Tottenham confirm first transfer of the window after triggering loan star's option to buy on a permanent deal

TOTTENHAM have confirmed that Kevin Danso's initial loan move is set to become a permanent transfer.
The centre-back, 26, joined Spurs from RC Lens in January on an initial six-month loan.

The transfer included an obligation to buy, with Tottenham spending £21million to make the move permanent.
Updating fans, Spurs confirmed their Danso switch while also referencing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's permanent move to Marseille.
Their statement read: "As previously announced, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's loan to Marseille will become a permanent transfer this summer, while Kevin Danso's loan to us from RC Lens becomes a permanent move."
Danso made 10 Premier League appearances for Spurs either side of a hamstring injury.
The former Southampton youngster made his debut in Tottenham's Carabao Cup semi-final second leg defeat at Liverpool, while he also featured in their FA Cup exit at Aston Villa.
Danso appeared three times in Spurs' victorious Europa League campaign, including as a substitute in the 1-0 final win over Manchester United.
Upon joining at the end of the January transfer window, Danso said: "It feels amazing. I've always wanted to play for a big club in the Premier League and Tottenham Hotspur is exactly that… I think as soon as you hear Tottenham Hotspur is interested, the only thing you can do is say yes."
On what attracted him to Spurs, the 6ft 3in defender added: "Just everything, especially through the last few years, how big the club has become — they've got into a Champions League final before.

In addition to Hojbjerg, Spurs formally announced the departures of Fraser Forster, Sergio Reguilon, Alfie Whiteman and Timo Werner.
Forster, 37, featured 34 times for Spurs in three seasons, including four times in this year's Europa League campaign.
Reguilon signed from Real Madrid in 2020 and played 73 times for Tottenham, either side of loans with Atletico Madrid, Man Utd and Brentford.
Goalkeeper Whiteman, 26, came through the club's academy and made one first team outing.
Tottenham have unsurprisingly opted against making Timo Werner's loan deal permanent.
Academy starlets Will Andiyapan, Archie Baptiste, Jahziah Linton, Maxwell McKnight, Max Robson, Jaden Williams, Timileyin Adekunle, Dante Orr and Charlie Warre have also departed.

The Daily Mail reports that Guardiola's decision to overlook him could spell the end of his time on the blue side of Manchester. The Catalan has been honest about the state of affairs and whilst he wants to keep the 22-year-old, he would understand his desire to play regularly. He said in April: 'For the age, I'd like him to stay. But I understand players want more minutes. He can play different positions but I don't know how the squad will be and we will see.' Another factor at play is that McAtee's contract expires in 2026 - leaving the City hierarchy to either hand him a new deal or cash in before he becomes a free agent. The academy graduate has excelled on loan in the Championship previously, but would command a higher move were he to head away from the Etihad. McAtee himself is keen on a move to the Bundesliga, where he's been linked with the likes of Bayer Leverkusen. He's seen first-hand how young English players have thrived in the Germany environment with Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham among them. Letting McAtee leave would represent a risk for Guardiola, who has copped criticism for allowing City's academy products to leave before giving them a proper shot. Several of them have gone on to excel elsewhere, Morgan Rogers among them.

Man Utd ready to sell second star to Saudi Arabia after Bruno Fernandes
Manchester United are willing to sell a second player to Saudi Arabia as Bruno Fernandes considers ditching the Premier League giants for Al Hilal. Fernandes, United's best and most important player in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, has held talks over a lucrative summer move to the Saudi Pro League club. The Old Trafford captain is yet to make a final decision on his future but is believed to be leaning towards leaving United for a move that would earn him around £200m over three years. Ruben Amorim is desperate to keep Fernandes at the club but Manchester United are open to a sale given their poor financial position. Failing to qualify for the Champions League cost the club around £100m and selling Fernandes for around that figure would bolster Amorim's summer transfer kitty. United have already released Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof but the club are also open to selling Andre Onana. Like Fernandes, Onana has attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League despite an inconsistent and disappointing season at Old Trafford. The Cameroon international arrived at United having just helped Inter Milan reach the Champions League final but there have been calls for the £47.5m to be replaced. According to Fabrizio Romano and The United Stand, Old Trafford bosses are open to the idea of selling Onana and will 'entertain offers' from rival clubs this summer. Recent reports have claimed Onana is in advanced talks with newly-promoted Saudi Pro League side Neom SC but while United would be open to talks, The United Stand say this is yet to occur. Most Manchester United fans are dreading the prospect of Fernandes leaving but club legend Paul Scholes believes an offer of £100m would be too good to refuse. Speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate, he said: 'They are talking about £100m for him, Man United cannot say no to that. 'I know he has been brilliant and carried the team on his back, but where does he actually play, what is his position? 'Do you see him as a number 10? Do you see him as a holding midfielder? He almost confuses the whole system. I mean, he has been brilliant, don't get me wrong. 'But when you're getting £100m for him, you snap your hands and take it.' Manchester United manager Amorim, meanwhile, is confident Fernandes has not played his last game for the club. 'I don't think so, I don't know for sure,' he said at the end of United's post-season tour of Asia. 'Nobody knows but I don't think so.
