Kneecap rapper to appear in court for alleged support of terrorist group
Demonstrations in support of the rapper have been organised outside Westminster Magistrates' Court in London where he is due to appear on Wednesday, as well as in Dublin.
The Metropolitan Police has imposed conditions limiting where the demonstration outside the court can take place on Wednesday, saying they were needed to 'prevent serious disruption'.
In response the rap group described this move as a 'calculated political decision' that was 'designed to try and portray support for Kneecap as somehow troublesome' and 'asked supporters to go out of your way to be compliant with all instructions issued, irrespective of how pitiful'.
O hAnnaidh received a rockstar welcome when he appeared at the same court in June, supported by fellow bandmates Naoise O Caireallain and J J O Dochartaigh.
He was greeted by a festival-like atmosphere for his first court appearance, with dozens of fans waving flags, playing drums and one supporter setting off a smoke canister.
The court previously heard the 27-year-old defendant is 'well within his rights' to voice his opinions on the Israel-Palestine conflict, but the alleged incident at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town, north London, was a 'wholly different thing'.
O hAnnaidh is yet to enter a plea to the charge.

‘Pc Predator' jailed for second time after having sex with crime victim
Stuart Trentham, 41, was jailed for 18 months on Wednesday by the same judge who sent him to prison for nine months earlier this year for an 'almost identical' offence. Sheffield Crown Court heard how Trentham was a South Yorkshire Police officer who responded to a report of burglary in 2020, during the pandemic lockdown. Prosecutor Joseph Bell said the officer began to exchange increasingly 'flirtatious and sexualised' messages with the woman complainant. Mr Bell said they then had consensual sex when Trentham attended at her house. But the prosecutor said the woman 'saved his number on her mobile phone as Pc Predator'. Mr Bell said the woman's friend encouraged her to report the matter to the police at the time but she was worried about alienating her local police. He said it was only after she saw a documentary about the Metropolitan Police officer Wayne Couzens, who murdered Sarah Everard in 2021, that she decided to make a complaint. He said she was finally prompted by the publicity which surrounded Trentham's jailing for nine months in February for sending inappropriate messages to a vulnerable woman after she reported that sexual images of her had been posted on the internet without her consent in 2022. On Wednesday, Judge Jeremy Richardson KC jailed father-of-three Trentham, who appeared in court on bail, for a further 18 months. He told him: 'You abused the responsibility reposed in you. 'Police officers have a high position in society and are an essential component of a civilised country. 'The public place confidence in a police officer to do the right thing and behave with propriety. 'You betrayed that trust and you have betrayed that trust now twice.' The judge said: 'This is a grotesque breach of trust by a police officer.' He told him: 'You are a disgrace to the police force.' Judge Richardson said: 'It must be made clear that if anyone indulges as a police officer in this form of misconduct, they fall to be punished. 'There has to be an element of deterrent.' The judge said: 'Your conduct twice over in almost identical circumstances is outrageous.' Earlier, Curtis Dunkley, defending, said his client had struggled serving his prison sentence earlier this year as a former police officer, saying it was a 'living hell'. Mr Dunkley said Trentham, of Wakefield, West Yorkshire, had autism and suffered with PTSD. The defendant admitted misconduct in a public office when he appeared in court on Wednesday. He sat in the dock wearing a blue suit and with his head in his hands. Trentham resigned from South Yorkshire Police in 2023.

Ice cream seller, 38, is stabbed to death in broad daylight: Man and woman arrested after 'murder' in London
Two people have been arrested north-west London after an ice cream seller was stabbed to death in broad daylight, as police launch a murder investigation. The Metropolitan Police said officers were called to reports of a stabbing in Monks Park, Wembley, at around 6.10pm on Tuesday. A 38-year-old man was treated for stab wounds by the London Ambulance Service but died at the scene. His family have been informed. A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder in the early hours of Wednesday, while a 31-year-old woman was also arrested at the scene for conspiracy to murder, the force said. Both individuals remain in custody. Asim Mahmood Butt, 39, a local resident living in nearby Tokyngton Avenue, said he was childhood friends with the victim. Speaking at the scene, he told the PA news agency: 'I got a call from one of my cousins. 'This guy, we know him - he's a famous ice cream guy. He got stabbed yesterday. 'I came here and his body was still here, and police had cordoned off the area. 'We don't know the reason why, but all that we know is that a guy with a grey hoodie stabbed him eight times. That's what I've been told. 'I know his brothers as well - they're all local. We all used to play cricket and football here in Monks Park. 'He started (selling) ice cream about a year ago.' Mr Butt said the victim was married and had a young daughter. The victim's ice cream van, which had been parked on the road at the time of the incident, was well known locally for having a large teddy bear, the witness added. A second witness, who did not want to be named, said the ice cream van was towed away from the scene in the early hours of Wednesday morning. A blue forensics tent and a number of Met officers could be seen inside a police cordon in Monks Park on Wednesday afternoon. Removal vehicles also took away a separate white van and blue car. Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller said: 'Our thoughts remain with the victim's family and friends at this hugely difficult time. 'Detectives are still working at pace to understand the circumstances around this sad event. 'We are urging anyone with information to get in touch and residents can continue to expect an increase in the number of officers in the local area as we continue our investigations. 'Additionally, we ask all residents in the area to look at any doorbell or camera footage around Monks Park and to make contact if there is anything that they feel would assist police.'
