Hans India11-06-2025
Veteran Telugu filmmaker AS Ravi Kumar Chowdary, known for delivering several hit films in the early 2000s, passed away on Friday night following a heart attack. The director had reportedly been battling serious health issues for some time.
Ravi Kumar made a strong debut with the 2004 action drama Yagnam, starring Gopichand, which brought him instant recognition in the industry. He later collaborated with leading stars and helmed Veerabhadra with Nandamuri Balakrishna. Another major milestone in his career came with Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitham, which marked the debut of Sai Dharam Tej and enjoyed a successful run at the box office.
His filmography also includes titles like Soukhyam, Aatadistha, and Bhai. While not all of his films met with commercial success, several of them, particularly Yagnam and Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitham, are fondly remembered by Telugu audiences. Many of the songs from his movies also gained wide popularity and continue to enjoy a loyal fanbase.
AS Ravi Kumar's last directorial venture was Tiragabadara Swamy, featuring Raj Tarun. Unfortunately, the film didn't make a major impact, but it marked his final contribution to the industry he served for nearly two decades.
According to sources close to the family, the director had been living alone for some time before his passing. He is survived by his wife and children.
The Telugu film fraternity has expressed deep condolences, remembering Ravi Kumar as a passionate filmmaker whose contributions will remain etched in Tollywood's history.

‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu' OTT release: Pawan Kalyan's epic arrives with a new climax — when and where to watch

Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs. Spirit, one of Pawan Kalyan's most awaited movies, released on July 24, 2025. Mounted on a massive budget with significant investments, the period drama carried high expectations. However, mixed reviews severely impacted its box office performance. While many moviegoers appreciated certain aspects of the film despite its shortcomings, the overall reception was underwhelming. Following its theatrical run, the film has now arrived on OTT. Hari Hara Veera Mallu streaming details Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs. Spirit, Pawan Kalyan's big-ticket period drama, premiered on Prime Video on August 20, 2025, after a disappointing theatrical outing. The film is available in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam. According to a Cinema Express report, Prime Video acquired the streaming rights for a staggering Rs 50 crore. The film's official X handle announced, 'A tale of rebellion, rage, and righteousness. The storm that started in theaters now takes over your screens.' Box office vs budget According to reports, the film was made on an extravagant budget of around Rs 300 crore. Despite this, it collected only Rs 116.82 crore worldwide, as per a Sacnilk report. Even after factoring in the OTT rights deal, the film failed to recover its total cost and was widely termed a box office disaster. OTT version features a new climax Pawan Kalyan plays the titular character Hari Hara Veera Mallu, an outlaw on a mission to free the Koh-i-Noor from Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, portrayed by Bobby Deol. While the theatrical version received criticism for its underwhelming visual effects and lack of polish in many sequences, the OTT cut introduces significant changes. In theaters, the film originally ended with Aurangzeb (Bobby Deol) declaring, 'A storm is coming.' This was after producer AM Rathnam trimmed the climactic battle between Veera Mallu and Aurangzeb during a cyclone. The OTT version, however, ends after the song 'Asura Hananam' and features a sequel announcement, removing the storm sequence entirely. This has resulted in the film now having three distinct endings across its edits. Viewers have also noted that the OTT version features improved VFX, making several scenes look more refined than they did on the big screen.
