Venezia beat Fiorentina to boost Serie A survival hopes
Venezia have beaten Fiorentina 2-1 to take a giant step towards securing their Serie A status for another year, compounding La Viola's agony after their UEFA Conference League semi-final loss to Real Betis last week.
Combined with Roma's defeat to Atalanta Juventus' prospects of Champions League football next season have been greatly enhanced while Fiorentina are now ninth, three places and four points outside any European spot.
Venezia's win lifted them out of the relegation zone and into fourth-from-last place. The bottom three go down.
Fali Cande on the hour mark and Gaetano Oristanio eight minutes later put Venezia in the driving seat at Stadio Pierluigi Penzo. Rolando Mandragora pulled a goal back for the visitors with 13 minutes remaining.
However, after visiting Cagliari Venezia are at home to Juventus who will be virtually certain of Champions League football if they win their last two games.
That is because Roma missed a chance to overtake them with a 2-1 defeat at Atalanta. Ademola Lookman and Ibrahim Sulemana scored either side of Bryan Cristante to secure third-placed Atalanta the points.
Roma remain sixth, a point behind Lazio and Juventus, who have the better goal difference.

Fox finally delivered the goods and now has two wins in just over a month, propelling the 38-year-old from No.75 to 32 in the world and getting him into the US Open next week for being among the top 60. Taiwan's Kevin Yu (66) birdied the last to finish alone in third, one shot out of the playoff. He narrowly missed out on the top 60 to get to Oakmont next week, but joined American duo Cameron Young and Matt McCarty as earning the top three spots for the British Open next month for players not already eligible. Fox already was in the British Open from his victory in the BMW PGA Championship in 2023, the flagship event on the European tour. Fox now has eight wins worldwide — two on the PGA Tour, four on the European tour and two on the PGA Tour of Australasia. Burns was hopeful of ending more than two years without a victory, his last title coming in the final year of the World Golf Championships-Match Play in 2023. Young (65) tied for fourth. He made an incredible par on the 17th. But needing birdie on the par-5 18th to catch Burns, the clubhouse leader at the time, Young flushed a 3-wood into the breeze and into the trees. It took two to get on the green and he made bogey to finish two shots behind. "I thought in the air I was going to have about a 12-footer to win the tournament, and it ended up somewhere I was going to struggle to make par, let alone make a 4. Pretty upset," Young said.

Snoop Dogg wants soccer stadium burger stand
Snoop Dogg wants to open a burger stand at Celtic Park. The Drop It Like It's Hot hitmaker has been a fan of Scottish side Celtic for over two decades and not only does he want to bring his own food outlet to their stadium, he'd be hands-on and personally serve the meals to fans. He told Scotland's Sunday Mail newspaper: 'There has always been the opinion that food at sports stadiums is never good but that ain't got to be the case. 'People know that Snoop is a cook and I would love to bring a pop up burger to a sports stadium to show fans that food at stadiums can be good. 'It's got to be Celtic Park man, I mean where else am I going to bring it. "The secret to a good burger is the love in the preparation. The ground beef has got to be mixed with some secret spices, then add a good quality cheese and some maple cured bacon. 'The Celtic fans are gonna love it, and to make sure they are just right, Snoop is going to be serving them himself.' The 53-year-old star has no interest in offering his food to Celtic's great rivals rangers. He said: "Am I going to bring my burgers to Rangers as well? Nah, I think we will give that a miss!'
