2,26,203 square feet and is estimated to cost Rs 467 crore. Of the total built-up area, the PM's residence will be spread out over an area of 36,328 square feet. ThePrint had earlier reported that besides the prime minister's main residence on the ground and first floors, the complex located south of South Block will also contain the PM's home office, an indoor sports facility, support staff quarters, a Special Protection Group (SPG) office, a Seva Sadan, as well as a security office. CM lays foundation stone for Salepur-Rajgir highway
1 2 Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for construction of the Rs 862 crore-Salepur-Rajgir four-lane highway during a programme held at Belouwa village near Silao in Nalanda district. The Salepur-Noorsarai-Rajgir four lane highway, considered as the dream project of Nitish Kumar, will be an alternate route to Rajgir from Patna. Nitish laid the foundation stone after unveiling the plaque for the construction of the four-lane highway from Salepur (SH-78) to Belouwa (NH-120) via Noorsarai, Ahiyapur, and Silao, which will connect the Buddhist Circuit tourism route in Rajgir. The new road would be built at a cost of Rs 862.63 crore. After the foundation stone laying, Nitish said that the new road would reduce the distance from Patna to Rajgir by approximately 20km. "It will also facilitate access to the under-construction/completed international sports complex, airport, Nalanda University and Rajgir tourism area," he said, adding, "This road will boost industrial and economic development in the region and promote tourism." The ROB was built at a cost of Rs 81.37 crore. After the inauguration, the CM inspected the newly constructed overbridge and remarked that it is very important for Rajgir, as it will ease transportation and alleviate traffic congestion. "The railway overbridge is located on national highway 120 (formerly NH-82) near Sardar Patel Halt and the Rajgir complex. Previously, there was frequent traffic congestion at the level crossing.
