Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski placed on IL with tibia contusion
The team made the announcement Sunday ahead of the All-Star right-hander's scheduled start against the Washington Nationals. The designation was retroactive to Thursday, a few days after Misiorowski took a line shot to the shin in the first inning against the Chicago Cubs.
Misiorowski (4-1, 2.70 ERA) struggled to close that inning, including a play where his knee appeared to buckle as he fielded a dribbler and threw wildly to first base, but he settled down and retired 10 consecutive batters while throwing 40 pitches over the next three innings.
Right-hander Logan Henderson was recalled from Triple-A Nashville and expected to start in his place in the series finale with the Nationals.

His performance was good enough to earn Third-Team All-Big Ten honors from the coaches and media. He has tallied 130 tackles and 11 sacks in five seasons with the Huskers. Robinson also turned heads at the NFL combine, running a 4.8 340-yard dash and jumping 33.5 inches. He signed a four-year, $5.1 million deal with a $1 million signing bonus back in May. Today in Boston Celtics history: Rasheed Wallace signs; Togo Palazzi born
Today in Boston Celtics history, big alum Rasheed Wallace signed with Boston on a multi-year deal injuries would not let him honor. Wallace, a Philadelphia native, played his NCAA ball at UNC. From there, he was picked up by the (then) Washington Bullets (now, Wizards) with the fourth pick of the 1995 NBA Draft. Wallace made All-Rookie with the Bullets, and then play for the Portland Trail Blazers, Atlanta Hawks, and Detroit Pistons (winning a title there in 2004) before signing with the Celtics, making All-Star teams in four of those seasons. 'Sheed (as he was often called as a nickname) played a single season for the Celtics, his numbers impacted by a number of minor injuries throughout the campaign. This led to Wallace retiring at the end of the season (he would try a brief comeback with the New York Knicks a few seasons later, which went similarly). Wallace would average 9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and an assist per game as a Celtic. Finally, it is also the date that wing Togo Palazzi was born in Union City, New Jersey in 1932. An alum of Holy Cross picked up by the Celtics in the 1954 NBA Draft, Palazzi played parts of three seasons with Boston before his rights were sold to the (then) Syracuse Nationals (today's Philadelphia 76ers) in 1956. He averaged 5.3 points and 2.9 rebounds per game while with the Celtics.

Canzone's walk-off single in 11th completes Mariners' sweep of White Sox
SEATTLE (AP) — Dominic Canzone singled home the winning run in the 11th inning and the Seattle Mariners completed a three-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox with a 4-3 victory Thursday. Randy Arozarena hit an early two-run homer for the Mariners, who swept a series for the first time since July 11-13. They moved within 1 1/2 games of first-place Houston in the AL West. Michael A. Taylor and Brooks Baldwin each had a solo homer for the White Sox, who lead the majors with 37 home runs since the All-Star break. Both teams scored once in the 10th. Lenyn Sosa raced home on a wild pitch from Seattle reliever Eduard Bazardo with the bases loaded to give Chicago a 3-2 lead. But in the bottom half, a throwing error by third baseman Josh Rojas on Miles Mastrobuoni's sacrifice bunt allowed Arozarena to score the tying run. ATHLETICS 6, NATIONALS 0 WASHINGTON (AP) — Jacob Lopez struck out a career-high 10 batters in 7 2/3 innings, Colby Thomas hit his first major league home run and drove in three, and the Athletics defeated Washington. His record streak of allowing six or fewer hits to open an MLB career ended at 46 games.
